It's hard breaking down teams that play like this but we are really poor at giving it a go.
Just consistently move the ball so slowly.

Coastwalker

Kevin not looking like a 34 million signing at the moment.

Listening to Jim, the ref has had a dubious half at best.

Why are you guys shocked? They are literally playing park the bus and not offering any space for any players. To say ESR has been poor has not been watching. Literally 0 space. No player has any space when they get the ball due to their defensive structure. There is a reason we have 82% of the possession. I think even if we started our normal players it would look similar. The plan for them is obviously get to PKs.

Is Robinson overhanging actually impeding his game as he feels forced to come inside?

Possibly, but he's being double marked out wide. Silva appeared to be instructing him to pass and move more

Listened to The Imps manager earlier today, Michael Skubala. Impressive.

Really? Barely anything to call, Reed yellow was nailed on given how wildly far out he was

Boring first half. Diop and Cuenca our best players. Neither had a lot to do, but both looked extremely assured when called upon. Some great passes from them as well.

I agree that Adama hasn't been at his best, but he did have a good cross towards the back post at the beginning of the match and looked okay in the last 10 or so minutes. I don't think he was much worse than Kevin tbf. ESR had one good moment when he was pulled down by their defender and that should have been a foul for us, other than that he wasn't positive enough imo.

The player I'm most disappointed with, however, is Raul. I thought he was incredibly poor so far today.

Milo

ESR not doing too bad tbh. His game is always a bit "give and go" which is very e.g. Arsenal esque.. but he needs to dribble with the ball more.

Which he is trying AR and ESR simply turn backwards

They're league one in fact, unable to watch at the moment but not being able to get an early goal is turning this into a nervy game.

Cambridge are 9th in league 2!

Whoops, my bad! Yes they're league 2 😅, sorry - my livescore keeps being weird and showing old cancelled fixtures from years ago as next game.

ESR needs to be stronger than that pull, looked more like the change of direction caused him to slip

He should have given a foul on ESR when his shirt was pulled, but other than that, I thought ref did just about everything right. Referee is not the problem today, we just need to do better here.

I've decided to join an on-line bridge tournament. Far more adrenaline fuelled!

I think we should go 4-4-2 and start going long a bit and try to win those second balls. Also to try and break up their back line which hasn't been stretched at all & break up their shape

S.F.Sorrow

Diop probably our best player so far, which pretty much says it all. Not a very impressive performance against a League Two side. They've parked the bus so not easy to break down, but still... Our lack of depth in central midfield is cause for concern. Reed lacks the creativity to unlock a tight defence and Cairney is far too slow on the ball. Cambridge with the best chance of the game so far.

Hopefully we will wear them down and get the goal we need.

Wilson to come on and score a long ranger
