Quote from: Bassey the warrior on June 23, 2026, 01:04:23 PMI don't understand why we're (alledgedly) trying to sign a centre back and right back as we have plenty of depth. Conversely, we have one striker and absolutely no rumours.

Maybe because players want to leave and we need replacemens. And id be quite happy for someone to replace Anderson

Mullers OG

On the basis we need two players for each position there are a number of possible reasons to be looking for new players.

Tete has been excellent but is injury prone. Robinson may attract a substantial bid. Diop is arguably better than a back up and may look to move. Ditto Cuenca. Both unlucky to be behind solid established internationals.

If everyone stays then we're looking further forward for reinforcements up front, on the wings and in midfield. A defence of Castagne, Andersen, Bassey and Robinson is very good.

In any case, hopefully we make signing before the season kicks off.

The Athletic reporting Harry set for Leeds

I'd imagine being closer to home is the only or biggest reason to join Leeds because I doubt they are able to offer him more money and just like us they're not in Europe.

He will probably get a stonking signing fee due to no transfer fee being involved.

Sky Sports now confirming Harry is off to Leeds, the loss of goals from Raul and Wilson make us odds on relegation candidates if we do not act.

Losing this many goals and assists on a free is very bad news I agree. Not unexpected, but bad news nonetheless.

Hard work ahead this summer.

Certainly makes you wonder if the players know something we dont when they start jumping ship to Leeds, a team who only just came up!

Raul is just an age thing. Wilson will get millions in signing on fees, and his calculation will be that it's his last big payday.

Fair enough, but annoying for us.

They're paying him £120k a week after a 4 month purple patch. He'd have gone to any club offering a long contract on that salary because it's his retirement fund; we were right to not offer him those sorts of wages because it becomes a SCR burden we don't need for an inconsistent player. I think there's a semi realistic chance that within 12/18 months they'll see him as a bad signing as he cant replicate form and he's one of their top earners but good luck to them

Wasn't it rumoured somewhere that Harry's agent wanted his salary doubled to stay with us? Personally will say it's a shame he isnt staying but also add that he was equally frustrating as he was good at times. He had some very good games last year but also some average ones. If Leeds are paying him a large signing fee and north of 100k per week, good luck to him. Life moves on

Question is will he refrain from celebrating should he score against us?

A bit of perspective is needed. Wilson had a purple patch during the early part of the season just gone and is 29. Other than that he rarely held down a regular starting birth in the Premier League. As good as he is I have no doubt he is replaceable as is 35 years old Jiminez. It'll be interesting to see what deal Leeds have offered Wilson. I don't believe our fan base would be over the moon if we signed a 29 year old on a long time deal on a huge salary which is what Leeds appear to be doing. These departures give us the opportunity to bring in younger players with a sell on value.

His agent would want that, big earner for him.

Wilson is not worth big bucks and best he moves on.

More worryingly if he hadnt of had that purple patch, would we have stayed up? Agree on the reasons for losing Wilson and Rual, but none the less thats 35% of our goals, the rest of the squad can barely hit a barn door, with Iwobi and ESR being the next best on 4 and 3 respectively.

Our defense contribute very few, the DM's almost nothing, and as for our supposed striker Muniz, well there is a paper tiger right there. Big overhaul needed to bring in the goals.

Everyone is replaceable, it's just a matter of how much money we want to/can throw at it.

Bassey the warrior

I wish Harry well, good signing for Leeds. However, there were always issues with Wilson on the wing as he can't dribble or beat many players for pace. He's more of an attacking mid. With Bobb, and hopefully re-signing Chuk, we'll have more natural wingers.

With the new financial requirements we're disincentivised from signing older players on the cheap and giving high wages on shorter contracts. No more Raul Jimenez type deals.
