Season over or do we have anything left to play for?

If you had asked this in March I would have given you the same answer as I will today, and that is, Yes

FFC007

We've been on the beach since 40 points was achieved..

That said, 40 points may not be enough this season which sends dangerous signals out that it could mean 43-45 is a minimum.

Its not quite over as if we beat Wolves away then beat Newcastle at home we still have a small chance of Europe

Yes and add in the Westham home game team selection after just beating Spurs very conclusively.

Beautifully addressed.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that despite the malaise we can still get our record premier league points total if we win both games, something to cling on to at least.

It is possible mathematically to make europe,  thing is when you start talking mathematically you know its over  :slap:
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

A bit like clinging on to a bit of debris from the Titanic - if you don't mind me saying

I don't think it's completely over - if we are on the beach and lose our next two, we could end the season as low as 16th/17th, which really wouldn't be a fair assessment of our season (the league table is so tight). With every position in the table accounting for a significant amount of cash, it'd be dumb as a club to be on the beach in that respect alone.

As far as being able to qualify for Europe then no it's not over, I believe if 6th place becomes champions league then does 9th place become conference league?. As far as our performances are concerned then yes I believe it is over and for me that's on Marco. Continuing to play players like Anderson who has cost us on several occasions while ignoring Diop who has hardly put a foot wrong. Not playing Chuk on his favoured right side so he can keep playing Wilson who has now reverted to his usual form. How do we know if Chuk is worth the money when he is continually played out of position? I still don't understand playing four at the back and having our fullbacks play high up the pitch meaning our centre halves get pulled wide to cover leaving us short in the middle at the back which teams have exploited.

Our season was over the minute we beat Spuds. The team said: "Job's done" and packed their suitcases, but not to play in Europe.

We can only match our record PL points total by winning both, not beat it.

I thought our record was 53 points?
