Chelsea spent £117 million on Rogers. With that amount of money I'd say it's quite easy to get a player over the line. I suspect that Villa didn't need to give the deal much thought at that ridiculous price.

Agreed, we really have some fans that just want Fulham to happily overpay and moan about waiting. We haven't the financial lure of the funding cheats down the road, so our negotiations take longer and no doubt have to be more sensibly structured.

I think the valuation on the £117m is also about fiddling the books. Overpricing deals on this and Garnacho.....releasing profit but spreading those heightened costs means I think.....they should get some short term upside?

Personally, I would be happy if this was our transfer business:

Kusi Asari (£5m)
Nwainu (£23m)
Balogun (£36m)
Shea Charles (£23m)
Franco Mastantuono (loan)
? Attacking midfielder (Pereira replacement)

Out:
Diop (£8m)
Reed (free)

Whether we can afford a net outlay of circa £80m remains to be seen.

I think the club should also consider decent offers for Castagne and Berge under the premise that we replace with players who are the same level or better. But obviously, if balancing the books is required - maybe that will not be so easy.

Given the earlier rumours I would be surprised if Arbeloa does not get another 1-2 young players from Madrid in addition to Mastantuono. It could be that they are cheaper replacements for players that we move on..

Realistically, we are unlikely to get any decent offers for Andersen. Maybe we can sell at the end of this season for circa £5-10m.  At that point it will be time to release Leno as the highest earner and bring in a new No 1.

Diop has been a good servant for us but at 70kpw we are clearly releasing funds from higher/ older earners to hopefully get in hungry cheaper players. I think the starting team age must have dropped to about 25-26 now.

Maybe Reed could be persuaded to go back to Southampton as part of any Charles deal. It might/coukd reduce initial spend, wages & age of squad.
