Nah, people are just saying, like most managers, he's made a few mistakes recently.

Happens to even the greatest of managers.

Quote from: bill taylors apprentice on March 09, 2026, 02:27:16 PMI have been thinking for a while (before the last 2 defeats) that Silva has run out of ideas with this club and its time for a fresh start.

We may not have brought in his first choices in recent seasons and we will never know but I don't accept that he hasn't been supported in the transfer window, for a club with our size of support and income we have spent enough.

London may be a draw to players but we will have had to pay big salaries to attract good players to a club who rarely looks like achieving any kind of success.

Only on occasions, this season and last have we played with aggression and pace for long periods and this usually only happens when we are chasing a result or the opponents are pushing forward allowing us a fast break.

We play safety first football but ironically we often shoot ourselves in the foot by sitting back or making silly mistakes.

MS has taken us as far as he can IMO and we are stagnating, I can't see us spending £100 million+ on 3 quality players (CF CH & CM) in one window to help him take us to the next level.

So we need a new motivator and tactical approach, thanks MS time for change.

It's the bit I've highlighted that bothers me the most. We can't cope with a low block and yet we persist in the slow build-up, compressing space in front of us. I would rather we conceded space and played out quickly from the back into areas where there is space to play. Maybe Silva thinks our forwards aren't good enough for that approach but the sight of the ball going from side to side across in front of Southampton's defenders gave me flashbacks to the worst of Parkerball. It is that approach that leads to our defenders being sucked forward as the game goes on, leaving us short at the back. How many late goals have we conceded this season when we are chasing the game?

I think he's checking out in May unless Europe is achieved.

Sad to say, but Marco's market value is declining loss by loss. Who is to say anyone would want him?

Good point, well made.

However, it does help clear up the mystery of why he is always warming up, but never gets to go on and play.

I disagree. Look at how the likes of our good friend Mr Parker keeps getting new gigs despite a less than stellar record.

An ambitious, but currently struggling former top flight team might well see him as the answer. Proven record of getting promoted to the Prem and then consolidating over the next few seasons. There are teams that would snap your arm off for that. We may well pass one of them on our way down, if we fail to replace him with an equally good manager.

As others have said, be very careful what you wish for.

Good job we dont play on Hackney Marshes

God knows which game he would end up joining

Have to agree. I just don't want to start over with another manager. Sure, he made a big mistake in terms of PR's sake because he sent the wrong message to supporters. However, he's a coach first - he has to manage the players that he still has to see every single day. That includes multiple levels of managing those players' ambitions, goals, downsides, upsides, etc - it's not a video game. Regardless, he needed to send the right message because the club's ambitions are bigger and he should've put the absolute best team in. I wanted him to do it so we could avoid a week like we're seeing already. Step 1 was getting a goal, step 2 was winning - and neither of those were done - so I'm not surprised it's full scale anti-Marco time. I don't support it though.

Quote from: Andrew on March 08, 2026, 03:37:24 PMMarco is leaving us, I have it on good authority.

The authority being my eyes and my ears.
He has been totally de-motivated in recent weeks and particularly today against Southampton. He barely left his seat which is unheard of for him. His body language is of somebody that has been massively let down and just wants to for the nonsense to end.

When he speaks he lacks the passion he had.

It is my opinion (that is the authority I am using), my opinion, that the club will not support himand his ambitions into next season and as a result we have no chance to kick on. I suspect he has agreed or been told to see out the season. I hope the owner has a replacement lined up.

For my part we have a very thin squad, I do not think it has enough quality or depth if we are to improve and we have simply marked time in three seasons. I know there are other people that may think differently but Marco is the genius that had got us where we are... the thought of who might follow as manager frightens the life out of me.

Good authority?
You!

Ridiculous heading!

From Sky:

The incident leading to Rodrigo Muniz's disallowed goal was comical but somehow it was made even worse by Jarred Gillett's early whistle, which meant VAR could not intervene.

A premature stoppage in play, which wasn't the only one in the game, and then a soft penalty decision in the dying embers led to a shock defeat for his side.

Sadly for Fulham, it's just the latest officiating mishap in a season that has been littered with them. I was at Stamford Bridge for Josh King's disallowed goal in August and I covered the 1-0 loss to West Ham on Wednesday. Man Utd's equaliser at Craven Cottage was another one.

Match officiating was a hot topic in those games but it is a common theme for most teams in football now, not just Fulham.

It is draining, repititive and uninspiring.
how many times can you blame officials totally wrong blame the coach and the players they all should be saying sorry as they owe us supporters.

Win against forest and Burnley and suddenly people will be back on the hopeful hunt for Europe again.
Such is the nature of messageboards.

Massively disappointing week. If the players capitulate people and heads go down as they have post cup before then we're for sure in trouble.

Meanwhile Brentford also 1-0 down to west ham interestingly

Not a chance of Europe, its on the beach football now

This is the one match I want Brentford to win. Them winning means they have more on their plate and probably do worse in their league games.

As a matter of interest what is full strength? Leno, who many people wanted dropped? Bassey, ditto? Berge, ditto. Raul, ditto. Lukic was just back from injury. Wilson and Kevin are injured. Iwobi who people think he should be rested but apparently is undroppable. King who apparently is too light weight.
The team we put out should have been able to beat a mediocre championship team.

Those are the questions that the outrage is hiding behind I think. 9 changes, okay - but it's not like we've put in academy players or inexperienced PL players to boot. This message board, and Fulham social media in general, have weekly battles of each position with the exception of maybe Wilson, Iwobi and Tete.
