The season hasn't gone as well as I would have liked but we have 2 games to go and we could still finish on a very decent number of points. That certainly would be a good base to push on from.,even if some posters seem to think this is no big deal . The limits of our squad (particularly in bringing in central midfielders and a striker ) has cost us and that is clearly not down to Marco Silva. The idea of bringing in a new coach will automatically give us a better chance of "winning something " is just plain stupid given the fact that we have failed to do that so far in the long history of our club.
If Marco was seriously allowed to bring in the players he wants then THAT would be our best chance of finally winning something in my opinion.

I think it's a bit of both. Wholeheartedly agree we've really suffered from lack of investment up front and in CM. However, I also think our style of play is too conservative. We're both overly cautious in possession and too passive out of possession. That's down to Silva.

Down the Estádio da Luz i'm burning with ambition
The Primeira Liga is where I wanna be
And if you see what a team we've got this season
You know the reason I'll get there easily
But first I'm heading down Benfica Way
To show the world that I can really play

{chorus}
Oh this year I am off to sunny Portugal
Viva El Benfica
And next year I'm in the Champions League
Viva El Benfica
Jose M is a wonder that's for sure
Viva El Benfica
Thanks for him opening the dorr?
It's Benfica por favor

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Until your last sentence I agreed with you wholeheartedly. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that Silva hasn't been   allowed to bring in players. I think FFP rules are the biggest culprits of that.

I was resigned to Silva going a while ago as it is quite easy, if the claims from the Board are true, to just say, "where do I sign". In my mind I am hoping there is a lot of subterfuge going on, late night phone calls, blacked out Range Rovers entering and leaving Motspur Park, candlelit meetings between representatives and a hit list of five whittled down to one and the diary cleared for the great unveiling as soon as Silva says he is off two minutes after the end of the Newcastle game.
My mind is a pile of fog though so I guess it will be mid July then with our prime targets already off to Bournemouth, Brentford and Palace.

I mean, I for one would like to have continued stability in the PL. Silva would likely bring that and is the "known" commodity. But it seems like over the last 10 games he's been checked out. And that's where I have an issue. I feel like his disappearance on the bench is really what's causing a downward progression. And that's why I'm really leaning towards a change. I'd be really worried if he signed a 4 year deal after seeming to check out. I'm almost ready for a change after the Wolves game if we don't get into any European positions.

Marco was allowed to spend £200m on 3 players he wanted.

Ok slip of the fingers re the maths at 2am this morning but you can spilt hairs if you want. Marco has been supported even to the extent signing older expensive prem experienced players with no sell on value which take up a big chunk of a our wage bill.

It's quite a major slip of the fingers- that's doubling the truth. We've spent half of that on our most expensive 3 players ever.
Yes he's been given money to spend but last season we spent less than every club bar Villa. In the last 4 seasons we've spent the 19th most in the league.

We can only spend what we are allowed to and Silva has been backed to say he hasn't is wrong. Whether that money has been spent wisely is down to Silva.

Colinwhite

Don't want too split hairs but most of the signings under Silva have been decent.
