Games for the Weekend – 08/12

This weekend we’re off to Old Trafford to give Manchester Utd a game

Man Utd v Fulham

After 3 “better” performances, our defence still needs some work but we’re going in the right direction. Playing Man Utd at Old Trafford will be one of the games that the players will have circled when the fixtures came out, I’m sure all of the lads will be up for it.

Ranieri hasn’t “tinkered” as much as I thought he would and he seams to be getting closer to playing the way he wants the team to play.

Man U had a tough game against Arsenal on Wednesday but I still think we’ll be lucky to get anything from this game, but you never know, the footballing gods may just decide to favour little old Fulham. COYW

Team against Leicester 05/12

Back to the Cottage for a mid-week game against Leicester City

over on the forum we’ve been discussion the possible line-up to face them…

In spells I thought we more than held our own against Chelsea, who’d have thought Chambers would turn in a “man of the match” performance after his fist few appearances?

team against Leicester

Subs: Betts, Ream, MLM, Seri, Vietto, AK47

I’ll be tough on MLM dropping him for Bryan however we bought him to fill the left back position? After Seri’s performances for the last couple of games I think he’ll be replaced, if Anguissa is fit then I’d use him failing that KMac

Games for Midweek 04/12

So we’re back at the Cottage where Claudio Ranieri will welcome another of his previous managerial charges Leicester City

Fulham v Leicester

Well Sundays game against Claudio’s first Premiership team wasn’t a capitulation, and as expected we didn’t get a result but gave a reasonable account of ourselves, we weren’t outplayed however against Leicester I strongly believe that we will have more of a chance to get a result. If Huddersfield loose on Tuesday evening then a win could see us out of the bottom three, that would be nice in front of our away trip to Man Utd next weekend.

Claudio’s team selection will be interesting, Seri appears to be struggling at the moment but with Anguissa injured I’m not sure who would replace him? We missed Schürrle on Sunday, hopefully he’ll be available and I’d like to see Bryan start, not that MLM played badly but Bryan was bought in as a left back.

following the result against Southampton I would largely keep the same team against Chelsea, the only change I would make is Bryan, who is now fit? for MLM.

I’ll be tough getting anything against them, but last week proved we’ve got some fight back and they are beatable

Tempted to see Bryan left back like you say.

Also perhaps see how Anguissa plays under Ranieri instead of Seri as I imagine we will be under the cosh for large portions of the game. Not expecting much to be honest..! Another languid Anguissa performance no doubt..

Games for the Weekend 01/12

We’re off to the dog track this weekend

Chelsea v Fulham

So the 2nd game in  Claudio Ranieri’s term in charge of the “Mighty Whites” is against one of his previous teams. Having got the win against Southampton, the team showed more fight having gone behind and in previous games we would have capitulated against the strong Saints finish? but we held on for our 2nd win.

Chelsea’s unbeaten run came to an end against Spurs, what are the chances Ranieri can get the lads to get a result against most expectations?

I think we did OK against Liverpool, certainly for the 1st half, and Chambers looked a completely different player. Ryan has to play a more attacking role and I can see AK47 coming on later in the game.

Games for the Weekend 24/11

Back to the Cottage for our game against Southampton this weekend

Fulham v Southampton

A new chapter starts for Fulham FC with the appointment of Claudio Ranieri and following on from the improved performance against Liverpool, perhaps we’ll see a turnaround in our fortunes. We really need to get something out of this game before the trip away to Chelsea next week.

It’ll be interesting to see how the “tinker man” sets up his Fulham side, how will Mitro’ fit-in?, can he get the best out of Seri & Anguissa?, will Ryan play a more attacking role?, and not least how will he improve the defence? interesting times ahead.

Mark Hugs, who could be the next manager to get the sack, left as Fulham manager when he decided that we didn’t have enough ambition, I wonder what he’d have thought if he’d been given £100 million worth of transfer funds?

Personally I’m sorry that Slaviša lost his job, last season we played some of the best football I’ve ever seen Fulham play and I’ll never forget our day at Wembley, I wish you the best of luck Slaviša.

Team against Liverpool 11/11

Over on the forum we’ve been discussing the team against Liverpool…

team against Liverpool

Subs: Betts, MLM, Schurrle, Ayite, Vietto, Anguissa

I know that many would have both Vietto and Schurrle in their starting 11 however I’m not convinced that either provide enough, Vietto doesn’t want to shoot? and Schurrle needs 20+ chances and I think that they don’t help the overall shape of the team.

team against Liverpool

The team has been very unbalanced recently as we have a Championship right back, and Sess doing a great job at LB when ideally he would be further forward.
It is clear therefore we need a RB and LB in January and the tide will change as it will have a knock on effect throughout the team.

Until then, we need Christie/Ayite and MLM/Sess covering our flanks as damage control…

I don’t expect this team to create many chances and Mitro will likely be isolated. However the reality is that we don’t have the players or the form to get a result at Anfield. We have to cover our weaknesses in defence as above, and use Mitro holding up the ball and counter attacks to give us a chance.

Games for the Weekend 10/11

We travel to Liverpool for a Sunday game

Liverpool v Fulham

After two easily winnable matches, well they were on paper however the actual games turned out differently!, we now get to visit one of the leagues “in form” teams, I’m not expecting much from this weekend.

There’s lots of talk about this being one of Slaviša’s last games to save his job, I hope thats not true as I think given time he’ll be able to get us back to winning ways, so perhaps he’ll be concentrating on next weeks game against Southampton?

Games for the Weekend 3/11

Our first Monday evening game sees us travelling to Huddersfield

Huddersfield v Fulham

Who decides on these idiotic fixtures where the opposing team has to travel so far for a non-weekend fixture? I can understand ‘local’ games being midweek however expecting fans to take time off work both before and after the game shows that its no longer about the supporter, by the time they get home it’ll be the early hours!

Anyhow, this must be an away game that Slaviša has penciled in as a possible win, after recent results we need to get some points and as the next away game at Liverpool I think we’ll be travelling more in hope than expectation?

Lets see if the team can provide the fireworks on the pitch
