Is This Last Season All Over Again?

Sure looks like repeat of last couple seasons, the chance clearly for the taking to move up the table comes short.  Sure, the coach, players and fans all want to see Euro play.  But we have to ask ourselves is FFC, as currently constructed,  really ready for it?  This is not a prolific offensive club.  Our differentials are almost always at break even.  Looking forward, contribution from players like Bobb, Kevin, King, ESR, Iwobi will be expected. Can several of those younger players come good? (I really like Chukwueze, and think he will contribute.)  Is Muniz really the striker answer?  Methinks we need more attacking style players, especially an attacking mid.  Need players that can 'finish', and hopefully these younger players and any new acquisitions fill that bill.

All in all, my primary concern is staying in this league should we be exposed to a more rigorous schedule and additional games.  Staying a PL club is primary, in my world.  Should we somehow sneak into Euro spot this season, some serious additions and subtractions will need to be made.

Fingers crossed for a good season finish and mid/top half place.

From today's Sunday times -

"Marco Silva's team have developed a horrible habit of conceding late goals : they have now dropped five points in their past four games."

Forgetting who we were playing & any individual players errors, this suggests (like it or not) fundamental flaws in coaching, preparation, poor response, action & timing in using very good players on the bench.

Whether you are pro Marco or not, the fact is he is responsible for the above & the buck starts & stops with him. as the Manager apparently not willing to commit to a new contract, for reasons unknown. The longer this situation drags out the worse it becomes, for the owners, Marco himself, the team & us the poor fans.

Heaven forbid that it drags on through the summer, after Harry has moved on & as "someone" tries to build a team pre next season's start.

Come on Marco, times up now, just sign or hand in your notice that you are leaving. Spoiler alert, the grass isn't always greener

We did really well when we played five at the back, and cairney running the midfield

We have a few overated players and not enough brilliant ones.

The team tries hard but we need a much better class central midfield, iwobi, berge and lukic are all not quite good enough, iwobi needs to play on the wing.

Kevin is unfortunately very poor, is it confidence or just not good enough? I haven't  really seen him play well save for 15 mins v leeds. He loses possesion withcalarming regularity.

Wilson had a great spell where he was outstanding but has reverted to his usual level.

Five at the back v city with sess in midfield and cairney allowed to start. If so we may have a chance.

City need to win, if we play 4 2 3 1, tgey will rip us to shreds.

Leading a pack of a half-a-dozen-or-so other clubs by a single point for one week with more than a third of a season to play (which was the situation in which we found ourselves a couple of games ago) is hardly 'on the verge' of European qualification, in my opinion. We were no more 'on the verge' of finishing in the top seven than we would be 'on the verge' of winning the FA Cup were we to get past Stoke next weekend.
