Interested to know when people think things fell a part. Mentally, physically, injuries?

We were playing some great stuff earlier this season and this is a shadow of the team that was getting me excited.

I think personally it was the FA cup exit, maybe the guys really thought we had a path to the final and they capitulated after that

Exactly when we achieved 40 points

Same time as last year

Is Silva actually training them, or just letting them play some 3 and ins and headers and volleys?

Too many of our expensive players haven't proven good enough, especially Berge, Kevin (but bad injury) and Andersen. Muniz, Bobb and Robinson have had poor seasons. Wilson carried us for a few games but has gone off the boil. ESR, King and Chuk have been, at best, inconsistent. That's a long winded way of saying we haven't been good enough and that there's a distinct lack of class. Even with a change of manager, Berge, Kevin and Andersen won't, IMO, improve; the first two lack class and Andersen is looking passed it.  We desperately need a Cairney replacement to add a bit of creativity to midfield and, clearly, an effective centre forward.

Westham at home after convincingly beating Spurs a few days earlier. Manager should have been criticised more for making those changes. I can understand Cup changes especially this season when you still had Man City Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea etc still in the competition at that stage so every chance we weren't winning it but we had some good form at the time and to choose that team against Westham was bordering criminal.

Actually this may be it. probably the combination with the cup game loss straight after people heads started turning

2nd half v spurs we beat Sunderland convincingly in one of our rare decent performances in the game before were 2 up and coasting and the second half we were struggling, followed by a totally inept performance in the next game against West Ham.

Was this when Silva internally told everyone he wasn't re signing or was it Kevin's injury

Who knows but something definitely changed around that time

When Silva rested players in thexFA Cup v Southampton

West ham at home it fell apart since then.

This
And the year before (Mitrovic' ban was just a side issue).
We have gone as far as we can with Marco. We'll never be relegated with him, but we also never win anything either.
Roll the dice i say

Have we played some great stuff this season ? If we have it's been in short supply. The Silva contract stuff has undoubtedly had a negative impact on players and supporters IMO. No one person is bigger than the club. I don't believe the club should have allowed him to dictate the situation as he appears to be doing.

well the form table since west ham has us primed for relegation. and we were part of the europe conversation still so there is some merit to us performing. feels a long way away though now I agree

We have the points on the board so we were winning games but I don't think the football has been great at any point this season. Even when we've won games have been flat.

There are many threads I could post this in, so I'm dropping it here.

The main problem this season has been inconsistency.  These are the matches where, in my view, we did more than just win—we actually played well.  In the league, we have not even managed one genuinely good performance a month on average.

Brentford (h) 3-1 September

Wolves (h) 3-0 November - they were down to 10 men

Spurs (a) 1-2 November

City (h) 4-5 December - still lost but good performance

Liverpool 2-2 and Chelsea (h) 2-1 January

Spurs (h) 2-1 March

Villa (h) 1-0 April

Remarkably, we have stayed around the same position all season, and those few strong performances have masked a lot of poor results. The rest of the league has been underwhelming, too, and we never really took advantage of that. For me, that comes back to the manager.

Since returning to the Premier League, we have averaged 51 points a season. Normally, 60 points is enough for eighth, so this has been a poor season across the league.  Remarkably, around 53 points may be enough for Europe next season.

The truth is, we are just average.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

: When did the heads go? 5 minutes after the legs!

It was when Wales were eliminated from the World Cup.

Wilson was on a tear until that point.  Fulham were scoring.

Since the lost to BH on pens, Wilson has scored zero goals in the prem.

Even now lazy pundits point to Wilson as 'the player to watch' in pregame analysis. He was that prolific.
