Hmmmm. Me too. Feels like he's the 4th or 5th choice as we couldn't get any of the others. Still, I will not pass judgement until he plays.

Price isn't a guarantee of anything - the reason he's going for that sum is because he didn't renew his contract and it expires next summer - they were quoting £30m at the start of the window to other clubs

Sort of like Hangeland or Robinson for £2m each.

After watching that dross on Saturday we are a squad that is screaming out for a wide man with electric pace that can stretch the opposition,
Palace and Sunderland fighting it out for Fofana, he would have been excellent for us ,
I was really hoping that we were going to be linked with attacking options today, but looks like that's not the case.

Yeah, it's typically been our more expensive buys that have flopped and we've had some pretty good pickups at that price over the years.

Wouyldn't hugely surprise me to see Chukuweze back.
I think wages may be a stumbling block even if we were interested.

Good to see the Maestro on the front page of BBC sports.

Tete, TC, Raul, Robinson, Willian(?), Cuenca, Traore, Sess all cheaper and offered good value.
I think it's systematic of the modern football world that fans equate spend with success (or the potential of it).

Have faith, a rabbit may be pulled from the proverbial hat.

We seem to be trying to pick up some bargains which many on here have demanded we do to sell on for a profit. Now we are the club gets criticised.

The proof in the pudding will be in December. If we are in big trouble come January we will not have any decent finances to try and buy our way to survival.

This window is boom or bust in my opinion.

If the signings we make are dross, then it's goodbye Premier league.

Rambler

He's worth 20 mil on transfermarkt. Agree with others. All our expensive signings in recent years have thoroughly disappointed so optimistic with this one.

Tete, Robinson, Lukic, Willian, Raul, Sess etc cost less or were free. Our expensive players have been the relative flops: Andersen, ESR, Berge, Bobb and Kevin haven't exactly pulled up any trees.

We're on page 200 now, how many pages did we get to last summer?

Fulham have been interested in a late deal for AC Milan's Fikayo Tomori but they are also trying to sign another defender.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sport Witness covered the London club's interest in the Englishman. They made an offer for him and the player was carefully evaluating the idea of joining Alvaro Arbeloa's side.

At the same time, Fulham were also in the chase for Lecce's Tiago Gabriel. They were competing for his signature with AC Milan, who also want a defensive signing.

Fulham would be unlikely to sign both players and the situations of both Tomori and Gabriel are connected. If Arbeloa's side push for the Rossoneri outcast, it will hand Milan the chance to sign the Lecce talent.

But it is clear that the 21-year-old would offer better value. He has a higher ceiling and his career is going in the right direction. The same can't be said for Tomori, who has declined in the last two seasons.

Quote from: Mullers OG on September 01, 2026, 03:49:22 PMWe are quite a short team already. Affengruber is short (6 foot 1) for a CB these days.
6'1" is not that short for a CB, it's about average.

I'm 6'1",but 6'5" in my slippers. ::smile::

You have to take them out of the box first.

With getting in two CBs and having three at the club, do we sense a potential change to a back three in the offing with two wing backs further forward? Feels better suited to the players we'll have at the club.

Two CMs in front in Larsson and Charles looks promising with long term in mind, but both look like they've got quality to start too once they've settled in.
