Woolly Mammoth

Centre Midfield and Striker is essential if we are to complete the jigsaw.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Yes tend to agree with you. The midfield player might currently be with our form the most important.

BREAKING: Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal in principle with Inter Milan to sign midfielder Davide Frattesi, according to Sky in Italy

How do they attract these players??

Probably based of ambition or convincing a player where they want to be

I'm not sure we need an attacking midfielder, when I think of an attacking midfielder I think of ESR, King and Iwobi. But I suppose it depends on your definition. I think someone similar to Danny Murphy is what are missing in the centre of the park someone who can do both.

Murphy was a player of such quality, if we can get someone half as good I'd be delighted. Completely agree it would top this team off very nicely.

Murphy was probably the best signing we made in the last 20 years

His real value was his ability as a captain. An on field manager. He spent a good percentage of his ninety minutes pointing at and shouting at team mates.

CM and Striker essential if we want Europe. I get what people are saying in terms of we will be ok waiting till summer, yes we will be OK, but that's OK if you are content with 12th to 14th in the table.

I can't say I quite understand where the club want to be, we don't appear to project a vision of where we want to get to

I'm sure I read somewhere that Marco had outlined the plan. To establish us in the the Prem with Prem quality players, then sign younger players with potential to move up the league.

I can't remember where I read it, but I would think that most midtable clubs have a similar plan to.

Most of the players they signed in the summer have flopped, they have signed more than 50 players since promotion.

12th to 14th?   If West Ham continue on a roll they will finish with possibly over 40 points so nobody in the middle of the table is safe yet. Anybody can beat anybody this season in the premier league except maybe for the bottom two and it's possible that one team could go on a bad losing streak.

A European place would be great but personally think we need a couple more players in the next couple of days to achieve this goal.

Silva looks to be genuinely delighted with the Bobb signing. Praising the board and none of the thinly veiled digs we've seen in the past. Just wondering if the funds are there for a striker and a midfielder. Think Pepi will still happen, if we were somehow able to get a quality midfielder in  Atta ? Etc then this could be a sensational window. Could we dare to dream that we can push on and maybe maintain the position we currently find ourselves in?

Posted it here when he said it at a press conference after this summer and the other day again.

And it aligns with what other interviews have said about our approach this time to promotion, sustainable growth etc. all which the riverside project appear tied to (creating extra revenue to allow more room with financial restrictions etc)

Between those things accumulatively it's basically suggested it's been as you'd expect

Stay up - survive - establish club at this level - try hit top 10 - try and compete for Europe and/or win a cup   were somewhere between the last 2 having pushed for top 10 last year but just missing out. Now it appears is the phase of sprinkling in youth and bigger moves to an established experienced core.

Agreed. Other competitors are Schwarzer on a free, Hangeland for 2.5m, Hughes for 1m.

It is a weird one. They clearly have a way of courting players that are on paper above their grade.

Kept hold of MGW when he was on verge of leaving, seemingly Mateta was interested, almost took Willian from us - we're led to believe he was wined and dined in Greece.

Beyond salaries, which probably aren't that different, I'm not sure what they're doing that's so persuasive. We all know Marinakis is a dodgy guy but its a bit over my head.

Jay has posted it 157 times so you probably read it there.

In reality in terms of age we went in a different "direction" (Silva's words) to most mid-table clubs by going for older players. Then decided "now is the time" to change that direction.

If Kent's talking purely about "ambition", I'd sat that correlates more with spending levels in practical terms. But i agree, in that respect we were clearly until recently content to hang around in 12/13th, and now there are signs we're pushing for something else. If we sign another big name this weekend, given we've historically spent very little in January, personally I'd interpret that as going almost flat out for European qualification now.

Heard just now on the wireless that Forest agreed terms with Man.City about Ortega. Not sure of fee but he is one I was hoping this summer we could entice to compete with Leno next season. Hoping this summer we sign a keeper to compete with Leno and not just a Cup goalie/s?

Someone like Marinakis probably buys the players a house and car but he owns the house and car and all the expenses/taxes he writes off as debts

Bloody weird as they already have Selz and Victor. Nothing makes much sense about how they construct their squad. Dressing room harmony must be terrible.

It worries me more when Silva is calm
