I'm not the type to talk about paper rumours but this is in the Mirror I believe today. Darren Bent to reunite with Martin Jol for £12m. Would post link but I am on my phone, perhaps someone could go searching. Was tweeted by Matt Law, I think that was his name.

Darren Bent is the archetypal 'goals are overrated' striker. He'll take a relatively high proportion of chances created by others and oppo mistakes, but he offers virtually nothing else.

We have much greater needs than striker to sort out if we do have that kind of money.

It's the Fulham hating Mirror again trying to start completely unfounded rumours to try and unsettle the club.
We have more than enough forwards all vying for a place in the lineup, we are one of the highest scoring teams so far so why do we won't a misfiring forward that only brings something when he scores.

Absolute load of drivel, especially at 12m. What club would pay anywhere near that for him at the moment? certainly not us. Jol knows our priority is a central midfielder and a central defender to replace Hangeland for our small budget

He'd score quite a lot of goals with Ruiz and Berba creating chances behind him bu Jol doesn't like paying over the odds for English players so but he may available at a cut price. In regard to Fulham hating, two of their sports journo's are Fulham fans so I don't think that is the case.

Despite Villa's position, their new manager is no mug. That's why Bent does not play.  I remember being at the Tottenham game, when Bent was rated. He was absolutely useless. Did nothing off the ball and couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo when he had the ball.
Definite NO from me.

I watched the Villa match yesterday morning, and they mentioned that -- against us -- Bent touched the ball a total of NINE TIMES. When he came on as a sub for Benteke late in the game, I don't think he touched the ball more than once.

The issue is that if he is not getting service, he is worse than a passenger - he actively holds back a team because he cannot contribute to build up play.

Of course when he is getting service he is deadly and his record shows that. Currently at Villa he is getting no service and looks terrible, if he came to Fulham he would get lots of service and look good.

Do I want him? I'm not sure. On the one hand he could probably get 15 goals a season in our current set up, on the other I fear he would detract from the team as a whole and force other players back out of position.

To be honest, I would rather a CM and a CB in Jan before we even thought about a striker.

We are missing a direct style of striker and Bent has done well in the past with the right service. But he is massively over priced and we seem to be short of the old cash to spend on players. So strikers may be down on the list of positions we need strenthening.

I think Jol can get the best out of him. Might actually be interesting. Berba and Bent would be top5 striking pair definetely.  I like Petric though.

The guy who is occassionally on talksport early in the morning (6am) and a spam fan is lead journalist on the Mirror and every season he predicts we will get relegated, regularly comes out with crap about Fulham. I think he also writes for the People on Sunday(which is part of Mirror group). If you look at the three outlandish Rumours- Bent, Jol & Ferdinand all originate from the  Mirror, need I say more?
