How do we beat Parkerball??

Given the fact that we've now not hit the target in 315 mins of football now, it's worrying.

They'll have a low block along with packing the middle and sideways and backwards stuff.

Have we the players on current form to beat them?

Twig

Well given that we are now also playing Marco's version of Parkerball I confidently predict the most boring 0-0 in the history of the Prem.

Jims Dentist

So true Twig.
It gets so boring watching the ball spending so much time being passed around our back four.
By comparison Palace (among others) look to pass the ball forward as soon as they gain possession.

They should just negotiate a goalless draw and save the fans their travel costs in these war-torn times.

It's so 😴😴😴😴😴😴😴

I bet there's loads of tickets left...

0-0 guaranteed.

That used to be us when Marco first came.

And Leeds played half the match with 10 men. There have been a LOT of bad matches in the PL recently. It's not just us.

Its not just us but it is always us

Fulham 1879

It's time to face reality: Berge kills the midfield. Passes sideways, avoids the ball half the match by adopting a position where no one can pass to him, has little creativity and vision, doesn't tackle much, is slow and offers nothing offensively. He's killing us. The last few games we've lost the midfield and have been trapped in our own third playing mostly long balls because there aren't any other options. Jimenez rarely sees the ball and I felt sorry for King and Bobb today as they were largely spectators.

It's some poor souls job this week to try and flog hospitality for this game,
"The Gourmet " seems to be a bit of a steal at £718.00 per head 🤔
£718 to watch Silva v Parker !! You seriously have more money than sense if you're prepared to pay that.

blingo

That's now got a 5 0 win to us written all over it ::scarf::  ::thumb::

He has the most field player minutes on the team, 70 games now at the defensive midfield position that protects the backline (and had to drop even into the backline on occasion today).

So how does he "kills the midfield" when we were playing up to supporters' expectations earlier in the season that took us to higher in the table?

This is one of those "what coaches see" vs. "what supporters see". To my mind, he was mostly poor yesterday, but I'm sure Matt10 will lecture us all on why we're all wrong and he played magnificently.

PL Football has become really quite boring of late. Overly structured, major fear of losing, far too many touches between centre backs, and the good players seem fatigued. It's making a good case for a winter break to be honest, especially with a WC summer and most of England's players are off-form at the moment.

#16
Matches have a habit of panning out differently to expectations and truly I never quite know what's going to play out.  If Burnley have any fight left in them, this might be a game where they give it an almighty go, on the basis of "if not now, when?"  If SP has any sense (and I rather think he has), he'll be saying to his team the opposition can be got at.  Which is essentially true of every team in the league, but might resonate more against us right now.

We will be playing on a carpet again.  Forests pitch hadn't recovered from a soggy midweek carve up against the Danes.  Needing to watch the ball onto foot makes a difference to spontaneity and tactics.

So I'm hopeful it could be a good game.  Springs eternal, often confounded.

The Rock

Over the last two losses and a draw, we have had countless opportunities to be more ruthless and play that easy and very dangerous pass behind the defence, especially on the wings, but we've almost stopped doing it all together, especially on the right.

Why? Is this by design on purpose so teams might not expect us to be more creative in the final ~ 8 games?

It's obvious.

I don't think it takes being a coach to accept context, or to challenge blanket statements that are based on gut reactions of one or two moments in a match. I wrote a bit more context of the match, but rather not offend with any perceived lecturing.

At least he was super-cool while Bassey was flapping around like a deranged animal. Perhaps too cool for my liking. But wait, didn't he once score a stunning goal in a Burnley match? It left us stunned I seem to recall.
