Quote from: Whitestone on Today at 12:19:37 PMSemenyo and Kane were 19-20 years old during those loan spells. Semenyo is still only 24 and has had a successful spell at Bournemouth before the big move to Man City. Muniz is hardly comparable. He's 25 now and still hasn't hit the heights. I hope the club are looking elsewhere because we will most likely be in deep trouble if they don't.

Muniz was 21, we're not talking big differences in age here. Where the other two have 'won' is that they've been played consistently. I'd love a new number 1 forward but if it doesn't happen I'm equally interested in how Arbeloa will improve Muniz.

Hindsight ?

People say that, but outside of a 7 game patch, he really has done nothing, and many people on this board were already calling for him to go, I am not sure it is hindsight really, it was just a bizzare choice

Are you just going to ignore that it has been more than just the one hot streak Muniz had, despite it being pointed out to you again and again? Surely you are not completely fact resistant?

Muniz earned his contract by following up his breakthrough hot streak the next season. Context matters.

If he's our main striker next season,I'm afraid we'll be in big trouble..Championship player,or is he even that,as he soon got benched at Middlesbrough.

Semenyo was benched for loads of a season at Bristol City, after being at Newport County on loan.
Harry Kane, benched at Leicester for a long while (whilst on loan).

It means little.

Semenyo and Kane were 19-20 years old during those loan spells. Semenyo is still only 24 and has had a successful spell at Bournemouth before the big move to Man City. Muniz is hardly comparable. He's 25 now and still hasn't hit the heights. I hope the club are looking elsewhere because we will most likely be in deep trouble if they don't.

It seemed like a relevant comparison in the context of Muniz not making the grade at Boro. What was he then, 21? He has since gone on to have two quite good PL seasons, so even if he hasn't hit the heights of for example Semenyo, he has surely shown that he is better than what he showed at Boro. Very good example again of what a lack of context in an argument will do. If Muniz Boro loan is used against him now 3 seasons on, that is in my opinion not an argument that is even remotely trying to be balanced.

We cannot under any circumstances, cross our fingers, put Muniz as our #1 Striker and hope that it works out......
That is a recipe for relegation..... especially with no Wilson / Jimenez......
Where are our goals actually going to come from?

Stick Issa up front, he knows how to strike a ball and get his head on things.
