Leno in. That was an unfortunate miscommunication. Leno thought Bassey was going to take possession and Leno did not realize he was getting closed down from behind. Did anyone give him a shout, "man on!"?

I've never seen a poll that that asks if we should offload Rail or. U is for missing loads of goals or TC for inability to defend. Seems like Leno is this season's scapegoat.

Miscommunication 😂😂😂get rid of the ball then ask questions later that was a playground error

As long as we don't get Onana as his replacement he can go.

I've defended him a few times this season, because I thought some of the criticism he received was unjust, but his error today is indefensible.

I'm not saying we should get rid, I think we should assess it when the season is over, I'm just saying that today he made a terrible mistake, and, in my opinion, he's the only reason we lost. I think it would have been a 0-0 draw if he didn't make that mistake.

It was worse than the Josh King vs Brentford mistake and that's without adding the factor that he's a veteran player and not a teenager. I'm sorry, but what he did today was completely unacceptable to me. He had full control of the situation and then instead of clearing the ball he just stopped and stood for a moment before he started running backwards. Every time they showed the replay it looked more baffling. I really don't know what his thought process was there. Terrible...

In for me...their all in for me

He's been in decline for a while and we absolutely should be looking to upgrade asap. He makes the odd great save, but he makes as many (if not more) howlers, he has the worst stats on expected saves in the league, and he's well below average with the ball at his feet.

Given the way the club operate I expect we'll see him for another season and then he'll be off when his contract is done. What we should do is try and offload him for any transfer fee someone is willing to pay, and bring in a replacement.

I suspect the club would be delighted if they could get something for him this summer, but because of his performances and hefty contract I doubt there will be any takers.

For the record, I am of the mind that it is time to move on from Leno.  I really like the guy, but I do think it is time to move on.  He is reported to be making £130K per week / £7 million per year.  That is more than Arsenal's David Raya at £100K per week.  For me, that is too much money being spent on a keeper who keeps making major mistakes, costing games and points.

I think it would be better to bring in a new keeper this summer.  If we don't replace him enough ahead of time, we could find ourselves in a real bind and out of time.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

Bassey the warrior

Agree, Leno is more at fault but it's not a howler. He could've taken charge but so could Bassey, it was a mix up. Leno did all the hard work by getting in position and retaining his composure. It was unfortunate that's what cost us in the end, but West Ham did create and spurn other chances.

That being said, I think we should upgrade if an opportunity arises as his shot stopping from range isn't always the best but CM and striker are higher priority. Also, retaining Silva and Wilson and signing Chuk.

I've been saying that Leno needs replacing for 2 seasons, so not a knee jerk on another one of his **** ups last night.

You need a keeper that will prevent goals, not give them away. In the last few games his has given points away- W Ham and Everton when he punched the ball into his own net. There's more going back. Also, his save % is low, really low. He is now second bottom of the Premier League keepers, with only Leeds lower than him. https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/keepers/Premier-League-Stats

Look at keepers like Sels last season, he was gaining points for Forest with his displays, Kepa at Bournemouth too. We have the opposite and it needs fixing. His wages are a bit of a millstone around our neck too, £130k a week for Sunday league stuff, not good enough.

Go get that Stoke keeper and let him learn...

I suppose at the highest level they could argue "booting it out" is a bit lower league.. and to try to turn possession is the ideal scenario.

So clearly it was a miscommunication issue. Neither took responsibility for it. You either shout "mine" or you shout "your ball" or equivalent. Clearly it wasn't firm enough.

I suspect it was Leno who wasn't firm enough as it's always the GK who needs to lead that scenario if he's the one out of position.

Something Leno needs to work on at both corners and general play.

All keepers make mistakes. There is no need to replace him yet. Even tonight he made some good stops

Definitely feel we need to upgrade on Leno - and this isn't a reaction to last night. His shot stopping performance is low, let's a lot of long range shots fly past him, his distribution is poor.

Rarely drops a howler like he did last night, but it doesn't help his cause.

Can't imagine there's been many/any games last two seasons where the opposition fans leave feeling he kept us in it.

I think this image that he's a dependable keeper is completely off. He was absolutely superb in our first season back up, but three seasons now of being below average unfortunately and he's on high wages.

Jose Sa would be available for next season....

It was only 2 weeks ago he punched the ball into the net

Just don't think he'd be a big step up for us. If we really want to progress, we'll need a keeper that is saving more shots than he should. Don't think Sa or Leno is that. Sa, like Leno has had one above average season in the last 4.

Woolly Mammoth

It's all about bad habits, and once they creep in to a players game, especially a goalkeeper then it is difficult to reverse. He is suppose to train during the a week so he should be able to do the basics with his eyes closed, but he doesn't.
Yes he makes agile saves, but so
do all keepers and even on a Sunday morning.
There is more to Goalkeeping than that.
You have to command your area have strong upper body strength.
A keeper is facing play and often his defenders aren't so he has to talk to them all the time and loud enough for everyone of them to
hear.
His timings coming off his line.
Getting his angles right, cleanly dealing with crosses and his distribution.
He always looks nervous when a defender passes the ball back to him, and more often than not he wellies the ball into row Z.
He just rarely looks comfortable.
Plus I do not think he is concise or loud enough in his communication.
So for me, if Fulham want to progress they need a bigger more powerful keeper who will command his area as if it was his front garden, and be more precise when handling crosses.
Otherwise we will all be saying the same things in 12 months time.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.
