A father and small child were immediately ahead of me in the queue, the child was not patted down.

nor was I, the bloke asked where keys and phone were, waved the wand and in we went, people died in Manchester due to slack security so stop moaning because you were slightly inconvenienced
I thought Ray asked a straightforward question, one that I happened to have an answer to.  Not clear how either of us have moaned about inconvenience.  Nor indeed have we tried to commandeer the moral high ground, as it so happens.  That would be rather tiresome.

My grandson was not patted down and was free to walk in. As Ludlow said it took an extra 30 secs at most for the three of us

I have no knowledge of the checks but wonder if kids entering the away end are searched for pyros etc?

I'm all for it.. it's such a shame society has devalued into this need due to mad idiots hell bent on causing mayhem and destruction.

I'm happy to be searched and patted down if it meant safety first.

My understanding from a friend, and due to my work role, is that children cannot be patted down nor stopped for a search, unless it's done by law enforcement. I stand to be corrected however.

I have been to every away game this season and until last weekend we were possibly the most lax, definitely in the lower quartile, in our entry searches.  Possibly because of effectively having one 1-side of the stadium, from the Stevenage Road, to enter 4x stands.

Yes, I know we now have Riverside entrances for the new stand but congestion on Stevenage Road must have been a H&S consideration -v- security risk.

It seems that we are now coming into line with the rest of the stadiums and maybe this was a directive enforced on the Club and they have had to find a way to make it as easy as possible.

Ironically as I was walking through the Hammy concourse I spotted a fan in a Bournemouth shirt looking lost, I asked him if he knew where he was and he said I take it this is a home fans section, I checked his ticket and it was for the away end so asked how he got into the ground, he actually just walk in unchecked via the Hammyend exit gate in Stevange road which was open!! So much for security checks🙈

It was my experience that I did not recognise a single person conducting security, manning the turnstile, or showing people to their seats.

The queses for people coming at a reasonable time were ridiculously long, that is an observation.

I think having a stable team of people working at the ground and knowing who is who would be a big step to enhanced security. Changing the whole lot, is that for a single game or are these people going to be the new normal? It matters because changing the whole team makes for a less friendly match experience.

I would love to see a different queuing system and segregation. Season ticket holders should have their own lines whilst matchday tickets ( often tourists ) would have a separate one. Matchday tickets could coloured and differentiated ( like in the cup) and if they were say green the line would say green tickets. This would mean season ticket holders ( who tend to know where they are and what they are doing ) would not be held up by groups that understandably haven't a clue.
My experience on Saturday wasn't great as it was chaos due to a large group in front of me who were lost and confused by the procedures.

I moved to the Putney end this season but was in Riverside last. Never really noticed the que being anything worse than anywhere else in the ground. They have random weeks they do more aggressive searches that take longer but I got an email and text we'll in advanced.

You wait until the last minute at any stand and you'll miss kick-off. We're talking about showing up 10 minutes earlier not 30+ minutes. I've heard people complain about this and literally never had an issue in any stand in all my years going to CC.

Have I missed a kickoff? Yes, cause I showed up to the ground 5 minutes before kick off and that was when I sat in JH.

Don't get it, people wine about anything.

HV71

It isn't whining ! It's about trying to think what can be improved for the paying customer ( just like the Hammy loos)
Just for your info I turned up 35 minutes before kick off and experienced chaos.

It will improve if everyone knows what to expect but when you get huge numbers of first timers then it will not
That is the reality of our customer profile - if that is what the owners want then it is their business and they can do what they please - but they should make provisions that cater for this.

I turned up a bit earlier than usual and found getting into the Hammy End was a breeze. No problem whatsoever. The only difference I noticed was a separate queue and a small table for those with bags.

I wasflying back from Lisbon last Sunday and had a deodorant thrown away because it was 150m instead of the permitted 100. Now I'm not arguing that they were wrong to bin it, but what are you going to do with a 150m spray deodorant that you cant do with one that's 100m?

There are times when common sense should prevail
put in your suitcase, there has to be limits and you were 50% over that limit,

The offending article was in cabin baggage and was probably 50% full so although the can said 150 there was probably 75ml in it. I walked thru agp with no problem at all. Like i said, common sense should be applied.

I didn't notice any women being patted down  -  or women doing the patting down.

What exactly are they looking for in the search and what do they do if they do find something that would or could create a serious safety problem?

When the Brentford stewards were checking FFC wallets last season, the same question was asked. The answer, I don't know but I'll know if I find it!

Pyros yes, but these days I expect it's recreational drugs.

They are looking for anything that could be an attacking threat. It is clearly working as none have  been witnessed in the last few matches

Quote from: HV71 on May 11, 2026, 10:13:49 AMI'm not against security checks but the latest measures do make me scratch my head a tad.
To get into the Riverside I was asked to show my pass twice  before getting into the queue . My wife had her small bag checked and was electronically searched - whilst I was padded down . We then obviously had to get our passes out again to go throughout the turnstile.

Where will this end ?

Perhaps we should have to show our passports which might help as the crowds of " tourists " would have to join a separate line.

Our American friends would have to fill in a visa waiver form and agree to inspection of their social media account.

When I got to my seat I was surprised not to find a seat belt ( to stop me standing ina seating only area) - and fully expected the stewards to point out the one exit and how we would all get out in case of an emergency. This is especially important as so many "supporters" don't have a clue where they are and block the exit whilst taking the obligatory selfie.

On a final note - please own up if you are the gentleman who was wearing a Fulham shirt with " Mr Bishop " on the back

Fantastic ! You made me smile so much - thank you.

I believe that the new Security Checks commenced after the day you brought that Bazooka into the ground.

So what would they or could they do if they found any, blow a whistle?
