Getting a right good chasing at the moment. Far too easy for Southampton. Is there a match thread?

PROPER goal by Southampton there. Good old fashioned forward play, two great headers. Shows EXACTLY what we're lacking up top

Apparently Jol must have told the team to play at 60% and do a lot of standing and walking. He probably also told the defence to make sure they leave all forwards unmarked. THEN - come out in the second half and win it.

All joking aside, that is our worst half of the year. 14 shots on goal to zero I just saw. Team must not care. If they want Jol to keep his job, let alone their own, they should trying playing football.

What a joke.

Post by: bill taylors apprentice on October 26, 2013, 06:23:40 PM
The game may be lost, but the 2nd half will show if there's any fight in this team.
If we start playing properly we could still get something from the game.
Oop's, we haven't so far this season so very unlikely, just more pain.

this is how we have played all season, IMO, except for 2nd half against Everton. We were lucky last week with two amazing strikes.

Jol is a poor manager for Fulham. He only seems to thrive when he has a lot of money to spend, which always leaves me wondering, that his only real skill seems to be in getting good players to play for him, and interviewing for managers jobs.

Southampton historically get most of their goals in the 2nd half of matches as they do double training sessions to build maximum stamina.

Really looking forward to our big comeback. I'm afraid it might be 4 or 5-0 when we get around to it.
Title: Re: Pathetic
Post by: Jamie88 on October 26, 2013, 06:30:53 PM
It really really does begger belief the way we have played. I mean I know Southampton are firing on all cylinders and at home, and we havent been too hot of late, but the way in which we are displaying no fight or willpower whatsoever is frankly an embarressment. I mean that last statistic that flashed up really summed it up, Southampton 14 attemps, Fulham 0. I agree, pathetic.

I had to bale this afternoon as we brace ourselves for 'the storm of the decade'. Talk about a blind panic but there you go.
Anyway I thought I'd catch a bit in a pub on the way home. First pub is showing El Classico  second pub about five people left after the second goal and the landlord turned the tele over to ............ El Classico. Lets embrace last Monday as we have resorted to average and we are simply not good viewing or a good sell. I've got home and lost out to Strictly. Sheesh.

It will probably happen though won't it. Post match interview on the lines of Berbatov was isolated, Lambert should not have sneaked off his marker, Ruiz is still learning and Bent needs more games. Losing Dembele might get rolled out again.
If Tarabt, Boateng, Kara and even good old Rodders cannot get in ahead of this lot why should they bother staying.

Title: Re: It was nice while it lasted, pathetic.......merged
Post by: leonffc on October 26, 2013, 06:58:49 PM
Berbatov hasn't fancied it from the start, Senderos has been woeful, Parker has continuously been caught on the ball in our first third, Ruiz, well has been Ruiz and Bent is poo anyway.
Riether, Amorabieta and Stekelenberg are the only ones that look like the wanted it.

What does that clown Jol work on in training because it ain't pressing, shooting, defending or possession!!

After the lucky Palace game there were people asking where the Jol haters were now. I said they'll be back by Southampton and rightly so. Can anyone seriously still defend a man with no plan at all?

the look on Jol's face is a man that seems lost. You could see him looking up at the clock, thinking to himself how much longer is the job mine. The man I'm sure is a good guy but he really should be a player/personnel director, not a manager or coach. He seems very behind the times.

Honestly, I think many of us on this forum could pick a better balanced team and set them up to at least attack and have a few shots at goal.

Jol cant see a better way he is deluded and he will drag us down if he is allowed to continue, its never going to get much better than this.

Pathetic display. Everyone standing around, led by the cancer in the locker room, Berbatov. Hardly no one moves to space or makes a run. We get pushed all over the pitch and don't even have the strength to foul the other team. The midfield, especially Parker, was simply over run. Jol pulls Bent rather than the problem man Berbatov. To think I wasted my Saturday morning on this. If they can't win can't they be entertaining?

The story goes that Murphy led a delegation to tell Mark Hughes a change was required. Not sure who would lead a delegation now but surely it must get heated in the changing rooms especially after a performance like this one. The players are being ridiculed by the media, pundits and their own fans and that must hurt. Parker has every right to tear Berbatov off a strip and whilst he is at it he might as well grab the armband. In a way I hope there is an outburst from somebody, I hope somebody tells Jol how it is and in a way I hope we can make our point next week even if it means a derogatory chant at the big useless lump. Not the Fulham way I know but things are getting really bad ..... almost distasteful.

After what must be the most gutless can't be arsed game I have watched from us that the conclusion is our training sessions mirror what we witnessed not just tonight but going back 12 months. Totally embarrssed.

Before the Palace he said he didn't know if sulky could play with Bent in the same starting line up and then plays them the following 2 games. " Sorry Maartin but we have also come to the conclusion you are not the man for the job, so please take sulky and anyone else who doesn't want to play for us, as tonight has just shown, out the f...ing door with you!!! And that performance was why some of us refused to be at all carried away by the flattering scoreline at Palace, despite criticism for being negative.  There are so many problems, I honestly do not know where we begin in turning things around.  I wish it wasn't necessary, but Jol to depart has to be the first change though, that much is clear.

Absolutely the managers fault, without doubt. You don't seriously believe its not, do you??? Jol sets the team up not to attack & keep pumping hopeless long balls forward to no one. The team looked completely disinterested as well, so we clearly have a problem with Jol's motivational skills.

As happy as I was with the much needed win against Palace (Albeit two worldies saved Jol's blushes), I said after that game it was just papering over the cracks. We are a poor team with no end product. Other teams defences don't even break sweat. 2 shots all game, 0 on target. Poor, poor, poor.

I've just read Mr Jol's post match comments.  I think he's on another planet.  He didn't set up a team to have any chance at St Mary's.

I truly believe he has lost it.

Jol is clueless, it baffles me how he sets up the team and what his orders are.

Berbatov can leave asap and stop ruining the club we love. I hate seeing him stropping about the pitch for 90mins, I'd give anything to have the chance to play for Fulham (or professional football at all) and to see him not trying really frustrates me. I CANNOT WAIT for him to leave and get some tryers back. Bring back Gera and Zamora anyday!!!

Sheesh.

I was sitting with my friends and they were wanting to watch El Classico. I insisted we watch the Fulham game when it kicked-off. As soon as it got to 1-0 I had to give it another 5-10 minutes to see how we responded and the answer is - we didn't respond.

I couldn't take it anymore, the passing and first-touch of some of the players was dreadful. The movement off the ball was non-existent. I had to relieve myself of remote-control duties because I knew we weren't going to get back into the game.  And that'll be the last time i'll get to pick what match we watch.

I remember, fondly, the days when I was inspired to travel across the Atlantic to watch a Fulham match. Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn't able to afford such luxuries.

Now that I feel a little more secure financially, the inspiration is gone. I'm not going to spend that kind of money to watch this side in person.

This is what should get Mr. Khan's attention....not my personal decisions, but that his product doesn't inspire anyone new to spend their money.

I normally plan my trips back to UK around a Fulham fixture or two. Nothing has changes for my next one. I am looking at the away games so I won't be tempted to go. Will be over the atlantic soon but at this point, for the first time in about 20 years, no desire to go to a game. (unless Jol is gone before I get there).

I have the same feelings Jarv, totally mate. I used to plan my trips across the pond based on fixtures, not so much over the past few years.

More or less the same as me then.  I will say one thing for this season.  It's made my bank balance look a lot better.  Last game I was at was Liverpool when Sturridge got the hat-trick.  I don't expect to attend at all this season..  I can't barely bring myself to watch the games on TV.

If it's looking really bad come Jan or Feb I'll probably sort out a trip for the last couple of home games so I can see an end to our Premier League era, but apart from that, I just don't fancy it.

I assume you watched the game today too?  You summed it up quite nicely..
