The Boos Ring Out

I think it's a bit of both. The subs were poor - taking Charles off was ridiculous and subbing Palacios after he suddenly discovered his mojo with the jinking run in the first half and goal was strange.

But most of it is down to the players. We are carrying 3 passengers in Leno, Andersen and most of all Iwobi, who was truly shocking today.

On the plus side, Charles looks excellent, Larsson looked like he will be useful and for the love of god play Sess and make him captain - looked like the only one who understood the urgency when he came on. Bassey seems to use the captaincy as an excuse to wander wherever he feels like.

And don't even get me started on the thought process behind bringing ESR on to save the game...

hopper

Very concerning. Just seems incredibly naive.

So good attacking wise, but every time we lose it a 50 yd ball over the top and we're behind, tactical awareness in is missing, great attacking ,but will lose more than we win.

Worcesterwhite

School boy defending and goal keeping. As OP says it's turning toxic already

The thing is Anderson is 30 not 50. I slagged him off a bit last year when I thought Diop deserved a run, but he hasn't suddenly become crap. It's the tactics showing him up.

Similarly Iwobi has been solid for us but always crap in CM. Yet we play him there, out of position, and have a £25m CM (Berge) left on the bench (and Larsson signed too late in the window).

Leno I need to see replays before commenting on.

I wonder if we could beat the lowest points ever in the premier league. What an honour to win.I would like to thank our Dof for the effort he has put in  to get us relegated and the mess we will be in with players wanting to leave and Spaniards we won't be able to shift, let's hope they sell up and take that clown who has put us in this mess,no wonder silva left who could work under the poison dwarf.

Chi_FFC

On pace to concede an xGA of 79 (last season it was 54). That would be worse than Burnley last season (who were 20th of 20). And 2 of our 3 matches so far this season have been against sides that are hardly known for their offensive prowess.

Aaron

It feels a bit early for me.

  • While I've not seen the highlights from today, but the stats make it look like we dominated proceedings.
  • We were very unlucky against Chelsea in the season opener, robbed of a point, possibly three.
  • Sunderland away isn't an easy fixture.

United and Liverpool next, hard to see us getting anything out of those games, but neither will most other clubs.

If we're still at 0pts after Hull, then maybe we need to start thinking about more drastic measures.

flyingfish

Also concerning was Iwobi, ESR and Berge walking off the pitch together while the rest of the team done the walk around. And Arbeloa walking off by himself. Already looks like a very unhappy camp.

The boo's probably don't help that...

Also, just in general, booing your team after 3 games is wild. I live in the US and I'm trying to picture booing my college team after several tough losses and I just don't see it.

You boo the ref. You boo the other team. You don't boo your guys.

Not quite sure how you can say we were unlucky against Chelsea. I would argue we got a fair slice of luck in both goals we scored that day.

Maybe a bit but I also think our player's have been more intentional in positioning themselves for blocked shots. Both Garcia's and Palacio's goals were because they were in the right place for a loose ball and I don't really remember that happening last year.

I thought the boos were ridiculous. However AA walking off was not a great look.

Some of it is his fault and some of it wasn't.

I thought Bernd had a shocker. Joa was just cannot play this system.

The subs were bizarre both in timing and what he did.

I still think give him time. But this was not good today.

Were the subs odd? Sess immediately generated chances from that side, a couple of on target shots in quick succession

In all my time watching Fulham (1974), I can only recall calling for Alan Dicks and Lawrie Sanchez to go. Arbeloa's tactics are so naive that I want him gone.

Stop blaming the defence and individual defenders, the problem is that for some strange reason our fullbacks are playing as forwards.

Look at every goal that we have conceded and work out where our fullbacks are. They are probably nowhere near where you would want them to be.

good observation.

Quote from: OZ-WHITE on September 05, 2026, 05:14:32 PMAgain, not sure why everyone is on the roof burning flags. Ok, the Club took a risk with a relatively inexperienced Manager and it will take time for his system to bed it.Ok, 3 games zero points but we haven't been belted, we have been competitive and controlled the game for long periods. I,m prepared to be patient, up to the Manager now to get this right - he can't blame the players for this

Its the hope than kills!

Quote from: Karlos on September 05, 2026, 05:16:51 PMAgree new managers and systems need time but you've also got to adjust to what you see

No team will survive being this open and if Arbeloa doesn't tighten us up a bit then his time with us should be short

My worry is Marco's conservative style of attack protected the defensive deficiencies of several players. Without that blanket of protection, several players are being exposed repeatedly.

Everyone sees Andersen as the big problem and I have been a great detractor of him at times, but what I keep seeing is him getting left holding the bag for other's errors right now.
Agreed, but regrettably, he is not up to the job.
