Title: Betis v Fulham

The match is streamed: http://www.rtvbetis.es/

Thoughts so far?

7pm GMT.

Pitch looks really small and very slow paced so far. Cairney is playing too deep.

22nd minute, 0-0. Whoever commented on Button's distribution as a weakness was spot on.

4-3-3.

Wondergoal from just inside our half. Button not having a great start in a Fulham shirt!

Judging by that goal, and his 45 minutes v Brighton - this Button guy might not be all that good

Personally I thought that was a good goal rather than bad goalkeeping

Pitch really is tiny so it's not as shocking as is seems.

For me he doesn't move quick enough there, shot from half way line should never beat the keeper over the top of his head. Has to adjust and just flip it over the bar

It was hit pretty flat though, it's not so much a lob as he more or less drilled it, and it went top corner so you could argue he could've done better, but I just see it as being beat by a very good/lucky hit.

On a side note, looking a bit weak down our left, so I expect Malone to be making an appearance in place of Sessegnon soon.

Parker and tunni in the centre are too stationary offensively, cant be used together in a flat 4..
Also very slow build up. Dry pitch?

Oh it was real and yes it was on a baseball field. It was a game in the women's league in the US, the NWSL between Rochester and Seattle a few weeks ago. Rochester has their own stadium they share with a team in the American 2nd division and a Major League Lacrosse team. It was booked for a concert  so they had to play in the baseball stadium.

I genuinely don't think he knows what he's doing - so many fouls being let go and then that fiasco. Probably not helped by the fact they're very keen to go down on minimal contact...

Really not impressed with Malone especially knowing Sess looks a talent i think Malone shouldn't be more than a back up player. Overall thought we defended really well would only like to see a couple quality players (Striker + Winger)

To be fair, the penalty was pretty harsh.  Refs really need to do a better job when the attacker jumps into the defender and flops down.  He didn't call it the first time (rightly) not sure why he did the 2nd.

Anyone writing off any individual player on the basis of one friendly (or twenty minutes thereof) needs to be ignored.

Some encouraging signs from a number of our new signings.

I think a proper creative midfielder would solve a few problems, hopefully McDonald can perform this role.

No wonder we lost. According to the offal, they made the goal as small as a postage stamp!:

"After being found by Ryan Sessegnon on the edge of the box, the striker held off his marker to turn and smash an unstoppable shot high into the postage stamp of the goal."

I've heard of moving the goal posts but that's ridiculous.

all the more reason we need a CB, so we can put someone like Kalas or Madl at right back and odoi back at left back

Agreed we need a big unit centre back.
Trouble with them is that they tend to be slow & have the turning circle of a double decker bus.We had Burn & let him go.

Malone the new jazz Richards. Lucky not to have conceded two penalties. The less we see of him the better, me thinks

As you never go it won't be a problem for you then :005:

lol. Was going to try and double last year's efforts. 8 homes and two away. But the white jazz has reminded  me not to bother. On a serious note odoi plays left Aswell doesn't he, so I'd imagine Malone will be down the pecking order

Let's not judge Scott Malone on his performance yesterday, he is a Fulham player who has just joined, plus he was instrumental in us moving Richards off our backs. So we owe him for that, plus you were wrong about Matt Smith, and I reckon you will be proved wrong with Our new recruit. Knee jerk reactions are not good for your knees, and neither is looking through keyholes on your knees.

wrong about matt Smith? So he's not just a big lump who doesn't score many goals then. Has anyone told him yet, he might be missing on purpose just to live up to the stigma surrounding him

Smudger I am sure will score his fair share given enough time on the pitch, plus his assists, and he will drag players away who are marking him away and create space for his team mates. So sometimes you need to improvise and compromise and not have tunnel vision. It's an uncompromising division, no place for faint hearts.
He is no Theiry Henry or Dennis Bergkamp, but neither is anyone else around here either.

I just checked in to see the score.... 88th minute goal and a penalty at that. mmmmm. So, managed to make same old mistakes but this time 2 in 1 go.  My viewing kept breaking down. How did the team play? Score out of 10?

Some fans are not happy unless there is someone to have a go at.  In the running and currently leading the race for the Fulham family public enemy no1 is Scott Malone.   Bit pathetic isn't it, but some people just need this to get them through life.

Yes, it's wise to get off Scott Malones back, and encourage, he is new and a Fulham player, so support him, even if he happens to have an indifferent five minutes.

Nothing wrong with parking a Double Decker in front of goal, Portugal did it and won the Euros. That lot across the River Seven do it every match.
