I'm not sure about that. Anything other than a catastrophic points deduction would be met with outrage and potential lawsuits from the likes of Everton, Leicester, Forest etc.

Ha.  Please, raise your hand if you think there will be real sanctions.  The report says "Sanctions undecided".  I'm certain it's undecided between a six-figure fine and a seven-figure fine.  They will probably come out with a seven-figure fine because they want to look "really tough on crime".  And Man City players won't have their individual manicurists available on team flights for the next two seasons - they will have to make do with the team manicurist.  That's it.  There won't be any other consequences.

THERE'S NO CHANCE that real sanctions will be imposed.  They will do something that kinda looks real and maybe even sounds good, but NO CHANCE the EPL allows City to not be available to compete for Champions League titles.  They need City a lot more than City needs to league.

If it happened to Rangers, it should apply to City.
That will hurt them badly, anything else would be a slap on the wrist.
No european football for at least 4 years even if they do win FA or League Cup in the process until back in the top flight.

Yeah, I actually do think that the punishment is going to be substantial considering past punishments given out to other clubs and how much worse the facts are here compared to those earlier cases.

Yeah, I actually do think that the punishment is going to be substantial considering past punishments given out to other clubs and how much worse the facts are here compared to those earlier cases.

Exactly, the Prem has already recently deducted 6 points from Everton for two charges and 4 from Nottingham Forest for one charge. So any punishment would have to far exceed those otherwise the lawyers would have a field day given the precedents set.

I've a friend who knows someone on the Man City board.

Allegedly, this all ends in a 100pt deduction, massive financial fine, and transfer embargo for 5 seasons.

It's only what I've been told, but by the time it gets to the appeal stage, or even implemented, it won't for another few seasons yet.

Cheers. I actually asked AI on this, you're right it wouldn't have got us Europe. But perhaps more significantly, in 2013/14 we lost to City twice and an extra six points would have seen us avoid relegation. So perhaps even greater damages potential (through lost PL revenue).
