Interesting.

There are some decent names at arsenal who id happily have here.

It's hard to know what they're doing with their youth integration right now, but Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly and Mosquera are all very good prospects who could be starting elsewhere.

Viera had an incredible season in the Bundesliga but seems to have no future at Arsenal - I'd have him here.

My surprise pick would be Kepa Arrizabalaga, though. Experienced keeper who's still only 31, was incredible at Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago, and has the Spanish link with Arbeloa. Could be a very affordable upgrade on Leno...

Have you seen any of Kepa's recent games. Definitely nowhere near an upgrade to Leno.

You're right that he's been poor lately, but he's not had a run of games for arsenal and that clearly affects confidence.

The season before last at Bournemouth, where he was a consistent starter, his keeping stats were much better than Leno's.
Hell, his stats last season for Arsenal in his 11 starts across all competitions were comfortably better than Bernd's

Unless we move Leno on we will never sign a quality, high profile, highly paid GK!

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 19, 2026, 03:04:00 PMPersonally I'm very happy with our signings so far and the nature of our links. I do think we've been too slow yet again, however. Wasn't this our latest ever start to summer business? If it's true that we're looking to make 7-8 signings in total, I'd have hope we'd do a couple more before the season starts. And letting Diop go without a replacement lined up seems particularly poor.
Your last sentence i am totally in agreement with. It is negligent to let Diop go without a replacement. We are now planning to start the premier league season against a strong side in a derby with two very left footed CBs. Very worried about this.

Feel like we don't need him as a priority this summer, but it's squad planning and he'd be a great option if we were to get someone in and move on someone like Tete.

If the deals done by the weekend though and there are lots of other clubs in for him, it's anyone's guess if we've got him.

Nwaneri loan door opening up at Arsenal - but other reports suggest they ideally don't want to lose him on a permanent deal.

Fulham and Everton have apparently immediately been in touch now Arsenal have indicated they are willing to offer him on loan somewhere.

Gotta think given
1. Were in London
2. We got the hale end connection
3. Our manager is known for developing youth
4. No David Moyes

That we stand a chance if it's a tee of between us only. But we shall see, may well be others interested.

as for fort above the article says Barcelona asking for 15m euros for him now.

I can't reveal my source but have it on good authority that Nwaneri has fallen out with arteta because he wants to play 10 not out wide. Given we already have a number of options at 10 he likely wont want to come here

Aston Villa now reported to be interested in Chelsea's Tosin.
Ex-Fulham of course who left without a fee.
So nice tidy profit for Chelsea who reportedly were going to leave him out of their 25 named squad list anyway.
I suppose we did get something for Diop.

Im not worried at all, Diop wanted to go and to be honest he wasn't ever a starter, yes unfortunately deals fell through for a CB but the window is still open and im absolutely positive the club have this in hand

I would say our wingers don't appear to play as strict wingers under AA from what we've seen so far so that might not be an issue. Palacios started on the left and was everywhere the other day, no reason why Nwaneri can't also have that freedom from the other side. Certainly Bobb was also popping up out wide and inside on the right as well so it would be a role that might fit with what he's after

With Konaa off to The Woolwich cheeky little bid for Ben White? Versatile defender very good centre back and decent right back. What's not to like would be a big asset for a team like us but whether he would see us as a step to low?

To be fair - none of our players across wingers and CAMs seem to have much of a fixed position anyway at this point, they all seem to rotate around come inside then drift to byline etc. so ya never know...and you have to think at this point we must have held some conversations with the player or agent to gauge potential interest.

Edit* sorry didnt see deeping whites post - agree we're pretty fluid

Point is that Diop should have been a starter ahead of Andersen last season. He proved his capability and didn't put a foot wrong but was always dropped unfairly by Silva. Then he had a solid world cup for Morocco. We've sold the wrong centre back. Now he has gone and the club are left with 2 LCBs. Luc DF needs a championship loan and we will have to suffer Andersen again after his suspension this time playing in Arbeloa's high line with his lack of pace.

I get the window is still open but its too late for the first couple of games at least now. This situation should have been sorted.

Somerset Fulham

Thing is, I am not sure that we can sell Andersen. I am not sure who would pay for him or take on a wage as large as his right now, Ipswich certainly couldn't.

Personally, I don't think that he was bad at all last season and will come back into the side as soon as he can, but that is obviously a subjective opinion.

Mullers OG

Diop needs replacing. A back up to Andersen is necessary and preferably a younger better back up than Diop. Andersen is IMO the lynch pin of our defence.

The Cravenette

It is easy for us to say which CB, or any other player, should be sold. But there are a lot of moving parts to a transfer, the most important one being someone needs to make an offer. I would suggest we have not had any offers for Andersen but did have one for Diop.

The money from Issa meant we could make some early moves for players but I do agree it is less than ideal that we have not brought another RCB in yet. It is clear we are trying though.

I think many have doubts on playing two LCBs in our opener and how Andersen will fair in AAs system, time will tell. Personally I would rather our first match was not against the blue poo as I think we will need a few games to adjust. That said, I am still more excited about this season than i have been for a while.

Some suggestion from FFNs new patreon that according to a Spanish journo their move for a young midfielder might well open the door for Cestero to move here. One to watch potentially.
