It has to be a huge fine and a ban on signing players if you include relegation they have a big advantage next season as they have some very good players meaning that you are restricting the championship to one of their members getting automatic promotion. They then play in front of big gates as well as people in the championship will love to watch their club play against Man City.
I would not want the job of sorting it out

City have been found guilty of breaking the rules to get into the top team cartel.

Chelsea admitted guilt & got a slapped wrist whilst still engaging in creative accounting & extreme horse trading of players to still try to sit at the top table.

Newcastle & Villa have been thwarted in spending their owners money to compete on a regular basis at the top of the tree.

Original villains? The original 'big clubs' who formed the Premium League in 1992 & who want to retain the status quo for them to continue to fill their boots.

City must be severely punished, relegated like Glasgow Rangers but as we cannot turn the clock back to eradicate the Premier League, maybe now is the time for the self entitled elite to go play in their European Super League amongst themselves.

League adamant wholesale fiddling of agreements and accounting.
City saying there a body of evidence to the contrary
They can't both be right. I wonder why City are so adamant or is it they need to keep up this pretence until after their appeal

Or could they have evidence ?

Hit them hard and ensure it takes a long time for them to return to the top.

I believe these rules first came in to protect clubs from their owners spending beyond their means and threatening their existence.

It seems that over time they have become more complicated, especially for PL clubs and it's become almost impossible for clubs outside the highest earners to compete.

I'm sure I read somewhere that our owner is the 5th or 6th richest owner in the PL but if he wanted to he cannot use his wealth to attempt to buy success.

It's interesting to see his son's wrestling business is sponsoring our ladies team which probably achieves very little publicity but I'm sure it's an amount acceptable to the authorities.

I think most fans believe the current rules on how much can be spent based on football related income massively benefits the so called top clubs and needs to change.

Surely a way can be found that allows an owner to put their money into the club for recruitment if they guarantee its honest money and purely a gift?

Apparently the owners put in nearly £1bn worth of money they shouldn't have through sham contracts. Just kick them out of the pyramid.

Just cheating scum, boot them out and watch that oasis morons cry

The list of charges and allegation is amazing. No wonder it took so long to untangle.

The scale of the deceit is so great it is inconceivable, to my mind, that the punishment could be anything less than expulsion from the Premier League. The money their owners have laundered has undoubtedly bought the Club titles and trophies they would not have won otherwise. City's achievements both during this period and since have been completely soured. Football supporters in general will, I suspect, reject their success and City will become a footnote in the record books of this era.

Rambler

Before the news this evening I thought they'd be stripped of their titles, a hefty fine and a transfer ban which ultimately wouldn't do much to affect the status quo. The fans wouldn't care so much because they 'experienced' the highs of winning years ago and that can't be taken away from them.

Now, reading about the scale, the deceit and everything else I can't see how they won't be kicked out of the football league. No team has lied and cheated on this scale. Not juventus who were relegated for their cheating.

Honestly good riddance if they do. No team is bigger than the league and it must be played fairly.

It's pretty obvious this will end up in the high court so anything is possible. Guilty parties have been exonerated before on technical matters of law.

St Eve

My understanding is to be relegated they have to have a points deduction, say 100 points , which would obviously seal it. If they were expelled from the premier league the EFL, 72 clubs, would decide their entry level, which one would think would be league 2

Carborundum

Man City are clearly going to throw the kitchen sink at fighting the outcome.

So it perhaps won't be too long before they point out that the amount they spent was more similar than different to Manchester United and that a competition where some entrants are allowed to spend vastly more than others is like watching the Olympic 100m final with blocks set at different points on the track.  Was then.  Still is now.

The rules are inherently problematic.  The group of players that won the titles really were the best those seasons, they really did win those games, those games really took place.  I watched some.

What a mess and there's every chance it's going to get messier yet. National states are, quite literally, a law unto themselves.

They would fail the financial rules in the Championship. Relegation completely destroys them. The club will implode. The owners will walk away.

And a lot of other clubs in the Premiership are squeeky clean?
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Snibbo

A financial bloke on the Henry Winter podcast has run a spreadsheet, calculating the minimum amounts that other clubs can claim to have lost due to Man City's cheating. Basically every loss of a higher position in the table, every relegation that wouldn't have happened, every failure to qualify for Europe etc. He's come up with 600-700 million quid. That's a conservative estimate of what other clubs could sue City for, and doesn't include things like player's bonuses. He thinks that there should be a sort of class settlement between City and the League for an agreed figure (e.g. 700 mill) which would then be distributed to the affected clubs (about 30 of them).  That of course requires City to admit guilt. That's separate from any penalty such as points deduction or expulsion of course. Also requires other clubs to be prepared to settle for that. The likes of ManU might want a lot more.

This worries me. Anyone remember IUX? Our official "CFD Trading Partner" from two years ago who:

Had fake employees on LinkedIn
Had its profile on Trustpilot suspended for fake endorsements
Claimed to be founded earlier than it had been
Had no identifiable senior executives
Was not authorised by the FCA

Then before that we had Titan Capital Partners: https://theuglygame.wordpress.com/2022/10/04/cash-of-the-titan-fulham-mlms-and-impossible-returns/

If not then let them all be investigated and punished, Fulham included.

I'm sick of how money has wrecked the sport.
