Probably true but, as a group, Tete, Robinson, Sess, Leno, Lukic, Muniz and Cuenca cost peanuts and have provided far better value for money than (to date) Kevin, ESR, Berge, Andersen and Bobb. Obviously, the jury is still out on Bobb and Kevin.

apparently has a 45 million euro release clause

No way that's true given they bought him for 45m. I think the confusion is that they paid his 45m release clause to sign him. He doesn't still have that

Why assume this? We have already been linked with a few top level players (Summerville, Garcia and Mastantuno) who would all be coups. Across last season only 3 teams spent below 100m (Us, Brentford and Villa). Lowest spend was 71m.

Quote from: jayffc on July 08, 2026, 12:15:28 PMGarcia and Mastantuono would be huge.

Find it hard to believe we'd get one of them, let alone both but sky sports of course a gold star source so we can but dream

Seems Skyports only mention Garcia though - only Nizar for the bbc who's mentioned Mastantuono...and he's patchy at best for us

Yeah those signings would have the potential to be Saha level transformational for us. The best way this could all go is a Tigana style raising the bar.

BBC reporting interest in those players, but then within an hour it was confirmed that Fran Garcia is off to Betis. Hopefully we move quickly, but it does definitely seem as though we're going to be looking at Madrid players, which on the face of it is quite exciting.

Don't forget Tigana took over in the Championship.

I don't realy understand the financial limits within the game now, but if as mentioned we are a little strapped with this, would it be viable to buy big if needed and give long contracts as Chelsea have done to get what we want and loan out if necessary.

SCR rules: Non-European clubs are allowed to spend a maximum of 85% of their revenue on squad costs. For clubs competing in European competitions, this limit drops to 70% to align with UEFA regulations. Squad costs are player and coach wages, agent fees, and transfer amortisation.

And for what it's worth we were close to limit year ago.

But since then we have dropped the wages of Raul (100k) Wilson (60k) and Made saving of roughly 30-50k per week on Adama (100k+ pw) in favour or Bobb (70k), and Chukqueze loan (whatever percentage of his 120k pw wages we were paying) + we're starting to make some extra revenue from the riverside opening with hotel also opening soon.

all wages above are rumoured only but likely a significant bit of room to play with on wages front.

FFP I gather we're probably in a good spot with room to loosen purse strings a bit, given we've not spent an insane amount the last few years (though also not made huge sale profits outside of Mitro/Palhinha/Stansfield.

Without wanting to state the obvious getting so many players from one source could lead to problems.
A good example was when Sanchez brought in so many of his Northern Irish team.
Only Baird stood went on to be a regular in the team.

Out of interest was Hughes here before Sanchez took over? Memory is pony nowadays.

Aaron Hughes went onto be a regular and a key, key player.
Steven Davis was a cracking player but not suited to the long ball, went onto have an excellent career.
He brought in some key players for us- Murphy, Kamara, Konchesky would all join Hughes and Baird in our Europa challenge.

Sounds like a sale or two of older squad on higher wages would also be preferable to allow purchasing younger on lower salary for SCR and resale value purposes.

And that was years after Lawrie left, and he even managed to be considered failure before eventually getting that first team spot

And I completely agree. Letting managers get their picks wont always work out for the best. Same thing with Real Madrid B-stars. Just because we might be getting a handful of Spanish talents, doesnt mean we start playing like Spain

Do you think Hilda is safe

They arent going to bring over Tamara the Real Madrid Tapas Lady?

Probably. With all the links to RCBs I wouldn't be suprised to see us part ways with Diop or even Anderson, depending on AA's assessment...IF the right deal came along. From a financial perspective Diop makes more sense to move on (given amortisation of fees and stock being high due to world cup performance)
and the younger Nigerian CB from Trabzonspor comes highly rated and perhaps would be on lower wages than Issa. (Issa rumoured on 70kpw + , Nwaiwu on 14k pw+ currently)

I can never get my head around, having a player that is doing well and the first thought is to sell him.

It appears after reading todays' 'stuff' that AA top 3 targets all RM loanees.  Not sure how to view that, unless there would be buy options....

At least Callum Wilson won't be joining FFC

Apparently Garcia went to Betis for a fee of €5 million (€3 million fixed + €2 million in variables) plus Real Madrid retain a 50% sell-on clause on any future sale.

That would certainly seem to have been within Fulham's budget.
