Marco Silva: Fulham deserved to be booed after humiliating FA Cup exit
Fulham crashed out of the FA Cup at home to Southampton last weekend

Fulham manager Marco Silva admits he would probably have joined in with the boos from the stands after watching his side crash out of the FA Cup, but maintains the fans have not lost their faith.

The Cottagers saw ambitions of reaching the quarter-finals ended when Sky Bet Championship Southampton secured a 1-0 win through a stoppage-time penalty from Ross Stewart.

Coming after a home Premier League defeat by relegation battlers West Ham, the Fulham supporters did not hold back in venting their frustrations at Silva and his squad following the full-time whistle.

Silva, though, believes fans were fully justified in their response as he looks to turn things back around when Fulham head to strugglers Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

"I am not concerned about the faith (of the fans) because the relations (with them) and what we have done in the football club is clear, and the ambition is always there," Silva said at a press conference.

"If you lose against Southampton at home, you cannot expect claps or ovation. For me, it is as simple as that - the boos, I think, is the minimum you can get.

"As a manager, I come from different countries where when you lose a game like that one at home, you are going to have much more than simple boos."

Silva added: "I think we deserve the boos. It is nothing about faith or not, it is a frustration in the moment that probably, if I was in the stand, I am going to do the same."

Pre-Match Analysis: Nottingham Forest prepare for the visit of Fulham
After defeat in Europe, attention turns to the Premier League survival race again as Vitor Pereira's side welcome Fulham to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest secured a 2-2 draw last time out in the Premier League, away at Manchester City. It was a point that kept them out of the bottom three on goal difference.

West Ham recorded a win last time out against Forest's opponents for this weekend Fulham. That result means that Forest and the Hammers go into this round of games sitting level on points.

Tottenham Hotspur are only just a point above. Given that West Ham play Manchester City this time and Spurs travel to Liverpool, it could be a weekend where the expectation is that Forest will put some points on the board.

It is very close at the bottom but this has the feel that, ahead of Forest's trip to Spurs next week, this could be a pivotal weekend.

When Fulham and Forest met back in December there was little between the two as it ended in a 1-0 win to the Cottagers, after a goal from the penalty spot.

The Londoners are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games against Forest, having won all three.

Forest will be looking to change that this weekend and gain a positive result. The draw in Manchester was a welcome result but this weekend it may feel as though this is a must win game at home.

    Home form could be significant

It is often the case that teams are expected to pick up more points at home than away from home. Inevitably, that is not always the case but it can be an added bonus when the home ground feels like a fortress.

Marco Silva's side are currently tenth in the table so should not be underestimated but this could be a game where Forest will feel they have a realistic chance of picking up points.

At home recently, they have dropped points against Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers and those games will disappoint Forest fans.

They did come close to securing a draw against Liverpool at home.

Forest also play fellow strugglers Burnley at home next month and that will likely be another game where many expect them to get a result.

If they can start to build some momentum and look solid at home then that would certainly help their survival hopes.

    A real need for goals

Another topic that has been discussed numerous times is Forest's lack of a killer instinct in attack.

They have created a high number of chances, particularly in recent home games, but have not been able to convert these to goals.

There remains a hope that Chris Wood may feature again at some point this season but until then the pressure remains on the players available to fill the void.

Forest should be converting more of their chances that cannot be denied because they are getting in good positions and looking dangerous yet not punishing teams.

    Vitor Pereira will not want any excuses

Forest were in action in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday but Vitor Pereira will not want that to be an excuse if they do not play well on Sunday.

It has been a difficult balancing act all season, given Forest's league position, but that is the situation for many Premier League teams.

Forest went with a strong side in midweek as it is the knockout stage of the tournament and they will be keen to progress.

They had the benefit that they were at home on Thursday so there has been less travelling involved.

It is inevitably a key week as European progression is on the line and there are also two huge league games against Fulham and Spurs to come.

Premier League survival is the priority and, whilst Sunday will not be an easy game, it is one where all eyes will be on Forest and if they can get a result at home.

It does have the potential to be a big weekend in terms of deciding the outcome of the rest of the season, despite there still being plenty of football to play.

Forest play after West Ham so will be hoping that they can capitalise on or better their result but, ultimately, Pereira's side can only think about themselves and doing their own job.

If they cannot get a result this weekend then the point at City will possibly feel slightly less valuable as it is victories and three points that are going to make the difference between now and May.

Fulham warned over Ricardo Pepi transfer as Premier League doubts raised
He's Fulham have been urged to show caution as they step up their interest in PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi. Former PSV striker René Viscaal has warned that Pepi's transition to the Premier League could be far from straightforward.

Fulham have been tracking Pepi for several months as they look to strengthen their attack. Marco Silva's side initially moved in the summer, before reviving that interest in the January transfer window.

Despite praising Pepi's qualities, Viscaal believes Fulham should be cautious about assuming his Eredivisie form will translate seamlessly to England.

"In the Netherlands, the game is played quite openly, and he can benefit from that," he said.

"In England, you have to deal with a completely different intensity, and defenders are physically much stronger. Whether he can handle that remains to be seen."

Previous struggles show why Fulham must manage expectation
Pepi's difficult stint with German club Augsburg shouldn't be held against him, according to Viscaal. But he admits it does underline how challenging adaptation can be.

"You can't judge him based on his time at Augsburg," he said. "He was younger, and he needed time to adjust to European football."

He understands why Fulham remain keen and does think that the move could still make sense if handled correctly. As far as he's concerned, such a deal only works if expectations are kept realistic.

"Fulham is not a club that plays at the absolute top level," he said.

"Such a route is perhaps more logical than a move to a very big name, where you are immediately called into question if you don't score a few times."

Risk vs reward for Fulham
Ultimately, Ricardo Pepi represents both promise and risk for Fulham.

His natural instincts in the box are difficult to ignore, but the step up to the Premier League remains a demanding one, particularly for a striker still finding consistency after injuries and past setbacks.

As reported by TeamTalk, West Ham and Fulham are leading the race to sign Dario Osorio from Midtjylland this summer, despite emerging interest from Liverpool.

Morocco set to call up Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Fulham's Issa Diop
As per a report from Foot Mercato, the Morocco national team are set to call up Lille OSC's Ayyoub Bouaddi (18) and Fulham's Issa Diop (29) for the upcoming international break.

The latter has played 15 games for Fulham this season. Diop has never represented France's senior side, however, he featured prominently at youth level and made six appearances for the U21 side. Morocco have been engaged in an attempt to convince Diop to join their national set-up for several years and the defender has now decided to respond to the call, Foot Mercato understands.

Will Bouaddi respond to the call?
Bouaddi, meanwhile, has recently broken through at Lille and he is being sold a bright future, a future that many thought would happen within the France set-up. At just 18, he has already played eight games for France's U21 side.

However, the Morocco national team are now set to call him up for the March international break. Whether he responds favourably to the call up is something else entirely. Sources close to the federation have revealed that Bouaddi has given a verbal agreement to play for the Atlas Lions. That came after a positive meeting between the federation, Bouaddi, and his family this week.
