Marco's Furture: I have it on good authority

Marco is leaving us, I have it on good authority.

The authority being my eyes and my ears.
He has been totally de-motivated in recent weeks and particularly today against Southampton. He barely left his seat which is unheard of for him. His body language is of somebody that has been massively let down and just wants to for the nonsense to end.

When he speaks he lacks the passion he had.

It is my opinion (that is the authority I am using), my opinion, that the club will not support himand his ambitions into next season and as a result we have no chance to kick on. I suspect he has agreed or been told to see out the season. I hope the owner has a replacement lined up.

For my part we have a very thin squad, I do not think it has enough quality or depth if we are to improve and we have simply marked time in three seasons. I know there are other people that may think differently but Marco is the genius that had got us where we are... the thought of who might follow as manager frightens the life out of me.

The squad is better than the last 2x performances & imo we the supporters have been badly let down over the past 2x games.

Saying that, it's been coming. We have for a long time been playing walking football, passing sideways & backwards.

Too many technically gifted players lacking end product, direction &/or drive.

I agree that his body language has changed markedly in the last few weeks. I think he is off unless the team go on a big run now.

I am caught in two minds as I think we may have reached our ceiling with Marco. We are a team that can beat anyone on the league on our day, but do not have the mental fortitude or guile to see out more winnable fixtures and in that sense he has to take some responsibility. I'll be clear, this is not a bad ceiling and we are still to 3rd parties probably over performing to even be in the conversation for Europe.

I would disagree that he not been backed though, this is a squad brimming with talent at some cost.
Joa 30m, Castagne 15m, Bassey 20m, Berge 20m, Kevin 40m, Bobb 30m, ESR 30m, Chuck Maybe 20 and Raul/Leno on a big old contracts.

Add on players that  we could probably get 20m plus for in Antonee, Wilson, Sess (maybe not), Muniz, King.

Please don't take this as me dismissing your opinion as I think it's more than valid, I just think he has shown our squad is more than capable of being really something which is why it hurts even more when we roll over and again I think he is somewhat culpable for that.

Likewise any new appointment is a huge risk and I'd rather he stayed and kept trying to figure this out but he needs to stop looking for wingers and find some steel for us in the middle.

Tonight and West Ham were real daggers in my enthusiasm for this season.

I'll find new hope before the next fixture I'm sure

It would seem likely that he's off
Relegation next year if we don't sort this team out
Just not enough from a lot of players too many times

"Bad day at the office " - yes for a few matches but the team is so lacklustre more often than not with some very ponderous attacking tactics

ESR Muniz really not up to it today
Andersen too slow
Chuk - has he been told never to take anyone on?
Reed and Cairney together in midfield? I love them both but together? Just too ponderous

Corners? 16 and never ever looked like scoring

51 touches in the opposition box without a goal ? Unheard of

The squad aren't the problem right now, it's starting to look like we did under Parker where the collective team weren't able to show their actual ability, and then Silva gave them the platform to deliver that. They're not motivated to deliver because the manager can't motivate them mentally or tactically

For those that do not see what i think i can see. The centre of our midfield is not up to it. Only cairney can pick a pass properly, simple throgh the lines stuff. Our centre backs lack quality in possesion and take too long.
We lack pace... even southampton ran quicker than us, saw we play a high line and simply outsprinted us.

The squad isn't  good enough to kick on... people can list the players and price but we do not hae a midfield that or centre backs that are able to help us kick on.

Marco has done wonders, a new manager will likely struggle.

The owners do jot properly support the manager wrong players at the wrong time.

That's my opinion, and if you don't  agree  wait till next season.

Twig

Marco has misused his squad over the last two games and should be taking some personal responsibility, instead he points the finger of blame in every direction except himself!

Good authority?
You!

Ridiculous heading!

From Sky:

The incident leading to Rodrigo Muniz's disallowed goal was comical but somehow it was made even worse by Jarred Gillett's early whistle, which meant VAR could not intervene.

A premature stoppage in play, which wasn't the only one in the game, and then a soft penalty decision in the dying embers led to a shock defeat for his side.

Sadly for Fulham, it's just the latest officiating mishap in a season that has been littered with them. I was at Stamford Bridge for Josh King's disallowed goal in August and I covered the 1-0 loss to West Ham on Wednesday. Man Utd's equaliser at Craven Cottage was another one.

Match officiating was a hot topic in those games but it is a common theme for most teams in football now, not just Fulham.

It is draining, repititive and uninspiring.

I don't get the idea that the owners haven't backed Silva. He seems to have had a major part in buying a lot of recent expensive players. And any good manager makes the best out of the squad he's got.
Its almost as if he's  deliberately picking players out of position / form at the wrong time to make a point, at the expense of winning. He looks like his mind is elsewhere.

KingOfTheNorth

Going to Leeds if they stay up.

Taking Wilson with him.

Good Marco has run out of ideas and is clearly not interested anymore in FFC and if Harry wants to go then so be it, also its time to ditch sentiment and get TC out if the playing squad

TC is not a starter, he is someone who comes on after 60 minutes or so, same goes for Harrison Reed. Saying that I am have never been happy with the midfield pairing of Lukic and Berge primarily because they can't score goals.

I have been thinking for a while (before the last 2 defeats) that Silva has run out of ideas with this club and its time for a fresh start.

We may not have brought in his first choices in recent seasons and we will never know but I don't accept that he hasn't been supported in the transfer window, for a club with our size of support and income we have spent enough.

London may be a draw to players but we will have had to pay big salaries to attract good players to a club who rarely looks like achieving any kind of success.

Only on occasions, this season and last have we played with aggression and pace for long periods and this usually only happens when we are chasing a result or the opponents are pushing forward allowing us a fast break.

We play safety first football but ironically we often shoot ourselves in the foot by sitting back or making silly mistakes.

MS has taken us as far as he can IMO and we are stagnating, I can't see us spending £100 million+ on 3 quality players (CF CH & CM) in one window to help him take us to the next level.

So we need a new motivator and tactical approach, thanks MS time for change.

OK, let's take this a step further and before I am accused of lacking ambition, of course I am disappointed but I handle it differently. Let us assume that Marco leaves, for whatever reason, we the need a replacement. Who is there available, do we look locally or abroad? And we could end up with someone like the Tudor bloke at Tottenham, maybe even him if the rumours are right. Equally, we could end up with a genius but with our board that is unlikely. Or we could get Thomas Franks though he may well be scarred from his Spurs experience. One thing is certain, we, the fans would have no say in it and the final outcome will be down to chance. So, to those who want Marco gone, be careful of what you wish for.

Why is it unlikely to get a Genius, Marco was before he got board
