Time for a change?

Think the quality of football in the PL, including that served up by Fulham throughout the season, is slow, ponderous but an excellent cure for insomnia.

Apparently no shots on target yesterday by Fulham, we've gone halves of football without a shot, let alone one on target.

So time for a change to the points system? Bonus point for 3 goals? Bonus point for hitting 40, 50, 60 70 goals a season?

Bonus points seems to work in rugby.

Just think it's a shame, that many are being put off by the quality of the game these days (not referring to anyone here but anecdotal via my client base).

I think the bonus points for goals was considered back when Jimmy Hill came up with the three points for a win idea (yes, it was once only two points, if you don't believe me, ask your dad). There was some concern that two teams in a relegation struggle might share a very high score draw. Purely by coincidence of course.

1970/71 The Ford Sporting League lasted 1 season. Extra points for goals scored, more for away goals & points deductions for yellow & red cards.

Not sure i agree the bonus point system works well in Union though as it detracts from good defensive efforts over a season or the golden point that was tried in League.

The quality in very many prem. games has
literally fallen off a cliff in the last month or so.
so many teams going through the motions.
possibly World cup year having an effect.
