Glad to see some support for Tom Cairney
A quality player, stronger than people think,
How we need him now.

Cairney is a fantastic footballer and is arguably the biggest club legend we've had in the last 4-5 years.

He certainly doesn't fit legend status

I think you'll find that most fans would consider him to be the greatest legend the club has ever known.

Either you are a WUM or you are totally deluded. He can't hold a candle to the likes of Haynes, Cohen, Malbranque, Saha, Dempsey, Mc Bride, Dembele, and a whole host of others
Absolutely on par with Dembele, similar type of player and Cairneys far more effective regarding scoring goals

Absolutely not on a par with Dembele. Cairney wouldn't get in the Spurs team. I'd struggle to find a space for him in our first team.

You're so deluded with your TC crush, it's painful.

Best player to come from ng1 Nottingham.

As for the best since Pele at Craven Cottage, Best, Marsh, Moore,  and Cairney is better than them? I can't stop laughing.

I think we are overrating the impact of Cairney at this level.  He is just another guy that goes side to side and backwards with little cutting edge.  He pops up with a goal or assist every now and again, but for me is a very good Championship level CAM, and at the PL level he wouldnt bring us much more than RLC.

A goal or an assist every now and again be much more than what we get from RLC

The last time we were in the Premier League Cairney played 31 times. He scored one goal and had one assist to his name. As with many players who are out of the team for a long period some seem to see them through rose tinted glasses. Don't get me wrong TC is decent and has definitely been missed but he isn't the messiah.

You don't have to be the best player in the world to be a Fulham legend. That's not the way Fulham works. For instance, Simon Morgan is a Fulham legend for putting an absolute shift in for so many years when many others couldn't be bothered.

TC is a Fulham legend for scoring that goal at Wembley against Villa, for much the same reason that Roger Brown and Rodney McAree are Fulham legends - they scored crucial, memorable goals that sent us all delirious with joy and have been, and will continue to be, remembered and celebrated by us for years.

Sorry but one goal does not make you a legend

Cairney will always be a Fulham legend for me. Not the greatest of all times and probably a bit too slow on the ball for the Premier League but I will always remember the goal at Wembley and the part he played in that amazing midfield trio with KMac and StefJo. The Jokanovic promotion season was the most fun I've had watching Fulham since Tigana, possibly EVER (and no, I haven't forgotten about the Europa League). The football we played in the second half of our Joka promotion season was something I'll never forget and Cairney was the creative mastermind behind much of it. We'll never see those euphoric 5-3 wins with Parkerball, that's for sure! Kamikaze stuff, I still wonder how good that team could have been with better CBs.

You'll be lucky to see a 1-0 win under Parker

Mullers OG

TC is not in my opinion one of the very best midfielders the club has had.  Mullery, Murphy, Dembele, Houghton come to mind immediately.  But he is still a very good player who has been missed this season.  He's not the fastest or the hardest but he can pick out a pass, he can create chances and he can finish from outside the area.   We have some good solid defensive midfield players in Reed, Lemina and Anguissa but none of them can do what a fit TC is capable of.   Creativity has in my view been lacking all season borne out in the goals for statistics.

Whether he will be fit to play any part in the last few games must be doubtful but he would add something extra for Parker if he is.  I hope to see him back asap.

I think this is a fair and balanced assessment. It avoids the silly extremes of the TC lovers and haters.

FWIW I wouldn't put TC in legend status, there have been better midfielders over the years (Best and Marsh wouldn't be up there either for me, that period which also featured Moore was high on showmanship but low  on achievements).

I do however think that playing in front of a decent back 4 and players like Reed, Zambo or Lemina, then TC could deliver a welcome shot of creativity and footballing intelligence into the mix. I really think we are missing him.

You mean that Best and Marsh tackling eachother doesn't entitle them to leg end status Mr Twig???

So scoring the winning goal at Wembley, to give Fulham their first ever win at Wembley, doesn't impress you? How about leading and captaining the club to another win at Wembley over our rivals?

Would be interesting to hear your view as to who you think has been the clubs best servant over the past 4-5 years if isn't Cairney?

Cairney is not a jot like Dembele. One is a midfield cruiser weight, who can ride tackles beat a man without a trick, just by dint of changing pace. That's Dembele. Cairney on the other hand brings his team mates into the game, creates chances, and can pick a pass, a killer pass.
He can also score the odd goal or two, with a great shot.

He is the class act we have missed all season, he is the X Factor that we just don't have, and his absence is the chief reason we have not been scoring goals.
Frank and Harrison Reed would create the space and protection for Tom to shine. It is tragic we have not seen it this year.We would be at least 4 or 5 places higher up the league right now.
