Ricardo Pepi on the cusp of joining Fulham in €37 million deal
PSV Eindhoven attacking mainstay Ricardo Pepi is reportedly on the verge of joining Fulham in a deal worth €37 million.

Ricardo Pepi has only gone from strength to strength since joining PSV Eindhoven. His impressive performances in the final third have not gone unnoticed. While multiple top clubs have been linked with him, Fulham are on the verge of securing his services.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign the 23-year-old striker. Both parties have agreed on a €37 million package for the American international. The player has already agreed on personal terms, but there is still one final step to go.

Ricardo Pepi joined the Dutch club in the summer of 2023 from Augsburg, and he hasn't looked back since. So far, he has featured in 90 matches for PSV and has contributed towards 45 goals. In the ongoing campaign, the American striker has been involved in 22 matches, and he has bagged 11 goals and two assists.

Fulham are on the verge of signing Pepi
The American international's performances have placed him on the radar of multiple top clubs, but it seems Fulham have managed to beat the competition to his signature. While Ricardo Pepi's contract at PSV Eindhoven runs until the summer of 2030, the Cottagers have struck a deal with the Dutch club.

The West London outfit are ready to fork out €37 million in total to land the 23-year-old on the final day of the winter transfer window. Personal terms have already been sorted with the young striker. Marco Silva will be absolutely delighted by this signing, as he was desperate for a new striker with Rodrigo Muniz out injured, while Raul Jimenez is in the final phase of his career.

Ricardo Pepi will not only add much-needed firepower to their attack but will also become one of their mainstays in the long run. However, the move is not yet complete, as one final step is left. PSV will only sanction his departure once they sign a replacement. Once the Eredivisie giants brng in someone to take his place in the team, they will allow him to travel for his medical.

Div 1 Champs 25 years on: February
To commemorate the 25 year anniversary of Fulham's 2000/01 title winning season, at the start of every month we will look back on how Jean Tigana's side fared this time quarter of a century ago.

February

February 2001 did not go down as the most prosperous month for Fulham, even though one defeat in five would be considered a decent run most seasons...

Bad weather had left the Craven Cottage turf boggy going into our home match with Sheffield United, conditions that naturally favoured a Neil Warnock side over a Jean Tigana one. Nonetheless, we still took the lead when Louis Saha fed Luis Boa Morte, who rounded the 'keeper before firing in.

But we went into the break level when Laurent D'Jaffo flicked on a free-kick from future Fulham captain Michael Brown, and that was the way it stayed despite the best efforts of Karl-Heinz Riedle and Boa Morte in the second half.

Maybe things would have been different had Blades midfielder Georges Santos been shown a second yellow card for clashing with a teammate, but Warnock swiftly substituted him while the referee conferred with his assistant.

Our next outing was equally frustrating, as Barnsley recovered from their 5-1 thumping at the Cottage in September by holding us to a goalless draw at Oakwell, thanks largely to Kevin Miller's good form in goal, and the upright saving his side when Boa Morte did beat him.

We returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest back on home turf, with Saha doing well to redistribute his body shape and volley in after Boa Morte's cross towards him changed direction after hitting a defender.

As important as the three points were, the biggest smiles came pre-match as Chris Coleman attended a Fulham game for the first time since his accident.

"I want to thank you all for the great reception I received when I came out onto the pitch just before the Forest game," Cookie said in his next programme notes. "It was brilliant to be back at the Cottage for the buzz of a matchday anyway, but coming out to such an amazing reception made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, and I'll never forget that feeling. It's amazing the lengths you go to for a bit of attention!"

We had hopes of ending our Turf Moor hoodoo when Barry Hayles fired us in front early in the second half, but late goals from Ian Thomas-Moore and Glen Little saw Burnley turn it around, meaning a long journey home for the Fulham fans who had travelled to Lancashire that Tuesday evening.

We at least managed to end the month on a high, though we did make hard work of it against Gillingham, with 74 minutes played before John Collins curled home a sumptuous placed effort from the edge of the box, before Boa Morte made sure of the victory late on.

The eight points won was the lowest we claimed in a calendar month all year, but we still managed to extend our lead at the top – we now had a 12 point cushion on second placed Bolton Wanderers, who just happened to be our first opponents in March.

Deal Off: Fabrizio Romano Issues Big Fulham Transfer Update on Deadline Day
Ricardo Pepi's deadline day move to Fulham has fallen through, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The PSV striker looks unlikely to join the Cottagers despite lengthy negotiations, as the Dutch club are reluctant to proceed with a deal at this point in the transfer window.

PSV are reportedly unable to find a replacement in time for Pepi, who has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances this season.

The USA international was the subject of a £28m bid just over a week ago, before Fulham switched their focus to signing Oscar Bobb from Manchester City.

Ricardo Pepi Unlikely to Join Fulham
According to Romano, Pepi is unlikely to join Fulham on transfer deadline day, as PSV are refusing to broker a deal with little time left to find a replacement.

Following Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United, Fulham boss Marco Silva revealed the club are anticipating further transfer business ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

The Cottagers have completed just one signing this month in Oscar Bobb, while Adama Traore was sold to West Ham, reuniting with manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Fulham tested the waters with a bid for Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock earlier in the window but learned the 26-year-old is not for sale.

Silva's side are believed to have also held initial talks for Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta, with a new midfield arrival still on the agenda before the 7pm transfer deadline.

Fulham devastated as Fabrizio Romano confirms cruel reasons why PSV have blocked £32m Ricardo Pepi transfer
Fulham have seen a move for Ricardo Pepi cruelly blocked at the 11th hour, despite agreeing terms with PSV Eindhoven over what would have been a £32m deal on transfer deadline day.

The 34-times capped USA international has impressed since moving to the Netherlands, scoring 37 times in 90 appearances for PSV following his move from Augsburg in 2023. But with the Cottagers having identified his signing months ago and having spent weeks working on a would-be deal, Fulham looked to have finally reached a breakthrough when sources confirmed an agreement over a £32m (€37m, $44m) fee had been reached.

And despite complications around the player's fitness, Fulham were pushing hard to get it over the line before the window shuts.

Pepi is currently sidelined with a broken arm and isn't expected to return to action until March, but that hasn't deterred Marco Silva, who sees the 21-year-old as a long‑term investment and a key addition to his squad.

However, just as they were gaining hope a full agreement to bring Pepi to Craven Cottage was closing in, Fabrizio Romano has revealed the devastating news early on Monday morning that a deal has now been called off.

Writing on X, Romano posted at 7.47am on Monday February 2: 'EXCL: Ricardo Pepi's potential move to Fulham now called OFF.

'PSV Eindhoven inform Fulham this morning, no green light despite agreement on €37m package. PSV can't find a replacement and the deal is not proceeding.'

The news will come as a devastating blow not just for the Cottagers but for Pepi himself. We are told the player has made it clear to PSV that he wants the move, eager to follow the path carved out by fellow Americans Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride and Tim Ream, all of whom became fan favourites at Craven Cottage.

As a result, the Cottagers will be left empty-handed, though there is a strong chance they will keep communication channels open and will hope to secure his signing in the summer window instead.

Fulham round-up: Willock transfer hope remains; Sterling deal off
Meanwhile, Fulham still have hope that they could convince Newcastle to sell them Joe Willock, despite turning down a bid from Fulham this weekend, with the value, his stance on the move and why the decision was made revealed.

Elsewhere, Fulham are stepping away from their pursuit of Raheem Sterling after agreeing a deal with Manchester City for Oscar Bobb, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Speaking of Cottagers wingers, they remain desperate to retain Harry Wilson's services as his contract continues to wind down, and we can reveal the player's current stance as interest from Leeds and Everton bubbles along.

The Fulham star who broke a Premier League record in Man United defeat
Raul Jimenez scored a late penalty in Fulham's 3-2 defeat by Manchester United on Sunday

Raul Jimenez has etched his name into Premier League history, converting his 12th consecutive spot-kick during Sunday's dramatic 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

The Fulham striker's unerring accuracy from 12 yards now sees him hold the record for the most penalties scored without a single miss.

Jimenez's perfect record began at Wolves, with his first penalty in a 3-2 loss to Tottenham in November 2018.

He consistently delivered from the spot after that, securing crucial points and netting a match-winning brace against Southampton.

Even after suffering a severe skull fracture, he maintained his perfect streak, converting another penalty against Southampton in a 3-1 Wolves victory.

Moving to Fulham, Jimenez continued his clinical form. His first league penalty for the Cottagers, against Nottingham Forest, marked his 50th Premier League goal.

He then netted two spot-kicks against Ipswich, making him Mexico's highest-scoring Premier League player, now with 65 goals.

Another penalty against Forest saw him draw level with Yaya Toure, before Sunday's decisive strike secured the outright record. His only two career misses from 45 attempts came in the Europa League for Wolves (2020) and for Mexico (2018).

Toure previously held the record, converting all 11 of his Premier League penalties for Manchester City between 2013 and 2017.

Jimenez and Toure are the only players with a perfect double-digit record, with Dimitar Berbatov close behind on nine from nine.

Chelsea's Cole Palmer once boasted a 12-from-12 record, but his 13th attempt was saved, leaving him with 15 successful penalties from 16.

Legendary Matt Le Tissier converted 25 out of 26, including his last 23. Alan Shearer holds the record for most penalties scored (56) but also shares the unwanted record for most misses (11) with Wayne Rooney.

Jimenez's consistent composure under pressure places him in an elite category of Premier League penalty specialists, a remarkable feat given the high stakes involved in every spot-kick.

Ricardo Pepi to Fulham is OFF! Why PSV have pulled the plug on €37m transfer for USMNT star - explained
Fulham's ambitious deadline-beating swoop for Ricardo Pepi has collapsed in dramatic fashion after PSV pulled the plug on the €37 million deal. The USMNT striker was reportedly set for a Premier League switch, but the Dutch giants blocked the move on Monday morning after failing to secure a replacement in time, leaving the Cottagers empty-handed.

Deadline day heartbreak for Fulham
Fulham's hopes of landing a marquee striker to spearhead their attack for the remainder of the campaign have been dashed at the eleventh hour. According to Voetbal International, the proposed transfer of Pepi to Craven Cottage is now off, despite the two clubs having previously reached an agreement on a substantial financial package.

The Premier League side had shown serious intent, tabling a bid worth around €37m (£32m/$44m) to bring the 23-year-old American international to London. Negotiations had progressed smoothly regarding the fee and personal terms, with Pepi reportedly keen to test himself in the English top flight.

However, the green light never arrived. On Monday morning, with the transfer window's deadline looming large, PSV communicated their final decision to the Fulham hierarchy: the deal could not proceed. The sudden U-turn has left Marco Silva's side with little to no time to pivot to alternative targets, effectively ending their search for a new number nine in this window.

No replacement, no deal
The collapse of the transfer hinges entirely on PSV's inability to source a successor. VI reports that while the Eredivisie champions were tempted by the significant profit they would have made on Pepi, they were unwilling to sanction his exit without bringing in a guaranteed scorer to fill the void.

PSV are currently entrenched in a competitive domestic title race and have European commitments to honour. The club's sporting director, Earnest Stewart, spent the final days of the window scouring the market for a viable replacement who could hit the ground running at the Philips Stadion.

However, with the January market proving notoriously difficult for finding elite strikers, PSV struck out on their primary targets. Faced with the prospect of weakening their squad significantly for the second half of the season, the Dutch club took the pragmatic decision to prioritise sporting stability over financial gain. As a result, they exercised their right to veto the Pepi sale, regardless of the agreement in principle with Fulham.

A bitter blow for Marco Silva
For Fulham, the news comes as a bitter blow. Having just secured the signing of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City to bolster their creative options, the addition of Pepi was seen as the final piece of the jigsaw to push for a European place.

Cottagers manager Silva has been vocal about the need for more ruthless efficiency in the final third. Pepi, who has been in prolific form in Netherlands, was identified as the ideal profile to lead the line.

The breakdown of the move leaves Fulham reliant on their existing forward options. While Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez have served the club well, the pursuit of Pepi suggested that the recruitment team felt an upgrade was necessary. Missing out on their top striker target after having the fee accepted will be seen as a significant failure in strategy, leaving the squad arguably short of firepower for the run-in.

Fulham to revisit USMNT's Ricardo Pepi transfer in summer - sources
Fulham are likely to reignite their interest in United States men's striker Ricardo Pepi in the summer transfer window after the potential move broke down this January, sources have told ESPN.

Fulham and PSV Eindhoven were close to agreeing on a fee in the region of €37 million ($43.9m) for the USMNT striker, but the deal was contingent on PSV finding a replacement, according to sources.

With the transfer deadline ticking ever closer, PSV pulled the plug on the deal as they were unable to find a suitable candidate to fill Pepi's shoes.

The Premier League side has already recruited Oscar Bobb this window and was keen to add the young striker as well.

Pepi, 23, has been in fantastic form for PSV this season, scoring eight goals in 15 Eredivisie matches. He is seen as an ideal target to bolster Fulham's forward options, though he is out currently with a broken forearm.

Sources say that Fulham are keen to explore another move for Pepi in the summer.

The 23-year-old began his career at FC Dallas before spells at Augsburg and Groningen before joining PSV, where he has 26 goals in 60 games, alongside 13 in 34 for the USMNT.

Fulham reject Everton's approach for Wilson
Fulham have rejected an offer from Everton for midfielder Harry Wilson.

It is understood the Toffees made an approach for the 28-year-old last week, but it was turned down by the Cottagers.

The Wales international is out of contract this summer and could leave for free, but Fulham are adamant on not selling him this month.

Head coach Marco Silva has also said there is "zero chance" of Wilson being sold in the January transfer window.

Instead the club has made securing his future a priority, having signed him on an initial loan deal from Liverpool in July 2021.

Since then, Wilson has made 173 appearances for Fulham, scoring 34 goals and registering 43 assists.

However, as BBC Sport revealed in January, talks over a contract extension are currently on hold because of transfer interest.

It is also understood that Wilson would prefer to have clarity on the future of Silva, who is also out of contract this summer, before making a final decision on any new contract.

PSV will not sell Ricardo Pepi to Fulham despite improved bid
Ricardo Pepi will not be leaving PSV to join Fulham in the Premier League. As reported by VI, Fulham had improved their bid to €35m, an offer that PSV would be more than willing to accept. However, the problem is, the bid from Fulham has come to late for PSV. The Eredivisie leaders would only let Pepi go if they had enough time to find a suitable replacement. With very little time left in the transfer window, PSV have decided that they do not have the capability to replace the striker and so he will not be joining Fulham at this moment. It appears that a move in the summer will be more likely, although if Pepi impresses at the 2026 World Cup the price tag could increase.

The 23-year-old striker has had a great season so far with PSV and it is not surprising that Fulham have shown concrete interest. He has scored eight goals in 15 games in the Eredisivie, with another three in the Champions League. Last season was the best season of Pepi's career so far, with 17 goals in 28 games as PSV won the Eredivisie title. PSV fans will hope he can continue to find the net as they hone in on another title winning season in the Eredivisie.

Colchester United have signed Fulham defender Alex Faux
The 18-year-old will link up with the U's academy, having impressed on trial over recent weeks.

Faux has regularly featured for the U's under-21 side in the Professional Development League and also played in the club's FA Youth Cup defeat at Oxford United, last month.

The centre-back, who can also play as a right-back, has been at Fulham since 2022, having previously played for Camberley Town's youth teams in addition to representing Aldershot Schools.

Colchester describe Faux as a 'a quick and aggressive centre-back' who 'relishes one-v-one defending and is also comfortable operating out wide thanks to his pace.' Faux's player profile on the Fulham FC website describes him as 'a tall, rangy centre-back who loves to defend and who also loves to have the ball at his feet, stepping out from defence to help get the team up the pitch.'

Five Things We Learnt From Manchester United 3–2 Fulham
Manchester United 3–2 Fulham. An impressive performance away at a big six side ends in heartbreak for Fulham. We've heard that story before. Here's five things we learnt from Manchester United 3–2 Fulham:

Poor Game Management Costs Fulham Again
How many times have we left a big six ground praising a performance but criticising Fulham's game management skills late on?

The performance today? Commendable. The fellas deserved far more than taking nothing home from Old Trafford, but if we want to be competing at a European end of the table, we have to manage games better.

Should a large part of the blame go to Calvin Bassey for simply not clearing Amad Diallo out? Definitely, but conceding in the last five minutes for the eighth time this season isn't down to one person, it's a larger issue.

While the amount of quality in the squad, and the amount of depth we have does feel different to years gone by, our ability to compitutlate late on feels the same. That must change.

Fulham Have European Level Quality
Fulham have an amount of techincal skill perhaps unparalleled by any Fulham side ever. Chukwueze showed it on the break, Emile Smith Rowe showed it for the first time in a few games, and Kevin showed it late on.

While, ultimately, we did throw it all away, we saw yet again, a moment of magic earned Fulham a massive goal late on. That final third quality is what we have lacked in the past few run ins.

The magic we saw today is the difference from mid table mediocrity to trips to Bratislava, Riga, and Tallinn.

Oh, did I mention that we have Oscar Bobb too?

While today is disappointing, and European football is an impossibility without more discipline late on, these are undeniably exciting signs.

Antonee Robinson Off the Pace Again: Time to Start Sessegnon
After a lengthy stretch out, Antonee Robinson impressed away at Burnley, and at home to Liverpool, but pre and post knee injury, Antonee Robinson looks a different player.

The way he used to fly out the traps to intercept possession or wrap round the winger on the overlap is something we haven't seen in the last six games.

Amad Diallo had Jedi on toast all game long, and while Antonee has never been Kenny Tete like in his ability to win a 1v1 duel, Antonee's pace was his selling point, and the fact that post a major knee injury, Robinson is being beat in a foot race by a Amad Diallo makes alarm bells ring not just for the immediate future, but for the long term too.

Right now, Ryan Sessegnon is Fulham's best left back. It's time to start Sess and let Robinson recover properly.

Sess & Kevin Connection Continues: A Turning Point for Kevin?
It's no coincidence that when Ryan Sessegnon came on, Fulham looked more of a threat from the left wing, and it was Sess and Kevin who continued their growing connection for Kevin's stoppage time equaliser, with Ryan grabbing a tidy assist.

Those two are a dangerous duo. Keep playing them together.

While Kevin has clearly lacked confidence as of late, the fact he has the audacity and quality to even think about pulling off a strike like that is a testament to the player Kevin is.

A moment like that away at Manchester United feels like a turning points for Kev.

Kev's ceiling is sky high and while he can be frustrating at times, if we remain patient and allow him time to develop, we will reap the rewards of a supremely talented 22 year old. We certainly did today. It was a wicked five minutes!

VAR Must Be Scrapped: Big Six Bias Must Be Questioned
I left this to last because, well, it's boring now. Another week, another VAR decision goes against Fulham.

Am I delusional enough to think that the PGMOL have a vendetta against Fulham? No, of course not. But I struggle to see how a big six bias can't be suggested.

Fulham have played eight games against big six sides this season. In half of those, I'd say Marco Silva could count himself aggreved at the decisions that have gone against Fulham.

John Brooks didn't give Fulham a single 50/50 decision today, but VAR deservedly takes the headlines.

The offside rule has to change, well it does when a big six side is involved (see Florian Wirtz's goal at the Cottage), but what advantage do Fulham gain with Jorge Cuenca's feet being behind Lisandro Martinez, but half his shoulder in front of the Argentine?

If it takes four minutes to find a reason to change a decision, should that decision really be changed? That can't be clear and obvious can it?

Don't even get me started on the 'penalty' turn free kick decision. There is no other explanation for that than searching for a compensatory call to almost apologise to their Manchester United overlords.

VAR sucks the joy out of football. You ask yourself, can I celebrate? Is this a goal? That's not what football is about. It's made the Premier League a painful watch.

VAR has to be scrapped. Will it be? No, it makes better TV drama, and that's the Premier League's priority.

Games like today really do make you miss the authenticity of the Championship.

Marco Silva's Adama Traore comments are damning for West Ham, Fulham boss 'very happy'
West Ham United received some unexpected resistance before tying up a deal which sees Nuno Espirito Santo reunite with former Fulham winger Adama Traore on the Premier League stage.

Fulham initially slapped an audacious £7 million price-tag on the head of a winger who had started only one league match in the first half the campaign.

A winger who was also due to become a free-agent a few months down the line.

Such a stance appeared to scupper Nuno's hopes of a reunion, though West Ham United were able to get a deal done in the end. The Hammers and Fulham eventually shook hands after agreeing a £2 million fee.

Why did their London neighbours cave and lower their demands by £5 million? Head coach Marco Silva has indicated that Fulham opted against dragging their feet any longer once it became clear that Traore would have to leave to make room for marquee signing Oscar Bobb.

Fulham show an ambition West Ham United cannot match as Adama Traore swaps clubs
Fulham snapped up youngster Bobb in a £27 million deal from Manchester City just days after Traore's exit was confirmed.

Sections of an unhappy West Ham fanbase would be forgiven for glancing over at Craven Cottage with a pang of envy.

While Fulham continue to punch above their weight, only six points off Chelsea in fifth, Silva's side are also signing one of the brightest attacking prospects in England. All the while, the Hammers are making do with an uninspired, underwhelming 30-year-old who has only 14 goals to show for nearly 250 Premier League appearances.

"When a player like Adama left our football club at around 29 or 30 years old, we were able to make a move like this one for a younger player in that position," Silva told reporters. "That shows what we want to do for the present, but for the future too."

"I am very pleased, definitely. Very pleased because I think it is a very, very good move from ourselves. [Bobb] is a clear replacement for the player that left the football club, that was Adama. We signed Oscar and it is a great move from us.

"Of course, I have to congratulate the club and the board for the move. To react to the player that left the football club, Adama, to replace him with a – in my opinion – very, very talented player like Oscar Bobb..."

If only West Ham were moving with such ambition; reduced to short-term, cut-price deals as their rivals make big, bold bets on a potential superstars.

Oscar Bobb joins Fulham for in £27 deal
Norwegian winger signs five-and-a-half-year deal at Craven Cottage

Oscar Bobb has joined Fulham in a £27m deal, the club confirmed on Friday. The Blues have retained a 20% sell-on clause, as well as matching rights for any future bids for the player.

The Norwegian winger joined the club's academy in 2019, and went on to make 47 appearances for the first-team, scoring three goals. His progress was unfortunately hampered by a broken leg suffered in training at the start of the 2024/25 season.

"I leave City with nothing but amazing memories and I want to thank everyone for their help and guidance during my time here," Bobb said.

"I have been so lucky to be part of such a special football club and to have experienced so many fantastic moments are experiences I will always cherish.

"I have also learnt so much – not just as a player but as a person too – and for that I'm so very grateful.

"Thank you to everyone – to Pep, the coaches, all my incredible team mates and the fantastic City fans who have been so supportive to me.

"I wish nothing but the best for the Club."

"Oscar is a fine talent and a player that's developed a lot on and off the pitch in his six-and-a-half years at City," Director of Football Hugo Viana added.

"He had a major impact at Under-18s and EDS levels, before stepping up into the first team, where he provided some crucial moments for the Club as we won our fourth title in a row.

"We are really proud of the person he has become – and he is a fine example of the kind of quality player our Academy can produce.

"We look forward to seeing him take the next step in his career and I am sure he can continue growing and developing with Fulham."
