Title: NFR: Pet hates, everyone has them, right?
Post by: Jimsbeerbelly on May 10, 2019, 09:19:27 PM
We all have them, be interesting to find out what everyone else's is? This is a bit of fun by the way, no way intended to upset people on here, or a thread to have a dig at others, this is genuinely about pet hates outside this forum, and, definitely NFR..

Mine are..

1) People who queue at cash machines, and literally do their weeks banking, checking the balance on every account, printing statements, and not drawing out any cash.

2) People who don't indicate, especially those on the motorway, who see a gap, and just jump into it.

3) people doing a weekly shop in the petrol garage, should be shot where they stand.

Yours?

Agree with your no 1 especially when they use card 1 and then put in card 2 and sometimes even more!

No one indicates these days and it drives me mad!

People that take a basket as full as possible to the quick check out counter in supermarkets, when there are plenty of self service tills available.

People that never use cash and use a card for silly little amounts!

All good shouts.  Nature is bringing me down, Croydon seems to be under attack currently, my top 3 are:

Foxes digging deep holes all over my lawn.
An invasion of ants.
Finding slugs in the kitchen sink & dishwasher.

People who can't thank you when you hold the door open for them.
Loud background music in documentaries (or any programme).
That will do for now.

People who think that indicating gives the the right to pull out in front of you when there's not a space and expect you to drop back to let them in.

People.
People with those bloody wheely bags, that think it's a good place to stop at the top/bottom of an escalator, or any other bottle neck.
Those cyclist that wear full Lycra outfit but only have a Brompton.
Full kit w ⚓️S.
Those a-hats that get the seat next to you on the train, and then proceed to unpack all their worldly possessions, whilst you stand like a lemon in the aisle.

And people.

People in front of you at supermarket checkouts who look surprised when they are asked to pay...then spend an age looking for their credit card or laboriously start counting out cash. Meanwhile all the other tills that you might have chosen move smoothly.

All good points especially number 3, which I agree they should be shot where they stand, disembowelled, then buried, dug up and shot again.
Other than that, I have no pets I hate, I even get along with my pet Dung Beetle.

I think we are all in the same boat here. Bottom line is people with poor manners.

Mine....

heavy traffic, with only one person in each car. I thought it was just an American problem since I have lived here but on visits home (to watch Fulham) it is the same madness! I spend a lot of time in Vermont now, little or no traffic. It is wonderful.

advertising on tv (or anywhere for that matter)

basic bad manners, as stated, holding doors open, indicating etc.

My three pet hates (amongst many).

1. Idiot drivers who don`t move up in a queue (they usually wait for the car in front is 200 yds away  before moving themselves).

2. Down the beach, some "Grockle" asks "Where did you buy that" pointing to Kayak or SUP.....I mean you buy petrol for your Jam Jar at a Petrol Station don`t you?, so if your going to buy Water Sports equipment your going to go to a water sports shop/ E-bay/Amazon.......FFS don`t people think these days.

3. The God Squad to get into my property trying to tell me how to live my life, fat chance of that happening now, got security gates up now   :005:. rant Over.  092.gif

Drivers who sit in the middle lane of the motorway even when it's empty.

Fans who arrive late for a game, leave early for half time, arrive late after half time and then leave before the end. Why bother to come at all?

People who can't say a sentence without "like", "innit", "no wot I mean" being said several times. I'm sure they have something to say but I just listen for the next "innit".

Grumpy old men who make lists of things that annoy them........

1 Those who at the check out told how much they owe then take ages getting their method of payment out.

2 Those with a lack of good manners

3 Those who don't clear their dog's mess up

Oh that loud background noise on TV (not really music) which makes you turn down the volume and switch on subtitles is so annoying.
Look at channel 81 , old programmes from the fifties and sixties and it doesn't happen.
Obviously a modern trend introduced to wind up us grumpy old men.

Motorists who overtake on roundabouts, it used to be clearly stated in the Highway Code that this was not to be done.

Not cyclists in general but those that think they have a right  to ride on the pavement, was on my way to the Cottage a couple of years ago when one ran into me right in front of two policemen he rode off and when I asked the coppers what the would do there answer was "what can we do"
I take it is still illegal to ride bikes on the pavement.

1. Reading the gripes above an nodding furiously at most of them there are others. Aggressive motorists who join the motorway and immediately move to lane 3 cutting everyone up in the process.
2. Motorists who come up behind you and sit right up you ass as if it is going to make me drive faster. All I do is slow down.
3 people who ride down the escalator and step off and immediately stop and look around causing a human pile up, before casually walking away oblivious to the chaos they have caused

Padding downstairs at 6.00am to find that our pet has done something I'm going to hate cleaning up, but it just has to be done because I'm not going to sit drinking a cup of tea staring at the evidence.  Twice this week.   Rest of family stirring eventually and, on being updated that the cats in disgrace invariably responding with "poor old cat" and "let's make a fuss of him".

Love em all to bits really.

To be very controversial - 1. Fat people who are very overweight and think that it is the norm

2. Fat people who take up their own and a quarter of my seat on a plane or at the theatre.

3. Fat people who clog up the NHS .

Had this on a flight recently, I'm in the window seat my wife who weighs 7-1/2 stone has  middle seat.
Bloke waddles up to sit next to my wife he's the size of an Elephants back end dumps himself into his seat and half my wife's not a millimetre between his belly and the seat in front, he has to get an extension for his seatbelt and that just about fits around his bulk I reckon he was between 35and 40 stone , good job it was only a 2-1/2 hour flight because we didn't want the hassle of him getting up so we could use the toilet.
Now here's the bit that boils my pi$$ my wife's  case was 3 kilos over weight and she had to pay extra for it to be taken😬

Number 2 happened to me on the A3 not that long ago. I was in the fast lane (not going slowly) and a muppet in a Punto was right up my 'arris. I could have easily out done him but thought I'd play a little game and slowed down a bit. He ended up undertaking me and literally leaning out of his window to give me the finger as he went past. I was hoping I'd find him on his roof a little further down, but alas I didn't.

1.  Litter
2.  Vulgar language
3.  Exaggeration / embellished stories
4.  The appalling behaviour in the House of Commons
5.  Reporters who shout, "Are you going to resign today, Minister?" (or similarly fatuous questions) which no politician is ever going to answer.
6.  Interviewees (especially on the radio) who start every answer with, "So".  Actually it's a national disease, but will pass eventually.
&.  "Could of, should of, would of, must of", etc..  It's "could've, should've would've, must've".  It's spoken as well as written and it's been with us for 20 years, ar least.

People who ......
1- walk slowly infront of you mostly on their mobiles.
2 - In supermarkets wheeling trolleys then just stop ... I mean if they drove like this they would be putting a claim in every hour.
3 - Going through the gates at train station, they get to the gate then decide to look for ticket.
4 - Almost the same as above but queue up waiting for a bus for a few mins get on said bus THEN look for pass..!!
5 - Ones that queue up for service at take out, supermarket counter etc but then ponder on what they want when asked "can I help you"
6 - The supermarket check out person who says "would you like a bag(s)" when you have a weekly shop..."Nope Im just gonna squeeze it into my tiny pockets..!!"
7 - Kids in Pubs running around whilst parents are oblivious to the chaos its causing.
8 - Mainly Tourists especially on busy Street pavements that Just stop walking infront of you.
9 - The ones that spit chewing gum onto the floor
10 - Plastic/Armchair supporters that when their so called team beats you think its fun to rip the pee outta you.

and relax......!!

Litter and the last one in particular: It's "I have done something or I could have done something" NOT "I of done something or I could of done something".
Rising intonation at the end of a sentence that isn't a question. The source for this is "Neighbours" circa 1970s.
Starting a response (see 6 above) with "so" instead of "well". This is fairly new.
"Can I get" when they mean "may I have". The customer asks if he/she may have it, the person serving is the one who gets it.
Media as a singular when they mean medium. "This media" - I ask you!
"Referendums" when they mean referenda.
"Stadiums" when they mean stadia.
"Forums" when they mean fora.
American spelling by non-Americans.
Graham Norton.

Part of my commute is walking between Waterloo Station and Soho, and I have three major gripes:

People who are walking along but aren't looking where they are going because they are busy on their phones, or reading their Kindle, or watching something on their iPad, as they are walking.

People who use golf umbrellas the size of Belgium when it's raining.

People who drop litter.

I did it during the night as the cat kept jumping on my head so went down stairs to see if it needed food.  I didn't have my glasses on and had bare feet. I suddenly felt something squisy oozing up between my toes. You've guessed it I'd trodden on cat sick!!

He didn't touch it and as we walked along he looked up at me and said in doggie language... Gr Gr woof woof, woofie woof grrrr...Which translated said"Feckin hell do you humans actually eat that crap"..🐕🐕🐕

1. Going to a large store and getting behind some overweight gal who has her trolley parked at an angle while she stands aside it and yaks in loudly in Spanish on her bleeping phone.
2. That same gal at checkout who's still on the phone and waits until her purchases are totaled before reaching for payment.
3. Stopping for fast food and having that same woman in front of me with three kids, waiting until she's in front to ask her rugrats what they want and then arguing with each of them and the not having her payment ready while still on the phone.
(This behavior should be an immediate death sentence).
4. Gum chewers.
5. People who call fries, chips.  :005:

1, 2 and three are LA things
BTW, while reading this thread I had to Google four different words. You guys may have invented the language but your slang is often odd.

I forgot one.
I live in a hilly, rural area in the mountains north of LA. The roads out are not very straight.
We get these turds on their $5000 bikes, wearing spandex and a hat that looks like an avant-garde, inverted fruit bowl. They pedal along as if they own the road and one often has to reduce speed to a crawl because you can't see far enough ahead to swing across the line to get around them. As often as not, it is 8AM or 5PM when people or going to and from work. How can you afford a $5000 bike when you aren't working on a Tuesday?

A friend of mine adjusted his windscreen washers far to the side and when he passes one he hits the button and squirts them with washer fluid.  :005:

Use of "if" when people mean "whether". E.g. "RSVP if you're coming" "You haven't replied" "That's because I'm not coming". Whereas RSVP whether you're coming would have elicited a response either way.

People who say SOCCER.

The weekly football magazine in England in the 1950s/1960s was called "Soccer Star", so it's not an 'Americanism' - though in USA they need to say 'soccer' to differentiate it from their national hand-ball game which, strangely, is called 'football'.  Football can be Rugby, Association or American (maybe others?).  At least 'soccer' means only one thing.  All that said, it's not a word I would ever normally use.

Anyhow :

Shop assistants, etc. who say (or sing) "See you later", when you probably will never see them in your life again.  Everybody seems to do it these days.  In this context, 'later' used to mean 'later on today'.  I'm not fond of 'speak soon' in emails, either.

People who don't even acknowledge e-mails, especially when you've sent them something to their benefit.

Peopele in front of you at supermarket checkouts who look surprised when they are asked to pay...then spend an age looking for their credit card or laboriously start counting out cash. Meanwhile all the other tills that you might have chosen move smoothly.
i haven't read the whole posts on this so mine maybe duplicated.

My pet hate is people who leave their kids with the shopping at the check out and carry on shopping , hence not ready to pay and keep the queue waiting, urggg! Total selfish inconsideration.
