Good games from Wilson, Sessegnon, King, Tete, Bassey
Noticeably poor games from Traore, ESR, Muniz, Iwobi
Andersen made several very nice long diagonals, right on the money
Leno still doesn't know what clean sheet means

Traore still one of my favorite players, but he was invisible out there.  Scratching my head....

I'm not sure we should single players out for criticism for their performance in a warm up game in July !
Surely yesterday was about blowing away the cobwebs, just imagine if we had lost 3-1 😳

Exactly that.

People need to manage expectations this time of the year.

I mean, I agree and results really don't matter. All about blowing cobwebs and expanding the lungs for match fitness. I ins are a bonus for momentum for really meaningless.

My key takeaways (it is a pre-season game which means nothing but still good to discuss!) will try and focus on positives

Leno made some good saves I thought, Andersen and Bassey both made some good passes and looked comfortable on the ball .. (in the first half we must have had 70%+ possession). Thought Sessegnon looked really good going forward at LB especially in the 1st half. Once Hudson-Odoi came on in 2nd he looked less good (defending not his strongpoint)

Thought our whole midfield did very well first half, Berge was controlling the game which I'd like to see him do more in Prem games. Josh King looked very good and sharp. Most impressed I've ever been with him I think and good to see him start a game.

Wilson, so good, two very good goals which was great to see.  Muniz and ESR both pretty invisible which were my only qualms with a very good first half performance

Second half performance was not as strong but was impressed by Lukic (loved his work rate and energy)

I see absolutely nothing wrong with fans in this forum posting constructive critique in a pre-season game.  That's what this forum is for, and that's what fans like to do.

These guys are pro athletes and have been in training for awhile, and nothing wrong with posting out good/poor performances.  We all recognize early in the overall season and it is pre-season, and players will obviously get better moving forward as more time passes and the team/players start to gel and understand the system and get their legs under themselves.

Two of my favorite players in Muniz and Traore had rather poor shows.  Am I worried or concerned about it?  Of course not.  I acknowledge it is pre-season and this is just basically an advanced training session.  Fully expect to see improvement moving forward.

Agree with this.

Also, I think it's important to note that players like Adama, Diop, Cuenca, Castagne,(maybe even Iwobi and Reed) played against much higher level of opposition than the players in the first half did. I'm not saying that Wilson wouldn't have had a better game than Adama, or Tete than Castagne, etc regardless of the half they played in, I'm just saying that this made the gap even bigger than it would normally have been (i.e. some of the "poor" performances might not have been as visible if they were against Forest academy players).

P.S. I thought Muniz was decent in the second half for the time he was on the pitch. Nothing spectacular, but few moments of decent hold up play and also great skill to get on the end of a long ball from midfield(Lukic or Reed passed it, not sure which) which led to one of our better chances in the second half.

Muniz also put a lovely ball across the box from wide right, alas nobody ran into the 6 yard box to tap it in.
