Where Will The Goals Come From

With Wilson set to leave at the end of the season, his 10 goals is 25% of our GF. Remove these and we would be the lowest GF bar Wolves. Wilsons 10 is equal to our two strikers combined .

Our next best is Raul with 9 before 3rd place offering just 4 with Iwobi

It feels like we are walking into a right mare in terms of goal scoring options for next season with neither the strikers or remaining midfield offering enough goals.

Without major surgery we could go into next season as relegation candidates.

I do have to agree that Wilson and Raul leaving, having been involved in 28 goal involvements between them out of the 43 that we have scored, is a scary prospect.

If they are not replaced properly then we could be in trouble next season, I make you right

Add to that the risk of a new manager and it makes it even more concerning

Exactly...and if we don't get relegated next season, we might get relegated the season after.... I could be wrong - but haven't we been heavily negotiating a deal for Pepi....and remember he's lipsmacking

Roger Brown once scored 12 in a season and was constantly a threat at corners,
Fast forward to 2026 and our entire defensive line offers nothing, that must improve next season,
And don't even get me started on central midfield  ::angry::

I cant remember how many goals, but am sure when we came up from what is now league 1 in the late 90s we had a record scoring back 4. Or maybe it was early championship, was certainly Coleman, Symonds etc years

Whitestone

There is no magic in central midfield and our attacking midfielders, apart from Harry Wilson, aren't contributing enough. Raul is moving on. Wilson is probably moving on and Muniz isn't good enough to be first choice. Who knows where we are with the manager situation. We have a big summer coming up. Get it wrong and next season could be problematic.

Symons got 11 in the 1998/99 season

Some on here may think we will be fine, but i am concerned due to the points already raised on this thread. Big summer coming up for the club. Lots to sort with the manager situation, goal contributions and general squad quality.

I agree.

The big money spend needs to be central midfield. We have never replaced Pereira. Palhinha (despite being a defensive midfielder) reliably scored a few each season. Imperative that we have more players in midfield with some goalscoring ability.

Unless we see some evidence of form between now and the end of the season, I would be tempted to try move Muniz on. Ideal scenario for me would be to get Pepi signed asap, Raul for another year and then another youngish striker with some goalscoring pedigree as a backup - someone like Zian Flemming.

Vipotnik from Swansea? A Mitro regen?

MickTheBeard

I honestly feel for us to score goals regularly from all different positions from the team we will need a new manager everything has to go through a target man or 1 up front with no plan B under silva,I believe that's a big problem for silva.

Swansea want £15 mil. We should snap him up. Brighton interested though and given how slow we are can't see that one happening.

Of course Wilson and Raul could stay and we could get Pepi

They could, but Wilsons history isnt a 10+ goal a season player, thankfully this year he was

Deeping_white

I think the system is an issue more than the players at this point. It's starting to feel like the end of the Parker tenure where we played too defensively and with the handbrake on, and then Silva gave the same group more freedom and suddenly we remembered how to score. I don't know why Silva has turned us into such a conservative team but we've definitely got one dimensional which is odd given some of the attacking talent we possess, which he is also choosing to play out of position.

exactly this, let's not pretend that Wilson is a season-on-season goal threat. We'll attempt to do as we always do, share goals amongst all of the forward players as well as I assume adding in the transfer market

Agree RE system and also tactics. 32 games and the defence has given us 4 goals, 2 of which are from Sess and i am not sure if he was playing in defense or further up.

2 goals between Bassey, Diop, Cuenca, Tete, Castagne, Anderson and Robinson is really shocking

Not particually, I would be happier if we start addressing these issues
