On the plus side with Columbia pumping Poland, Krychowiak will be going home early. If we're serious about signing him it'll speed the process up a bit

According to Fotballleagueworld, we are looking at signing Flint for £8 million and Grealish for £15 million. Wouldn't put too much weight into this as I doubt Villa would accept £15 million for their golden goose. £8 million for Flint sounds like what he'll go for though, judging by the overall interest.

When the HMRC knock on the door and say "give us the money" - he will go for whatever they can get

Sadly for Villa everyone knows that they are near to bust, so no one is going to be putting their hands too deep into their pockets

And we still have £6m in the bank there from Mc. Cormack.

Flint: decent Ch. CB. We have (I trust) moved on from the days of sticking a lamp-post in that position, otherwise we could have stuck with Dan Burn, another decent Ch. CB who didn't help our preferred style of play.

Grealish: Very talented, but would only be of immediate use to us if we didn't have Tom Cairney. Which we do (don't we?). I doubt that he would be prepared to wait around until he became better than Tom.

Fortunately 'footballleagueworld' is about as far down the garbage production line as you can get (If you click the link you go straight to some advert.)

Grealish would be competition for Johansen spot. Talented player. I personally think there is better out there than Flint but at least he will help in the box for set pieces which could be important next season as we are a very small side. That's if either of these 2 are genuine targets for Fulham
Come on you Whites!! :)

I can remember Peter Crouch doing much the same when he moved from Portsmouth to Spuds - we were supposed to have been the high bidder - but Robot Man dug his heels in because he wanted to join up with Harry - so they had to sell him to Spuds

The £6m could work against us. If they sell to us we would take that into account, if they sell elsewhere the whole fee could go to  HMRC.

Yes, but Villa might prefer that option as it eliminates debt without having to go to HMRC.

I seem to think that debt to other clubs comes before HMRC can have a nibble

Think you may be wrong but stand to be corrected.

My understanding is that tax deducted from player salaries take priority, then the debts owed to other clubs. Tax on profits due to HMRC are then included with all other creditors.

I've no idea of your level of knowledge but the rule I am referring to is the football creditors rule. In fairness I've never read anything about the treatment of different types of tax. However the basic principle of the rule is that other football clubs should be paid and privileged ahead of all other creditors including HMRC. It would be odd if they deviated from that basic principle just for a particular type of tax debt

As I said i think it's all highly irrelevant. A business worth £100m+ and owned by a Chinese billionaire Isn't going bust because it owes £5m to HMRC
[/quote

Agree probably irrelevant.

The reason for HMRC come first is that the money's due are actually deductions from player salaries they have already been paid and when later paid to HMRC are credited to the individual players tax accounts.  The money belongs to the players and not the club.

Fulham rumoured to be one of several clubs that are showing interest in Clément Grenier, 27, who seems to have got his career back on track at Guingamp. €3m fee.

Am I misremembering or were we in for Grenier a couple of years back after we lost Murphy?

Being floated in a couple spots now that NUFC want 30 million for Mitro.  Ashley is such a twit.  I'd say anything over 20 and we need to look elsewhere, unfortunately.

They are trying to eek out closer to £25m if this move is true.

Not sure if he is even worth £25 mil unless its in installments that include the extra £5 mil if we win the Prem :005:
