Jack and Loz at the Cottage - Blog 333
Date: 1 March 2026
Opposition: Tottenham Hotspur
Score: 2-1
Fulham goal scorers: Harry F Wilson, Alex Iwobi
Weather: could spring be on its way?
Atmosphere: nervous
MOTM: Box-to-Box doesn't do justice to Alex's role on Sunday afternoon. He was everywhere on the pitch, doing every job required of him. Always in space, always available, driving forward, tracking back, linking up with left and right, and, of course, scoring a beautiful goal. Huge shout out to Issa Diop for stepping in and stepping up - under appreciated but not just an understudy
Moment of the Match: Issa's exquisitely timed and perfectly executed sliding tackle in the first half drew applause from Bernd Leno and gasps from the crowd. Even the Spurs players were too impressed to moan
Lunch: Pret
Post match drinks: the Riverside
Dinner: Riverside Studios

How the mighty are fallen. How fast and how far.

Not so long ago, Fulham would approach a match with Spurs hoping for a hard-fought draw. On Sunday, we went into the game as favourites - not where we like to be but the predictions were justified and ultimately proved correct.

We were excited to see Oscar start and were unconcerned about the replacement of Andersen (presumably struck down with man flu) with Issa Diop. Issa is a consummate pro - gives 100% when called upon; doesn't moan or sulk when he's left out of the squad. We've said this already but it bears repeating, Issa was outstanding all game. Marco has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to centre backs.

Fulham were dominant from the start, keeping possession, sweeping around midfield and slicing through the Spurs defence. Admittedly, our opponent's supposedly star players made this easy by being crap but that takes nothing away from Fulham's performance - you can only beat what's in front of you.

Some enterprising forward play from Kenny led to the first goal. His long diagonal pass was scooped up by Oscar, battled for by Raúl, nodded on by a helpful Spurs player and smashed into the back of the net by the unstoppable Harry F. The Spurs players and their (probably very) interim manager protested but were welcomed to the world outside the top 6 where every decision doesn't go your way.

There is a strong possibility that every Premier League Goal of the Season contender will have been scored by a Fulham player. Alex's latest effort was a bottom corner bullet fired from outside of the box and the inside of his foot. It ricocheted off the post, leaving Spurs' hapless goalie sprawled helplessly on the turf.

Whilst Harry and Alex got their names on the scoresheet, we have to mentioned the dazzling forward play from Oscar, particularly when he combined with Sess. Our nimble thimble wriggles in and out of small spaces with the ball stuck to his feet and makes the most of his tight turning circle. A few more games to fully integrate and he's going to be a star. The intricate play between Oscar and Alex later on might not have led to a goal but it was football at its entertaining best.

The half ended with an unfortunate miss from the otherwise excellent Bassey. It was a reminder we didn't need of what had happened against Everton - we'd wasted chances in a decent first half and...well, let's not go there but even with a 2 goal lead Fulham fans couldn't just sit back and enjoy the football.

Our nerves didn't dissipate at the start of the second half when ESR - who otherwise had a good game - managed to miss 2 inviting chances in quick succession. It was frustrating for the fans but even more so for Raúl who spent most of his remaining time on the pitch racing forwards and skidding into the back of the net.

Although things didn't take an Evertonesque nosedive, Spurs improved once their subs came on (although they couldn't have got much worse). They included Richarlison who had spent most of his warm-up chatting up women in the Riverside Stand. Whilst his goal was well taken, the defensive lapses that allowed it were annoying. The fact of the matter is, we should have kept a clean sheet and a more clinical team would have scored more goals against such poor opposition.

Instead, it felt like we were hanging on at the end as Spurs managed to ramp up the pressure. Luckily, our stalwart Tom Cairney had come on to calm the rising panic and keep the ball coming back towards the Hammy End, even if his teammates didn't manage to do much with it when it got there. Of the other subs, Muniz didn't do a lot, Josh was busy but unproductive and Samu looked a bit rusty. We were worried about the defensive sub as they often backfire but Cuenca was an assured addition and we saw the game out

As bad as Spurs were, to do the double over any side in the Premier League is a big achievement. But whilst this was a good performance, there were some unsteady Moments and some wasted opportunities. We've said it often this season, but why can't we play well for both halves of a game? If we could conquer our inconsistency Europe would be a destination and not still a dream.

Random musings:-

- João Palhinha is a shadow of his former self but his reaction at the end of the game was heart wrenching. With his heart gesture and prolonged applause to the Hammy End, he clearly wants to come home. In that Moment, we would all have welcomed him....

- Talking of former players it was great to see Giorgos Karagounis and John Evanson at half time. Does Kara not meet the criteria for a Forever Fulham award though???

- Sess was in the Riverside for the post-match chat for the second time this season

- Great for Harry to score on St David's Day

- Of course, Tudor is a Welsh name....

- The ref was ok but seemed to give Spurs every decision in the second half

- We're not sure which was funnier - the Spurs goalie going up for a corner like it was a cup match or his attacking free kick which sailed into the Putney End.

Reaching 40 points is always an important staging post. This year, we've done it early and in some style. But the season so far has been far from faultless with mistakes on the pitch and distractions off it.

Sunday's match was the start of a busy month; a season-defining month. During Marco's tenure, March has often been the time when malaise sets it. This year, we can't let that happen. There is still a quarter of the season left to play - plenty of time to make it a memorable one.

Preview: Fulham vs West Ham United - prediction, team news, lineups
Looking to secure consecutive London derby victories at Craven Cottage, Fulham host West Ham United in Wednesday's Premier League clash.

Marco Silva's men enter into this encounter on the back of a 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, a day after the Hammers suffered a 5–2 thrashing at Liverpool.

Match preview

After kicking off February with three straight defeats - all in the league - Fulham appear to have found their rhythm, winning three consecutive games, starting with victory at Stoke City to secure a place in the FA Cup fifth round.

That was followed by a second-half-inspired win at Sunderland, but the Cottagers burst out of the blocks against Tottenham on Sunday, with Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi firing them into a 2–0 lead before the interval, leaving Richarlison's 66th-minute effort little more than a consolation.

The result saw Fulham move up a spot to ninth in the Premier League table and within five points of a faltering Chelsea in sixth, while it also saw the Cottagers record their first top-flight double over Spurs in 22 years.

A similar opportunity now presents itself on Wednesday, as the West London club bid to complete just their second Premier League season sweep of West Ham - previously achieving the feat in 2023–24 - having edged a late winner at the London Stadium in December.

Winning five of their last seven home matches across all competitions should hand Fulham plenty of belief, particularly having scored multiple goals in five matches during that period, providing a further boost against defensively frail opposition.

Indeed, only Burnley (56) have conceded more times in the Premier League campaign than West Ham's 54, with those defensive frailties again exposed on Saturday at Anfield, where the Hammers' vulnerability from dead balls was laid bare.

Level with Bournemouth on 16 goals shipped from set-piece situations (excluding penalties), Nuno Espirito Santo's men were undone by three first-half corner routines from Liverpool, proving an insurmountable margin despite a much-improved display after the interval that saw strikes from Tomas Soucek and Taty Castellanos.

The defeat ended West Ham's three-game unbeaten run in the league (W1, D2)  - and four across all competitions, including their FA Cup penalty triumph over Burton Albion - following a win against Burnley and draws with a rejuvenated Manchester United and Bournemouth in the previous top-flight fixtures.

Putting recent results into perspective, the East London outfit have actually shown signs of improvement, picking up 11 points from their last seven Premier League outings, seven more than they managed across the previous 10, where they failed to win a single game.

Despite this marginal upturn, the Hammers remain rooted in the relegation zone, sitting 18th and two points adrift of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who face an uphill task at title-chasing Manchester City on Wednesday, meaning a favourable result there, combined with a win at the Cottage, would lift West Ham out of the drop zone.

However, a wretched record against fellow London rivals leaves room for concern, as the visitors have lost seven of their eight Premier League city derbies this season (W1), with only three sides suffering more such defeats in a single campaign.

Team News

Fulham's victory over Tottenham did not come without sacrifice, as Wilson was withdrawn in the second half with a twisted ankle, and if unfit before Wednesday's London derby, Samuel Chukwueze is likely to start on the right flank of attack.

This marks consecutive matches in which the Cottagers have suffered injury casualties, following winger Kevin's foot injury against Sunderland, which will require surgery and could sideline him for weeks.

Meanwhile, centre-back Joachim Andersen - absent last time out due to illness - and Serbia midfielder Sasa Lukic, who has been sidelined since mid-January with a hamstring issue, could both return on Wednesday.

West Ham appear to have no new injury concerns following their previous outing, meaning January signing Pablo (calf) and backup goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (back), perhaps, remain the only players in the treatment room.

Central midfielder Freddie Potts will serve the final game of a three-match ban, so Soucek, Soungoutou Magassa and Mateus Fernandes could once again form the Hammers' engine room.

Fulham possible starting lineup:

Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, Iwobi; Chukwueze, Smith Rowe, Bobb; Jimenez

West Ham United possible starting lineup:

Hermansen; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf; Bowen, Magassa, Soucek, Summerville; Fernandes; Castellanos

Ten Without a Win and Counting – Spurs Sleepwalk While Fulham Dream of Europe
Another weekend, another reality check – while Fulham eye Europe, we're squinting nervously at the relegation zone and pretending everything's fine.

Well then. If anyone was hoping 2026 might gently improve for us after the small matter of ten league games without a win, Craven Cottage had other ideas. Relegation-threatened Tottenham (yes, it still feels odd typing that) trudged off again, beaten 2-1 by a Fulham side who look like they're planning summer holidays in Europe while we're browsing survival guides.

Under our new boss Igor Tudor, we've now managed two matches, two defeats, and six goals conceded. It's early days, of course. We're calm. Perfectly calm. Absolutely not nervously checking the table every 15 minutes.

Early Blow, Familiar Feeling
It took Fulham seven minutes to score. Seven. We barely had time to settle into our usual cautious optimism before Harry Wilson volleyed home his ninth of the season from six yards out.

Now, Tudor was understandably incandescent. In the build-up, Raúl Jiménez appeared to shove Radu Drăgușin as they contested a cross from Kenny Tete. The ball eventually found its way to Wilson, who did what strikers tend to do against us – finish clinically.

Last week against Arsenal, we had a goal chalked off for a foul by Randal Kolo Muani on Gabriel Magalhães. This time, VAR – with Craig Pawson overseeing matters – took a look and decided Fulham's was absolutely fine.

Consistency is all we ask. We just don't often receive it.

No Arguments About the Second
If the first stung, the second was entirely self-inflicted. On 34 minutes, Alex Iwobi was allowed the sort of space in front of goal usually reserved for testimonial matches. After a neat exchange with Wilson, he lashed one in from 18 yards. It clipped the inside of the post and nestled in. Lovely finish. Painful viewing.

Fulham could, and probably should, have had three before half-time. Calvin Bassey blazed over from close range, while Jiménez and Emile Smith Rowe both spurned opportunities. On another day, it's 4-0 and we're discussing damage limitation.

A Flicker of Hope (Briefly)
To our credit – and we'll cling to whatever credit we can find – we did respond. In the 66th minute, substitute Richarlison rose to head home a cross from Archie Gray. A proper striker's header, too.

That goal carried a small nugget of pride: Richarlison became the first Brazilian to score 20 headed Premier League goals. A niche statistic, yes, but we're collecting whatever silverware we can at the moment.

For a few fleeting minutes, it felt like momentum might swing. Fulham wobbled. Their captain Tom Cairney nearly scored with his first touch off the bench. The home crowd grew edgy. We pressed, probed, and... largely fizzled out.

A late effort from Pape Matar Sarr hit the side-netting. A blocked shot in stoppage time caused mild alarm. But if we're honest, we rarely looked like equalising.

One shot on target all game. One. It happened to be our goal.

The Bigger Picture (Deep Breaths Required)
We are now 16th. Four points above the relegation zone. Ten matches without a league win – our worst run since the days of Ossie Ardiles in 1994, when we scraped survival by three points and finished 15th.

Let's just say history isn't exactly comforting.

Tudor insisted in his first press conference he was "100%" confident we would stay up. He's built a reputation on dragging teams out of trouble. But what he's inherited is fragile at the back and blunt up front. The second-half collapse against Arsenal and this defeat at Fulham are not minor teething problems – they're warning flares.

Meanwhile, credit where it's due. Marco Silva has Fulham ninth, level on points with eighth-placed Everton on goal difference. Eighth might just sneak into Europe this season. Fulham haven't played European football since 2012-13, and they're daring to dream.

Their eighth home win in 14 at Craven Cottage keeps that dream alive. They completed a league double over us for only the second time in their history. Naturally, we were involved.

What Now?
Fulham host West Ham United next, then have an FA Cup tie against Southampton. They'll be targeting more momentum.

We, meanwhile, welcome Crystal Palace – who sit six points above us – to north London. A win isn't just desirable. It's essential.

We've been in the top flight every season bar one since 1977-78. That's a point of pride. But pride doesn't earn points. Right now, we are the only Premier League side without a league win in 2026.

Still, we're Spurs. We do drama. We do chaos. Perhaps we're simply saving the great escape for a suitably theatrical finale.

Comforting thought, that.

Isn't it?

'Quality' Fulham player now admits he'd actually like to play for Nottingham Forest
Fulham are flying high under Marco Silva this season, and Nottingham Forest could do with trying to emulate them to a certain degree.

The Cottagers don't splash out fortunes on transfer fees like Forest do, but what they do get is players who run through brick walls for their manager on a consistent basis.

Forest are enduring a miserable season at the moment, and relegation looks probable at the moment, unlike Fulham, who are eyeing up a place in Europe.

It would appear, however, that Forest are still a desirable club for players, with Fulham star Tom Cairney making an intriguing claim.

Tom Cairney admits he'd love to play for Forest
The midfielder has been doing a question and answer session with TalkSPORT after the recent win over Tottenham and he was asked which team he'd like to play for that he hasn't already.

Cairney, born in Nottingham, said Forest, with his family big supporters of the football club.

The versatile midfielder has been a revelation since signing for Fulham, captaining the team to promotion and making 376 appearances for the football club.

Cairney isn't a regular in the team these days and has started just three Premier League games during the 2025/26 campaign.

Still, he's a vital component of Silva's squad and he's a very popular influence in the Fulham dressing room.

Cairney would be ideal if Forest are relegated
At 35, it's hard to imagine Cairney getting the call from Forest if the club gets out of their current predicament and remains in the Premier League.

Cairney has another year to run on his deal at Craven Cottage, and the chances of him getting another Premier League deal feel very slim indeed.

If Forest go down, however, he'd be the ideal piece of experience that the team needs to try and come straight back to the Premier League.

The Reds need to do whatever it takes to remain a Premier League club, but with West Ham playing well at the moment, it's hard to imagine the team staying up.

What happens with Cairney in the summer remains to be seen, but given his age, there is a real possibility that Fulham move him on, and that might open the door for Forest.

Chris Sutton and Paul Merson disagree over Fulham vs West Ham predictions as 'on fire' claim made
A look at the pundit predictions for the all-London clash between Fulham and West Ham.

West Ham and Fulham are back in action on Wednesday night when they face off. The Hammers produced a spirited display against Liverpool over the weekend but were undone by some poor set-piece defending, as seems to be the way for most teams in the Premier League currently.

But there was no damage done in the points column, with Nottingham Forest also losing, and the East Midlands club face Manchester City during the week, potentially giving the Hammers an opportunity. But Fulham will be tricky customers, now within three points of the European spots having picked up another big win over the weekend, defeating Tottenham

Ahead of what will be a fascinating game at Craven Cottage, we have rounded up the pundit predictions from BBC Sport's Chris Sutton and SportsKeeda's Paul Merson.

Chris Sutton
"West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was very upbeat about his side's performance at Anfield on Saturday, but they lost 5-2. The only consolation for the Hammers is that the teams immediately above them all lost too.

"They lost at home to Fulham in December and I don't see them getting anything on Wednesday, either. Marco Silva's side played really well in their win against Tottenham on Sunday and Harry Wilson is on fire - my advice is to get him in your Fantasy Premier League team, now. Prediction: 2-1."

Paul Merson
"Fulham got a big result against Tottenham last weekend. They are playing well at the moment. But I have a strange feeling about West Ham in this one. This is a must not lose game for West Ham and I expect them to bring that fight with them. I believe the scoreline against Liverpool did not do justice to their performance.

"I'm backing West Ham to win and produce a huge result that will turn things around at the bottom of the table. It can all change again next week in the relegation battle though. That's just the nature of it. Prediction: Fulham 1-2 West Ham United."

Why Shad Khan's (financial) loss is Fulham's gain - and how he can claw back some cash
A look at the Khans' financial investment into the Whites and how they might recoup some of it.

The Athletic recently reported that Fulham is worth between £560m and £620m today. Shad Khan paid £121.1m for Fulham in July 2013 and has reportedly since ploughed in another £788m in improvements into the club. Based on these estimates, Mr. Khan is on track to lose nearly one third – or £300m – of his more than £900m investment in Fulham.

Given the inherent financial constraints facing the club, particularly with the advent of Squad Cost Ratio spending limits, there is one clear way for Mr. Khan to get his money back – by getting us to Europe.

Fulham is an outlier for the Khans. Most of their sports investments have paid off in a big way. Shad Khan bought the Jacksonville Jaguars for $770m in 2011. Even after a $2bn-plus investment in local real estate and the Jags stadium (which Mr. Khan has not funded by himself), Khan's investment in the Jags has really paid off. The team, according to Forbes, is now worth $5.6bn which, assuming a $2.77bn total investment, means that the Khans have more than doubled their money (with a $2.83bn net gain).

While I know many of us like to make fun of Tony and All Elite Wrestling (AEW), it has been an even better bet for the Khans. AEW recently announced a major TV deal. The Khans invested a reported "eight figures" (so less than $100m) to start the new wrestling federation, which is now valued at a reported $2bn. It's not been disclosed how much more the Khans have put in all together, but it's clear that they have made a killing on AEW (potentially more than 10x their initial investment).

Looking at these numbers, it's not unreasonable to assume that the Khans might just say "screw it", sell Fulham and take the loss like any smart investor would on a bet that doesn't pay off. You can't win them all, and losing £300m on Fulham is not that big of a deal when the family's total sports investments have gone up in value by over £3bn according to public estimates. But I don't think that is going to happen.

The thing is, Shad Khan faces almost no financial pressure to sell. He's self-funded his investments in Fulham. And, he has got much, much richer since he bought the club. According to Forbes, Shad's total net worth in 2016, just three years after he bought Fulham, was $5.9bn. Today, Forbes estimates that his total net worth is $15.3bn. Most of his net worth comes from his auto parts company, Flex-N-Gate, which he owns outright and, according to Forbes, generated $9.3bn in revenue in 2025.

The company is private so doesn't disclose its profits, but S&P reports that automotive components suppliers as a category make a profit of close to 10%. So, one could assume that the company generates hundreds of millions of dollars in profits every year for the Khans and any other owners. Shad Khan, and his family, are literally swimming in cash.

Yes, Shad is 75 years old. But the good news is that his sporting heir apparent is our own much-maligned Director of Football, Tony, who presumably is even more invested than his father in Fulham's success. It is possible that other financial pressures, like inheritance taxes, could force a sale, but given the Khan family's very strong financial position, Tony will likely be able to keep Fulham if he wants to.

We are truly lucky in this regard, and in the age of private equity (and largely ROI driven) Premier League ownership, to have owners like the Khans who have the ability to spend, absorb losses, and don't face financial pressure from partners for immediate returns.

However, the Khans clearly seek to make money on their sporting investments. They are not fans first (like Tony Bloom and Matthew Benham). They want to "win" their bet on Fulham. They (and we) just have the luxury of time in doing so, which is not the case for many Premier League clubs.

So, how can the Khans "win" and make Fulham worth more than they paid for it? The path is actually pretty narrow. The Khan's and Fulham's revenue is limited by our size. For example, while the club has been ambitious with ticket price increases – too much so in my view, given the impact on fans – the revenue they can generate on matchday revenues is inherently limited by the small size of Craven Cottage.

According to the football finance site, the Swiss Ramble, an already aggressive Fulham generated £18m in matchday revenue in 2023/24, putting the club close to Everton at £19m and ahead of clubs like Brentford (£11m) and Forest (£14m), but behind other clubs including Brighton (£28m), Aston Villa, (£28m), West Ham (£45m) and Spurs (£106m).

Even if the Khans and Ali Mac increased the average ticket price by another £30 each home game, it would only raise another £16m a year or so if the new prices don't impact attendance, which seems unlikely. The club's average attendance, in 2023/24, with already high ticket prices, was just 24,311 (for a club with a seating capacity of close to 30,000, though the Riverside was still partially closed for some of the campaign).

The Khans have to increase the brand value and size of the club if they want to make their investment pay off. Other than suddenly becoming geniuses at transfers, the club's big areas of opportunity for financial growth are really in broadcast and commercial revenue, which accounted for 91% of the club's revenue in 2023/24.

That year, £135m of the club's £182m (or 74%) revenue came from broadcast revenue, putting it behind Aston Villa, West Ham, Brighton who earned £184m, £167m and £164m respectively from broadcast revenues. These clubs also earned £60m, £58m and £31m in commercial revenue (largely from sponsors) compared to Fulham's £29m.

Fulham is much, much further behind the big six clubs in terms of broadcast and other revenue. They each made more than £360m each from both categories (double Fulham's total revenue).

If the Khan's want their investment to pay off, they are going to need to make the team better and get to Europe (and then try to stay there). Yes, it is true that the direct financial benefits in terms of the additional payments for making it to the Europa and Europa Conference League can be limited, but clubs that make it to Europe also increase broadcast revenue and (because of the value of this) can sell more commercial sponsorships.

West Ham getting to Europe, for example, helped increase its broadcast and commercial revenue by nearly £30m in one year. And brands actually penalize big clubs when they don't make it to Europe. Adidas's contract with Manchester United has a clause that deducts £10m in payment for every year the club doesn't qualify for the Champions League. Clubs that can get in - and stay in - Europe have a higher value because of these additional revenues.

According to The Athletic, West Ham (which does not own its own stadium) and Aston Villa (which is not in London) are currently valued at £100m more than Fulham. And Brighton, which has a stadium comparable in size to Fulham (and is not located in London) is worth £50m more. Fulham, as a historic club located in a prime area of London (with its own stadium), could increase substantially in value if we can get to (and stay) in Europe.

Additionally, what if the Club goes in the other direction and gets relegated? It will be financial disaster for the Khans as they will lose the broadcast and commercial revenue they need to increase the value of Fulham.

So, that's the good news. The club has to get and stay better if the Khans want to increase the value of their Fulham bet. The not-so-good news is that we have no idea if the club will be able to retain Marco Silva let alone if the club's management team has the skills needed to beat all the other mid-tier clubs trying to do the same thing.

But, fellow Fulham fans, take heart in the fact that we have owners with the financial ability to play a long game and, if they can somehow navigate the new rules, should be very motivated to take us to the next level.

West Ham to fancy chances for crucial win vs Fulham amid Harry Wilson update
West Ham simply need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Fulham on Wednesday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men will head to Craven Cottage, a place where Fulham have enjoyed much success this season.

The Irons understand the importance of three points in this clash, which shapes up to be one of the more winnable games of the season.

West Ham still face fears of relegation, but they could pick up an important victory over the Cottagers, especially if their key man, Harry Wilson, is absent.

Marco Silva confirms Harry Wilson doubt, West Ham to pounce
One of the main criticisms of West Ham under Nuno has been the defence, with holes seen yet again in the 5-2 loss to Liverpool last time out in the league.

But the opposition and quality of personnel clearly matter, and a Fulham side without Wilson in it isn't a strong one.

Wilson has 15 goal contributions for Fulham
The Welshman grabbed a goal and an assist in his last match
Since the start of December, only Erling Haaland has more goal involvements than Wilson

After Fulham's win over Spurs, head coach Marco Silva confirmed the Cottagers' worry with Wilson, who could now be absent against West Ham.

Silva said, as quoted by Jack Kelly on X: "He twisted the ankle, let's see how he's going to be in the next few days."

The Fulham boss also confirmed that the winger complained about the issue at halftime before his withdrawal in the 72nd minute, which could all come together as a huge boost for the Hammers.

West Ham have scored nine goals in their last five away matches in all competitions, proving that attack isn't a problem.

Wilson's potential absence could be the difference for the Irons in this one.

West Ham are close to a scoring rampage; stats prove why
The Hammers have picked up some nice victories in the past couple of weeks, with away wins over Burnley and Tottenham, and other impressive displays.

But, though some results have been disappointing on paper, the underlying data suggests that West Ham are close to hammering a side, and it could be Fulham.

Games     5
Goals     8
xG     8.06
West Ham's last five Premier League matches

The Irons have been consistently creating goal-scoring chances as well as converting in front of the goal, and all it may take is one game for everything to come together.

Taty Castellanos is now firing, as Nuno has other players who can also add goals from different areas. If Wilson misses this clash, the Hammers could flatten Fulham.

Fulham star snubs specific move – Transfer to Everton or West Ham seems preferred
Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez is currently turning down a return to Mexico, because he wants to remain in the Premier League. There, Everton and West Ham could be options.

That's according to El Futbolero, relaying information from journalist Kerry Ruiz. According to his information, Jiménez has no intention of returning to Liga MX this summer.

The 34-year-old looks set to be a free agent this summer when his contract with Fulham expires. Several reports have indicated that they have decided to part ways. That certainly seems the case as Fulham close in on a replacement in Ricardo Pepi.

Reports have indicated that Jiménez may fancy a return to his homeland, Mexico. He's talked about that for years, indicating he would like to join Club America at the end of his career.

Leaving Fulham, staying in PL
It seems, though, he's no ready for the move just yet. According to Ruiz, Jiménez believes that his immediate future lies outside of Liga MX.

He reports that the Fulham striker is looking to remain in the Premier League 'with another mid-table team'. He'll leave Craven Cottage, but there's no plan to leave England as yet.

The striker believes that he still has the 'necessary level' to compete in the Premier League. His desire is to remain there after the World Cup, even if he departs Fulham. His entourage are already looking for alternatives.

Everton and West Ham
El Futbolero then cite TUDN. The Mexican outlet recently reports that Everton and West Ham have shown interest in Jiménez before. The feeling is that they shouldn't be ruled out as potential destinations.

West Ham would obviously need to avoid relegation to be realistic, with Everton having a better season.

The key part is that the veteran doesn't want to return to Mexico yet. While several reports have indicated a willingness to explore the idea this summer, after the World Cup, now his stance appears to have changed.

What remains to be seen is if there's any interest in him should he leave Fulham. There's no denying he could still be an asset for someone, as he's proved for Marco Silva's side again this season.

'Crisis meeting' ahead of Fulham fixture may be in vain | West Ham News
Nuno Espirito Santo has a dilemma. West Ham have just shipped five goals, the first three being the subject of huge public and supporter scrutiny as they all came from corners – set pieces- in the first half at Anfield. Any repeat of this against Fulham will see the window of opportunity for the Hammers to lift themselves out of the relegation zone surely shut tight.

As a former goal keeper, Nuno has the experience where it counts – at the back, between the sticks – to make the call over changing his first choice keeper. Surely Mads Hermansen will sit the Craven Cottage visit out on the Irons' bench?

No goal keeper can concede five times with impunity.
And remember it isn't the first time the likeable Dane has suffered a cave-in. Hermansen was dropped after conceding eleven times in his first four outings.

Despite the trio of Hermansen, Disasi and Mavropanos' post mortem after the Liverpool debacle, Nuno needs to act. According to the nytimes.com:

"Mavropanos, Disasi and Hermansen had a lengthy discussion after the loss to Liverpool. They have been key performers in West Ham's recent upturn in performances and will hope last Saturday was just a bump in the road."

"Bump in the road?" I'd suggest more a massive pothole.
The defenders deserve another shot: With Todibo waiting in the wings,  they know another slip-up will likely lead to one or other of them heading to the bench. Hermansen, however, cannot be expecting to walk out at the start of play at Craven Cottage after such a mediocre performance.

Where Areola can do a better job of dominating his 'box remains to be seen: The Frenchman's greater stature at least means he won't be bullied by opponents during set-pieces – in the way in which we've become painfully accustomed to watching when the Dane takes the gloves.

Ladies narrowly defeated by Fulham
Town run league leaders close

Despite a resilient performance the Hatters' eight-game unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of the new league leaders Fulham Women on Sunday.

As expected, Fulham started on the front foot. A curling shot from distance was the game's first effort, although it failed to test Nicole Melling who claimed the ball comfortably.

After a dominant spell on the ball from the visitors, the Town snatched the ball and set off on a counter, until it was abruptly ended by Izzy Milne, who clipped Emily Wilson from behind on the halfway line, resulting in a free-kick and a moment of rest for the Ladies. The subsequent free-kick was delivered by Lisa Milliken, but to no avail, with Fulham able to clear.

The Town grew into the game as the half went on. A smart flick from Elizabeth Mulvaney attempted to set Wilson through on goal, but goalkeeper Frankie Gibbs was quick off her line to scoop the ball up.

Natalia Makowska found herself in space out on the right-hand side and floated the ball towards the lurking Tasha Fensome at the back-post, but again, Fulham were able to deal with the threat.

The Ladies' best chance of the half came on the half-hour mark. Makowska was wiped out as the Town surged forward, but the referee played the advantage which allowed Andie Dickens to gather the ball and play it down the line to Fensome. She looked up and saw Shanice Lewis and Wilson charging into the area, but the ball managed to evade both players, allowing Fulham to reclaim possession.

With 25 minutes to play, the Town's resilience was broken. Substitute Leila Lister made the most of an unfortunate deflection off Chloe Tambula and fired the ball past Melling to send her side top of the league.

A nasty collision in the Fulham penalty area between Mulvaney and two Fulham players left all three on the ground and needing treatment. Mulvaney was not able to continue and she was stretchered off the pitch, with Amber Leighton replacing her.

There was no other sight on goal from either team, who cancelled each other out well. Fulham go top of the league while the Town remain in sixth place and clear of the bottom two.

Town: Melling, Blacksley, Swarres, Tambula, Fensome, Mulvaney (Leighton 78), Wilson, Milliken, Dickens (Maddix 90), Lewis (Bowman 83), Makowska (McLean 83)

Unused subs: Hudson, Chellenbron.

Leno: Make the season even more special

Bernd Leno says attentions quickly turned from one London derby to the next, with the Whites back in action as early as Wednesday evening.

A 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur made it three wins in a row in all competitions, but celebrations will have been kept to a minimum with the short turnaround time going into our meeting with West Ham United.

"Everyone was enjoying last night, but you wake up today and you know in two days it's another big game," Leno explained. "I think we're in a very, very good moment, we're in a very good position, so we can make the season even more special.

"It's just about recovering mentally and physically, and then everyone will be on fire on Wednesday again."

West Ham endured a really difficult first half of the season, but look a different beast now under Nuno Espirito Santo, and have lost just two of their previous seven in the Premier League.

"You can see the last couple of games, they were much better than before the Christmas period, and I think it makes them even more dangerous that they are in that relegation battle," Leno said.

"Of course, they're under big, big pressure. We can take advantage of that, but – as I said – it could be even more dangerous, because everyone is giving 100 per cent, but we know that if we play our game, especially at home, we should get all three points."

Harry Wilson injury update ahead of Fulham vs West Ham
Marco Silva kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the availability of Fulham winger Harry Wilson for Wednesday's Premier League clash with West Ham.

Wilson has been one of Fulham's standout performers this season, notching up nine goals and six assists in 27 league matches.

The Welshman added to that tally at the weekend, scoring the opener and assisting Alex Iwobi's goal in their 2-1 win at home to Tottenham.

However, there was concern for the 28-year-old when he limped off in the 72nd minute of the game at Craven Cottage after suffering an ankle problem.

Speaking after the game, Silva confirmed that Wilson twisted his ankle in the first half and attempted to continue before eventually being forced off with 20 minutes to go.

A quick turnaround sees Fulham back in action against relegation-threatened West Ham at home on Wednesday.

Joachim Anderson missed Sunday's win due to illness but is set to return, while Kevin is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing a minor surgery.

Asked for an update on his squad's fitness ahead of Wednesday's match, Silva told reporters: 'Everything went well for Kevin, but difficult to say the time frame [for a return].

'The last decisions on some players will be made tomorrow.

'Joachim Andersen will be back in 100% sure. Harry Wilson is one of the players we have to keep assessing. Let's see.'

Having won just two of their first eight matches to start 2026, Fulham have now won back-to-back fixtures against Sunderland and Spurs.

Silva's side sit ninth in the table and are eight points off Liverpool in fifth.

Asked about his side's objectives for the rest of the season, the Portuguese manager said: 'Our first target is to break the points tally again.

'If we do that, we know we are going to be in a good position in the table. We are in a position where we want to climb the table.'

West Ham's Fulham test gets harder as Taty Castellanos faces Issa Diop in 'brilliant' form
Nuno Espirito Santo's West Ham United will come up against a very familiar face when they kick off away to Marco Silva's Fulham on Wednesday night at Craven Cottage.

While Axel Disasi and Konstantinos Mavropanos held clear-the-air talks with goalkeeper Mads Hermansen following the Hammers' 5-2 defeat at Liverpool – comfortably their worst defensive performance since January 3rd in Wolverhampton – Issa Diop was basking in the glow of a London derby victory.

The watching West Ham United supporters would have cheered as loudly as anyone in the home end at Craven Cottage when Diop extended one of his telescopic limbs to block an early Randal Kolo Muani shot on Sunday.

Diop was exceptional as Fulham, winning 2-1 in a scoreline which flattered their visitors, pushed Tottenham closer to the abyss.

With Igor Tudor hosting a resurgent Crystal Palace on Thursday, West Ham can move to within one point of Spurs if they beat the Cottagers tomorrow.

That, though, will be easier said than done. And not just because Diop, in for the ill Joachim Andersen, appears destined to give Taty Castellanos a bit of a rough ride.

Issa Diop was outstanding when Fulham beat Tottenham – and now he faces West Ham Unied
Not so long ago, it appeared that West Ham had struck gold selling Issa Diop to Fulham for a fee of £15 million. Across the last two full seasons, the former Toulouse captain has started fewer than half of the Cottagers' Premier League matches.

And on the occasions where he did get a run in the side, high-profile blunders were never too far away.

The difference between 'good Diop' and 'bad Diop' has always been pretty cavernous. It just so happens, though, that West Ham appear likely to run into the former this midweek.

"I don't like to go for individual things, but it's important to mention Issa Diop," Marco Silva said after Fulham restricted Spurs to a series of half-chances and a Richarlison consolation. "He knows he was not supposed to start the game. He was at home last night. He was not even at the hotel with us.

"He's a good professional.

"It was our decision to start with him [due to Andersen's illness], and what a performance from him. Leadership, the focus and the commitment he had in every moment to lead our backline, was crucial from himself. And I have to really to congratulate him for the performance.

"I'm very pleased, because he deserves all the credit. Sometimes not always involved in all the moments, [but] every time we need him and to use him, he responds very well.

"And always, I know that, if he plays or not, he's going to be the first one to arrive at the training ground. He's going to be the first one to push the others to go, always a top professional, very important for ourselves."

Taty Castellanos faces Diop four years after David Moyes sold him
David Moyes wanted to keep Diop at West Ham before his departure in the summer of 2022. However, with Nayef Aguerd arriving from Rennes, Moyes accepted that the big Frenchman could not be guaranteed regular starts in claret and blue.

Considering that Diop has started only 57 of a possible 142 Premier League matches in a Fulham shirt, you can argue that his decision to leave in search of more consistent game time has backfired somewhat.

Diop celebrated his 29th birthday in January. And, at this point, Fulham fans are more than accustomed to the odd faultless performance in a sea of inconsistency.

Wouldn't it just be West Ham's luck, though, if Diop follows up a supreme display against Spurs with another against his old employers? With Man City and Aston Villa to come, Fulham away is both a daunting test but also one of the more winnable matches in Nuno's schedule.

Just days after shutting down Kolo Muani at the Cottage, a repeat performance will see Diop give Tottenham an almighty leg-up. West Ham, in a worst-case scenario, could go into the weekend seven points adrift of their bitter rivals.

In a best-case scenario, only one point will separate the two neighbours.

"How this man does not play more football for us I don't understand," fan site Fulhamish wrote after what was arguably Diop's finest display in that white kit.

"The Frenchman was absolutely brilliant in the first half, making some wonderful tackles, particularly the one on Randall Kolo Muani that he timed to perfection. He was only deputising because Joachim Andersen was ill, but you do wonder what else he needs to do to deserve a starting run."

Speaking of a certain Argentine forward who is likely to go head-to-head with Diop tomorrow, Taty Castellanos has come in for criticism on the back of his performance at Anfield, even if he did nod in a second-half consolation.

As popular as he is for his infectious work ethic, the West Ham fans want to see more from their £27 million January signing. A winner at the Cottage would fit the bill nicely.

Programme

Arriving at a new club in the winter transfer window is rarely straightforward. The season is already in full flow, dressing-room relationships are long established, and tactical rhythms have been rehearsed for months.

For many players, stepping into that environment midway through the campaign can feel like attempting to board a moving train. Yet for Oscar Bobb, Fulham's recent addition from Manchester City, the decision to embrace change was shaped less by risk than by certainty.

"My situation wasn't ideal at City with first-team opportunities proving hard to come by," the winger told the official matchday programme for the visit of West Ham United.

"I had interest from a few clubs, but once I chatted to the manager at Fulham and heard how he saw me fitting into the team, what he expected from me, there was no real question.

"The manager has just told me to be myself - to be aggressive, creative, show what I can do. That's exactly what you want to hear as an attacking player."

Elsewhere in the publication, Marco Silva, Tom Cairney and Robert Wilson pen their regular columns, while Raúl Jiménez lifts the lid on his teammates and Luís Boa Morte is the next interview in our Cult Heroes series.

The programme will be on sale around the ground on Wednesday, priced £4, or available to purchase online.

Fulham: Marco Silva issues Harry Wilson and Joachim Andersen latest amid double injury concern
In-form forward hobbled off in Tottenham victory

Fulham boss Marco Silva has issued an update on Harry Wilson and Joachim Andersen ahead of his side's clash with West Ham on Wednesday.

Wilson, the Cottagers' in-form winger, was forced off with an ankle injury in the 2-1 win over Tottenham at the weekend.

The Welshman struck the opener at Craven Cottage as Spurs sank to a second straight defeat under interim head coach Igor Tudor.

The victory took Fulham up to 9th in the Premier League table, with the west Londoners' European challenge still alive as they sit five points off sixth-placed Chelsea.

Andersen, meanwhile, missed out on the Tottenham game completely through illness, but Silva offered a positive update on the central defender.

"Joachim Andersen will be back in, 100 per cent sure," the Portuguese said.

"Harry Wilson is one of the players we have to keep assessing. Let's see."

Wilson has been Fulham's most prolific goalscorer this term, netting nine times in 27 appearances, adding six assists.

The forward's contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and rumours are swirling about where he might end up.

Silva has been outspoken on his preference to keep his top performer, who has amassed reported interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Everton, who failed with a late swoop for him at the end of the January transfer window.

The Cottagers face West Ham on Wednesday before a home FA Cup tie against Southampton at the weekend.

A trip to Nottingham Forest follows, before a home clash against Burnley rounds off the month.

Marco Silva confirms big Fulham injury boost for West Ham clash
Marco SIlva has issued a Fulham injury update ahead of his side's clash with West Ham.

Fulham boss Marco Silva has issued an injury update on one of his most important players ahead of Wednesday night clash with West Ham. The Cottagers have been in good form of late, very much in the mix for a European spot.

Silva's men are just three points away from seventh spot after two big wins, defeating Sunderland away from home and Tottenham at the Cottage.

Wednesday night brings a different kind of test, with a West Ham side in surprisingly good form - for their position - arrival in search of a win that could see them jump out of the relegation zone, with Nottingham Forest facing Manchester City.

But Fulham need to keep their eyes on their own prize, and they are in with a real shot of securing European football, especially when you consider eighth place could yet be a Conference League spot.

Silva will need his key players fit to pull that off, though, and there is concern over star man Harry Wilson, who now has nine goals and six assists to his name this season.

Providing a fitness update ahead of the West Ham clash, Silva said "Everything went well for Kevin, but difficult to say the time frame [for a return]."

He added: "The last decisions on some players will be made tomorrow. Joachim Andersen will be back in 100% sure. Harry Wilson is one of the players we have to keep assessing. Let's see."

Silva also spoke about Fulham's aims for the rest of the season as excitement begins to build ahead of the European race run-in. "Our first target is to break the points tally again," he said, tempering expectations for now.

"If we do that, we know we are going to be in a good position in the table. We are in a position where we want to climb the table."

Pre-West Ham Press Conference
Marco Silva knows West Ham United will pose a greater threat on Wednesday than they did last time we met.

A late Raúl Jiménez strike earned us a Christmas victory at London Stadium, but the Hammers have been much improved since the turn of the year, defeating Spurs, Sunderland and Burnley, as well as taking points off in-form Manchester United and Bournemouth.

"I agree with you, they are in a completely different moment," Silva said in his pre-match press conference. "Of course, they are not a completely different team, but I can see many differences there.

"They signed some players, and they readjusted the squad a little bit last January, but you see the organisation is there. They have been very difficult to beat, even games that they lost, they played a big part, even last game against Liverpool, you can feel it.

"If you analyse the game, you can see they conceded from three set-pieces in the first half. They were always there, chasing the game, and any moment you can feel that they are creating chances against any side.

"They are in a very good level, in my opinion, right now. They are going to be a very difficult team to beat, 100 per cent sure, because the organisation is there, their quality is there, they are confident.

"Even if their position in the table is not easy for any team in the world to be, you can feel that the way they play, the combinations are there.

"They have very good individual players, that is not new for them. West Ham is always a club with a lot of individual players that, in any moment, they can decide a game.

"So it will be another great test for us, with a short preparation to prepare the game. But, as you know, we are in a good moment, we want to keep the momentum and use this momentum for our side, and let's hope we can continue this way."

From the Press Box: Wilson to be assessed ahead of Hammers clash
Jack Kelly provides the news from the camp ahead of Fulham v West Ham.

After Sunday's win, I walked into Motspur Park with a spring in my step. Fulham's next task is to face West Ham at Craven Cottage, who are in 18th place in the Premier League. After a late Raul Jimenez header in December, Fulham are now searching to do a third double on the spin, after winning both games against Sunderland and Spurs.

Today's press conference was one that was highly anticipated by the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) community. They all wanted to know whether Harry Wilson and Joachim Andersen would be involved, with their deadline for submitting their teams being later on this evening.

I was bombarded with tweets and messages asking for specific team news. Will player x start? Will player y be fit? I felt like I had thousands of people's hopes in the palm of my hands.

Funnily enough, the question on team news didn't come straight away, so those FPL fanatics had to wait a little longer.

When the million-dollar question was put to Marco Silva, he didn't give too much away. The question was mainly about Kevin, who had undergone surgery on Monday.

"Yes, everything went well. Difficult to say what is going to be the timescale of the rehabilitation but everything went well and now is the moment for him to start the rehab", said Silva.

"Let's hope everything goes in the direction that we expect."

Well, the FPL community were up in arms! "Not a proper update!", they bemoaned. They questioned my skills as a journalist.

He was then later asked about team news again, Wilson and Andersen specifically.

"Joachim (Andersen) is 100%. He's OK. Harry is one of the players that I said we have to keep assessing and see. Tomorrow we are going to take some important decisions related with the game and with the squad list", said the Fulham boss.

"Joachim was not injured, it was an illness and he's ready to go again."

Silva also confirmed that Sasa Lukic is working hard to get back to full fitness, and that he could be in contention, with the Serbian growing in confidence of the training field.

West Ham will provide a tough test for Fulham tomorrow night. A side who seem to be showing more fight and desire than Sunday's opponents.

If Fulham can make it three wins in a row, they will rise to 43 points. An impressive tally with another 27 to play for. The race for Europe is still well and truly on, with a chance to progress to the last eight in the FA Cup on Sunday too.

As has been reported by a few journalists now, Aston Villa are firmly in the race to land Wilson on a free transfer this summer. Fulham are still doing all they can to keep the Welshman, and qualification into Europe may boost the Whites' chances of retaining him.

Tomorrow is another London derby. I'm looking forward seeing players like Oscar Bobb and Samuel Chukwueze if they're involved. Bobb was very impressive in his first Fulham start; another top signing. We play our second of three home matches this week, looking to secure maximum points again at the Cottage.

Enjoy the game!

Southampton FC sell out away allocation for FA Cup tie at Fulham
NEARLY 5,000 Saints fans will be in attendance at Craven Cottage when Saints face Premier League side Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.

Championship Saints have sold out their increased away allocation of 4,811 for the 12pm kick-off, meaning they are set for the largest away following of the season.

It will be a bigger following than they recieved at Fulham in the Premier League last season, with the away end usually capped at 2,701 fans due to Craven Cottage's capacity.

In the English top flight, clubs like Fulham, who have a stadium that seats fewer than 30,000 fans, do not need to meet the usual minimum of 3,000 away tickets.

Southampton drew 0-0 on the road against the Cottagers last season, with new boss Ivan Juric watching from the stands in London.

Tonda Eckert's charges will feel more confident of claiming a victory at Fulham this season, and head to the capital amid a nine-game unbeaten run.

Saints have beaten Championship Leicester City and League One Doncaster Rovers to reach the fifth round of this year's FA Cup.

The club have so far worn a special 50th anniversary kit to commemorate their FA Cup victory in 1976 during the 2025/26 edition of the competition.
