Our Manager

Has he actually got it in him,to motivate this side.
For what I've seen last few months,I don't think he has.

The sooner he goes the better as far as I'm concerned. Another season that promised so much had fizzled out.

The evidence is clear,we play slow stodgy football with little real threat.

On occasions when we are chasing the game we show some desire to attack with pace and invention.

The style of play is locked into the team with players shackled to this ponderous approach.

It can only be the manager who demands it and its not working.

FFC007

As soon as the 40 points were achieved I think the tools were downed and that was it.

Same as last season, close to the Europa spots yet we've gone off the menu and things went south quickly.

Next season will be intriguing, and hopefully not a relegation scrap.

I don't really know what his plan is for our strikers, they never seem to do anything apart from occasionally hold it up at the half way line.

Coast94

Yep, time to go. There I said it.

Harsh. Marco has been sussed because he's working with a thin squad and been here 5 years.

You bring in Slavisa J with Kevin and Bobb and give them a little freedom, he'd be the dogs blx for a few years.

MS has been wonderful, but there's been matriculation and it's ok if both parties move on.

Worcesterwhite

I would like to thank Marco for the past 5 seasons as he has been great for us.

However I do think it is a time for a parting of the ways, others managers, Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace, Brentford, etc are working off smaller/similar budgets and achieving more.

Also time to move on high earners like Leno, Jimenez, Anderson (on long contract will be no takers)

Non of the above teams require old school high earners, so why do we?

Modern football requires a new approach recruitment, we need to keep up, find young undiscovered talent

HobGoblin

I Want him out, stinking up the club, the arrogance on the contract front, the awful football. The drop off every season.

Time for him to go and fresh ideas to be brought in.

SuffolkWhite

As much as this season fails in the last quarter like the others under Marco, we have still achieved good final league  positions with Marco compared to other seasons historically.

Yes I appreciate the sideways backwards football this season is difficult to deal with but Marco has achieved midtable again for us, and we're not happy with it, expectation has risen for the fans!

Change Marco for another Manager? Why not! But be careful what you wish for!

Just a last thought, I calculate we are owed at least 4 points from the awful officials and var this season.

I hope we get a chance to thank Marco at the Newcastle game and let him go with good feelings 🙏.

Hey SW, yeah I agree with most of what you said. I do think our expectations have increased, mainly due to how well our mid-table compatriots are doing despite spending less and having a smaller wage bill than us. That and because for the second year in a row, two teams who would historically have finished in the top six are having an absolutely crap season. We should be able to get into Europe with this squad, it's a pretty good one but yet time and time again we bottle it.

You lot are going to be pissed when he turns Benfica down & signs a new deal

That announcement would go down like a bucket of sick at the moment.

I Ronic

My Sunday mornings involve a large black coffee and a cigarette (a bad habit I've recently rediscovered after years of abstinence) and a trip round FoF to find a thread that broadly fits my current mood.
I've followed the 'if you can't find something positive to say. Then say nothing' is sore tested at the moment. However I'm leaning towards the fact that there are more positives than negatives. Shad, Marco and all at the club have proved on the whole that they're all the right people to be involved. Just like many of us they can't be happy with the lost opportunities of this season and the end of last season. It's time for a serious look on how to build on what we have. The managers at Palace and Bournemouth have called time on their spells with their clubs. I don't think we should be following them. Just a deep and radical rethink of how we can take the next steps forward.
I'm off to spend a couple of quite hours with my bee's to do something along those lines for the start of our season together.

Carborundum

Over the course of thirty six games, he's done respectably well with a midfield that was so obviously in need of an overhaul last summer and didn't get one.

So the face value position, that the club wants him to stay and he's undecided makes sense to me.

In life pressure builds, pressure finds ways to dissipate.  In two weeks we will have a finale which may or may not be his farewell.  The pressure to resolve during the next fortnight is there alright, but it's entirely possible the brinkmanship continues beyond then.

Whatever happens regarding the manager, I'm just tired of watching opposition midfielders who are better than ours.  Marco Silva probably is too, but he's measured, guarded and frequently opaque in his choice words, much to his credit and frankly that quality boosts his employability elsewhere.

Burt

I'm as disappointed as the rest of us with regard to the team taking their foot off the pedal when there's European places up for grabs, particularly because it seems to be something of a habit now.

Part of that does lie with the manager, Marco is responsible for leading and motivating the team, after all.

And yet... Is the real issue more to do with the backing he (and any manager who comes in after him) needs from the board to address the obvious shortcomings we have in the team? Particularly up front.

We are so close to being a very good team, and that is as much to do with ownership as it is with Marco.

I would be careful with what we wish for.

And am grateful for another season without a relegation scrap on our hands.

The board has supported him in signing 3 players for £200m over the last couple of years. These are players that Marco wanted. We will never know what the discussions were around a new striker maybe Marco thought Muniz would step up this season and so left the front line as it is but it hasn't worked out. Who is that down to?
