I wrote a mail to Tommy.

It is only the second time in my life that I have ever written to someone to complain about something.

The first time was after *that* match at the Baseball Ground. I wrote to Graham Kelly, then chairman of the Sweet FA, to ask him to justify on what basis the FA refused to replay the match against Derby given all the precedent to then had been to replay any match that had been abandoned. I even managed to research which ones, which given this was before the Age of the Internet was no mean feat!

To be fair to Kelly, he did respond, the reasoning for not having a replay was because the pre-match conditions could not be recreated - i.e. on the day there was a possibility that Derby could be relegated, but as it happened the results went their way and so in a replay scenario they would have nothing to play for (they knew they would be safe, whatever) whereas we would (we had to win to go up).
