I wonder what stopped us being ambitious about promotion after the McCormack signing and the utter mess that followed? It is almost as if the management just threw their hands in the air and gave up.

I really thought we would follow through and sign Championship experience to go along with what we had. Fotheringham and Kiraly have finally made me realise that whoever comes in now. Will be at best inexperienced and deeply unfit. Or very very experienced and deeply unfit.

I think you'll find that Kahn is still very naive to the game, and that Magath has managed to convince him that he can gain promotion from the Championship with the kids.

It certainly seems that Magath has Khan's support rather more than the usual "we are supporting the manager" that can preceed a sacking.

I would be prepared to back a "We will win promotion with the kids" policy IF Magath had settled on a team and wasn't giving everybody a turn AND IF Magath wasn't recruiting players that are barely average for the Championship let alone fit for a return to the Premiership.

I really thought that after buying McCormack it would have been just a start to us bringing in quality players. What has stalled this?. We have gone back to the last 3 years of bringing in freebies & players of dubious quality just to swell the ranks.

My question would be who is behind the signing of McCormack? Does anyone know who is behind a lot of the decisions at the club at the moment. I too, like a lot on here thought after McCormack's signing we would go on to sign some more quality players but the opposite has happened, we are signing freebies and players ready to hang up their boots. I find it all baffling and even find myself wondering was McCormack's signing purely made to make it look to fans and the media that Fulham FC were serious about promotion and keep bums on seats. Like a lot of people I think the club is in serious danger of another relegation under the current owner and manager, they are sleepwalking toward the abyss.

Agreed.

If you're going to try and bounce back straight away I think it takes a calculated risk and full commitment otherwise there's really no point.  Spending £11m on a striker and then selling your goalkeepers and hiring a 34 year old journeyman midfielder makes absolutely no sense to me.

That said, it does feel like we've done this every window since time immemorial.  Seems to be one marquee with a big price tag and then after that it's straight down to Poundland for a poke in the bargain bin.  It's a shame the players with the big price tags never come close to living up to what we pay for them.

I wonder if considering the potential implications of the financial fair play business have the powers that be actually decided that survival is enough for this season while we build a new stand and whatever else and by the time next year rolls around our kids will be world beaters and we'll walk back into the Premiership a year later on the cheap?

I'm also no longer convinced that Mitroglou, Dave or Ruiz are going anywhere (not that we need anymore strikers) so I'm wondering if the 10-15 million we would have expected to recoup on them was intended to have been ploughed back into the team?

In any event (and despite having said something to the contrary many times..) I simply cannot accept that those in charge of the club are as blatantly stupid as we seem to think they are.  We just don't have the full picture.

I bumped into macintosh at motspur park station before the brentford game and fair play to him he stood there in the rain chatting to me for a good 10 mins. Every question I asked him his reply was I dont know. He said he is keeping his head down at the moment and when I asked if it was true that magath speaks direct to khan and keeps mac out of the loop he just laughed and again replied 'like I said, im not sure about anything thats going on at the minute'. He looked so depressed and isolated that I almost felt sorry for him.

Its his own fault for so many poor decisions but it seems quite clear magath has got khan wrapped round his little finger. He rings him everyday apparently. Worrying times ahead!

Khan doubtless sees AM as MAF's man and responsible for bringing in Jol. To what extend he blames him for the Rene/Curbs/Wilkins/Mitroglou debacle I don't know. It's odd that FM should then openly say that negotiations (inward or outward) are nothing to do with him, meaning presumably AM. And then AM seems to be giving the impression that he's sidelined and that all is not well.

Maybe someone else should buttonhole him when they can and see if there's any more to be learned. I can imagine that he fears for his future and maybe deserves a little more understanding than he's been getting.

That's what keeps you sane.

I don't buy into any of the conspiracy theories - I assume Khan wants success which means promotion and a sustainable business plan.

We don't have to obsess about FFP but the club must and it may be that we can't spend without getting some big earners off the books.

Khan clearly is backing Magath fully. Maybe he's cleverer than us or maybe that will end in disaster. We can only watch and hope.

Felix's qoutes from his letter suggest we are no longer on the hunt for a keeper. I just hope to god we get ourselves a half decent CM. If Parker gets injured (or his injury from Weds is serious) we are in trouble. We have been so light in CM for so many years now. About 4 years ago we had the luxury of choosing from, Murphy, Bullard, Etuhu, Baird, Sidwell. No we have Fotheringham... How the mighty fall.
