Fulham are already working on the 'Arbeloa project' and are targeting La Fábrica (Real Madrid's youth academy).
Thiago Pitarch, Cesar Palacios, Manuel Angel, and Jorge Cestero are the main candidates to join Fulham after Arbeloa takes over the club.

All 4 of the above made starts for Real Madrid last season under Arbeloa

Pitarch??? No chance surely

Other 3 more realistic

None of us know whether any bid was made but don't let the facts get in the way of bashing the club.
Worst bit of transfer business- really?
It's nowhere near the worst piece of business. Selling Sniffer and getting Frank Large was probably the worst ever but there are plenty of other examples

People say that, but outside of a 7 game patch, he really has done nothing, and many people on this board were already calling for him to go, I am not sure it is hindsight really, it was just a bizzare choice

Atalanta were pretty public about the offer at the time.

These Real Madrid Academy players.
Just because they're at Real's Academy, doesn't mean that they're any great shakes.

Are you just going to ignore that it has been more than just the one hot streak Muniz had, despite it being pointed out to you again and again? Surely you are not completely fact resistant?

Muniz earned his contract by following up his breakthrough hot streak the next season. Context matters.

If he's our main striker next season,I'm afraid we'll be in big trouble..Championship player,or is he even that,as he soon got benched at Middlesbrough.

1 goal in 21 PL games last season, never made it to double figures in any PL season, thats just not good enough to be the main striker. 1 goal every 4 games, 23 goals in 4 seasons, the stats speak for themselves.

Semenyo was benched for loads of a season at Bristol City, after being at Newport County on loan.
Harry Kane, benched at Leicester for a long while (whilst on loan).

It means little.

If ever there was a good example of why stats don't speak for themselves, it would be this shallow and contextless cherry picked sample that you just provided.

Not that I believe that you have any interest in a fair assessment whatsoever... you clearly just want to complain.

Semenyo and Kane were 19-20 years old during those loan spells. Semenyo is still only 24 and has had a successful spell at Bournemouth before the big move to Man City. Muniz is hardly comparable. He's 25 now and still hasn't hit the heights. I hope the club are looking elsewhere because we will most likely be in deep trouble if they don't.

I know it is if and buts
If Muniz goal had stood against Brentford at home early in the season he could have had a totally different season the way he spanked that in was a player with confidence and form a few days later he got injured and his season was derailed. I think we all want him to succeed but it is definitely his last chance saloon could say the same about Smith Rowe

Don't be silly, that would be letting Sniffer go & replacing with Large or selling Mullers.

Sure...signing any young player is not a guarantee of future success...obviously.

Just being at a top academy isn't a guarantee of anything, but they at least have better success rates than other academies. It does indicate they were deemed good enough for the best youth team in their age bracket, at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Alot of these players were a part of the cup and title-winning academy teams under Arbeloa, so he knows them better than anyone...and several of them have already had first team appearances for Real Madrid.

Pitarch looks absolutely quality (doubt we'll get him though) and Arbeloa is on record as saying he believes Cestero is "the best 6 in spain" https://www.managingmadrid.com/real-madrid-cf-players/99218/alvaro-arbeloa-on-cestero-hes-the-best-6-in-spain

So sure. No ones saying they're guaranteed to be brilliant purely by assosiation... but this crop of youth players are hotly tipped, and looking around at what Paz did at como and the likes of Gonzalo Garcia from that generation are doing, gives reason to be enthusiastic if Alvaro believes they can do a job.

Thailand Mick

Raul only scored 4 outfield goals last season, From what I remember most of Mitrovic goals were headers. I remember someone possibly Marco saying that Mitro could score goals out of nothing by just putting crosses in the box. For me we have had a problem creating good chances on the floor for our number 9 and that was a tactical problem. Let's wait and see under a new coach how Muniz performs before we write him off.

Totally agree. There have certainly been times when Muniz has shown some real ability but equally there have been times when he's looked woefully short of Prem quality. I think it should become clear under a new coach whether he will make it or not.
