Ahh, the first is to drive on it though, not park (unless it'd The m25), that's extra!
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

It's never ending greedy tax man where cars are concerned .

You pay vat when you buy it
You pay road tax to be on the roads
You pay lots of tax on the fuel or electricity
You pay vat on your insurance
You pay vat on parts

It's endless

While I understand the reluctance of individuals to pay any form of tax, I don't understand attacks on "the tax man" or "the greedy b**stards".  The 'tax man' doesn't keep our money.   Britain is broke.  It has been for a very long time. Read Paul Johnson's (former Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies) book 'Where The Money Went' and consider these facts:

Tax-to-GDP ratio: The UK raises roughly 34% to 35% of its GDP in total tax revenue.
Western European comparison: This is lower than major continental economies like France (around 43% to 45% of GDP), Italy (around 42%), and Germany (around 38% to 40%).

Social security gap: The primary reason for the lower overall tax take in the UK is lower social security/National Insurance contributions, particularly from employers, compared to continental Europe.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Agree it is extortion of hard earned money, whilst the idle and lazy get everything paid for them.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

IMO that's nonsense.

well south coast I get and agree with what you say but without actually spelling it out so much of what pay goes on what most of the nation don't want .

Yes, I understand but that's the society in which we live.  e.g. we all pay for education, roads, health and social care whether or not we have children, drive or are perfectly healthy.  🤷

It would be a lot more affordable if regular re-testing was required after a certain age.

It's expensive because statistically there are too many older people behind the wheel who aren't capable anymore.
