After witnessing the poor distribution of Betts on Saturday is it worth giving this guy another go?

Absolutely. Bettinelli has proved far too often how average he is. If Fabri is willing to honour his contract, we should play him. Or if not, give Rodak a chance.

Why would you want the manager to panic and drop Betts after just one game? That is madness

Happened to Fabri unfairly, but Rico was going to be our 1st choice. Bettinelli doesn't deserve to be No 1 as he's not our best keeper.

I think thats an unfair assumption. We have no idea why Fabri was dropped. I thought he looked suspect in pre season which followed through to his games at the start of the season. For all we know, his confidence was shot, he wasn't training well, or he had a chip on his shoulder. We don't know enough to say he should of shouldn't be dropped.

Both of these are not bad shouts.

Betts is a top notch one-on-one / point blank / reflex shot-stopper - up there with the best in this area I have seen at Fulham - but still has woeful command of his area and simply cannot deal with crosses / corners. Sadly his ability in this area is sub-Championship level, which has a knock-on effect to the defenders - it's been seen countless times the panic it causes in the box as they have no confidence he will deal with corners / free kicks. One area in a GK's game that has such a detrimental effect on the rest of the team if not right. As much as I like Betts as a person who clearly cares about the club, unfortunately I think this is the biggest area of weakness in our team presently.

Surely Fabri has the pedigree to be given another shot at Champ level (2 Prem games hardly a proper go at it)? He was successful at a "big club" in Turkey so reckon he deserves at least another go if attitude is right in training etc.

If not, then Rodak has looked solid and very promising in the games i've seen him in, plus has a full Champ season under his belt with Rotherham. Have only seen him play a handful of times but looks like a good prospect and a big guy who - importantly - commands his area well.

Betts has had more shots than most and as much as I root for him to improve, sadly he doesn't show any tangible improvement in the weakest area of his game. Time to move on and give someone else a try for the sake of the team.

Betts had a long time injured.  Deserves to be given a run as he was a key player in our promotion season and the one prior to that.

Two Ton Ted

He's not featured at all in pre season and looks to be on his way by Thursday.

Apparently he was the choice of Jokanovic's goalkeeping coach who left with him, so has been out in the cold ever since.

Personally I still think we need a number 1 as I'm not 100% certain of Bettenelli nor the back ups at the club.
Never ever bloody anything ever.

Fabri, much like Seri and Anguissa, will be gone on Loan bu the time the European window closes

No.

I agree with Fulham1959.

Nor do I think his distribution was poor.

Bassey the warrior

Whilst I think Fabri the better keeper, it doesn't make sense to play him when he's not featured at all in pre-season. I think that ship has sailed.

It twould seem that Parker is putting his faith in Betts, we have to give him a run and hope that his performances in the first five or six game will show that he can command the post for the whole season.
We need to develop a settled side and certainly don't want to be chopping and changing keepers throughout the season.

For the record im a big betts fan and agree he should be given a run but also think they need a plan for his distribution. Slav had him kicking to the wingers as i assume if there is a turnover in that area in less dangerous than in the centre.

Im just wondering why Fabri has never had a chance since those first few Prem games is there anyone ITK on this?

I'd like to know this as well. I thought he was very harshly treated.

I think the main reported problem was he couldn't speak a word of English and therefore couldn't communicate with the back 4. After that Rico signed and he was out of the picture.

I am not sure why anyone is even bothering to discussed this thread as Fabri will  be with another club  before the door shuts.

Dr Quinzel

Betts to his credit claimed a number of high balls and crosses very well on Saturday. There are aspects to each keeper that aren't ideal; Betts is probably the best of the bunch for me right now.

Woolly Mammoth

Betts for me at any time. Fabri not big enough, he will get murdered in the Championship. Plus if he cannot speak English, it was an ill judged signing in the first place. Betts may not be perfect, but he is more good  enough. What is the point of changing Betts for Fabri, madness.
