This thread  :slap:

I doubt we'll sign anyone this Jan.

Hatch007

Please let us not sign any players looking to return from Saudi to the PL.

Their primary motivation for leaving in the first place was financial, not sporting.

We should absolutely look to sign players such as Iwobi/ESR, EPL players looking to reignite their careers, or young players with a high ceiling and potential elevated resale value.

Neves can go to West Ham. I bet he's just the right character you need in a relegation battle 👀

Quote from: C Block on January 14, 2026, 11:41:08 AMSimple really, you use the three months before the window opens to identify players that the parent club would be willing to sell and players that would be willing to join,
In the exact same way that West Ham did when they signed two strikers as soon as the window opened, that wasn't luck that was solid research and preparation something we fall short on.
@Jims Dentist and @bill taylors apprentice (since you both liked C Block's above post)

Not to appear antagonistic nor confrontational, just genuinely curious, given:

A) the subsequent responses on this forum to C Block's post
B) the numerous PL Managers that have expressed in press conferences multiple times how difficult the January window is
and
C) Jay's summary of the entire window to date in respect of all 20 PP clubs ...

do you all still believe signing new players in January is "simple"?

Surely worth a punt at that price? We should get back on that deal.

Not sure he's any better than what we've got and he's not exactly coming from a good league. 4G & 3A in the Swiss league in one of the best teams isn't much to write home about, and he can't get in the Nigeria squad either so at most I guess he'd be an Adama replacement and a semi underwhelming one at that given they're going to want a ballpark €10m for him

Yeh I didn't fancy him in the summer, was underwhelmed with that link, fortunately, if any truth, it materialsed he was a backup option. If he'd signed I'd have got behind him of course, he's got some skill etc, but just doesn't look like a player who would elevate us massively.

I'm a bit concerned the interest in him on a loan could indicate King's knee is going to keep him out for longer than expected.

Hopefully it is just a possible stop gap for Traore leaving. I have to admit him working as a left footed understudy to Wilson from the right does sound appealing though.

👀

Thing is if it's just a loan I think we actually would be a preferable option for his club, in terms of not being a threat to arsenal at the top ,and potentially helping take points off rivals whilst at home in London and alongside familiar hale end boys.

Torn though.

For the player I'm not sure where he plays LW or the 8 most likely in terms of our obvious needs, and if he claims the spot as his own then one of our permanent players is missing out.

If there's no option only justifications would be

1. It does make us really competitive for Europe this year
2. Puts us in the window as a logical choice for the lad if he has to leave arsenal later maybe? But if he does great there'll be bigger offers potentially anyway

Tricky one. On paper of absolute love to have him here , just dreaming of an option 😅

King, Tete and Muniz all shown in training video today.

He also has 2 goals in 6 Europa League matches. Scored a great goal against Freiburg for example:

From what I've read, he's a very good player.

I just think at that price it's a no-brainer. If it works out, we get an incredible deal, if it doesn't work out, the price means it's not a huge loss financially for us.

If Arteta really fancied Nwaneri as a starting XI option I don't think he'd have approved the acquisitions of Eze AND Madwueke.

I saw Nwaneri live when I was at the Emirates last season as Arsenal walloped Man City 5-1. Nwaneri played on the right and scored the fifth goal cutting in on his left. Looked class on the day.

The player is still only 18, however, so still time for him to evolve into a regular for Arsenal. I'd be surprised if we were able to sign him permanently or on loan with an option

I don't think many transfers are simple and I didn't take the words "simple really" literally, meaning every transfer is easy and I doubt  C Block was suggesting that either.
Rather you have to have a structure in place for all recruitment, including all the homework necessary on the potential signing.

Then depending on the situation (of which there will be numerous) you work through the process step by step and within the limits of what you can offer which has been set in advance.
This means you win some and probably lose many but like any job you need a plan and stick to it, simple!

Bassey the warrior

Everton have apparently put in a bid to sign Youssef En-Nesyri on loan with an option. I remember he was quality at Sevilla, has anyone followed his carter since?

If chuk misses a pen having been given no time to make a difference in the game and Nigeria get knocked out

I'm flying out there and giving the Nigeria coach a slap 😅

Looks like I'm booking a flight

Chukwueze misses with a really poor penalty

Stupid decision to send him in with no chance to get a touch on the ball. Gutted for him

Urgh

Nigeria twitter now absolutely rinsing him of course. Winds me up. Coach shouldnt have put him in that position in the first place

And Nigeria are out
Absolutely gutted for the boys

Quote from: General on January 14, 2026, 09:24:34 AMSlightly concerning, even with our form, that Marco has clearly said we need players this Jan and have a light squad and nothing seems to be close half way through the month. Why are the club so inept at doing timely business?
Incompetent/not bothered DoF? Maybe has Dormouse DNA and hibernates during January?
