This summer's our most crucial in years... it feels like a real sliding doors moment. Silva's tenure's stuttered to a limp end and whoever succeeds him will inherit a squad in dire need of an overhaul.

Too many players have become 'comfortable' - satisfied picking up a handsome wage, while having a kick around with their ex-Arsenal mates. We need more grit. Time after time we've stumbled when the going gets tough. Squandered strong positions. The year's been no different. For all the supposed attacking talent on our books, our output's quite frankly pathetic.

I'd like to see the following leave the club in the next window. Probably fanciful, seeing as most of them are tied down to long, well-paying deals, but here we are:

Andersen - Continues to let the club down in the big moments. Unacceptable for an apparent 'leader' and senior player. Bournemouth was the final straw. I'd happily see him never play for us again.

Reed - Nothing against him, but simply way below the required level. A good Championship player that should've been moved on years ago.

Berge - Never has such a big unit had so little presence on the field. Often weak in the challenge. Allergic to passing forwards or shooting. Constantly slows things down for no apparent reason.

ESR - Where to start? 0 assists all season from the key number 10 role speaks volumes. A non-entity of a player. Shows flashes, but lacks craft and guile. Hasn't really improved. Part of the Arsenal 'cosey club'. We all expected so much more when we signed him. Hugely underwhelming given his price tag.

Muniz - 1 goal all season. 1. Injuries or not, that's a pitiful return for our main number 9. Hasn't had the greatest service, but barely gets in a position to impact games. Matches often pass him by. Technically very poor. Not good enough and needs replacing.

Kevin almost made this list, but I'm inclined to give him more time. Same for Bobb.

Can't argue with any of that.

Totally agree with your analysis except I don't think it's generally a lack of effort but more a lack of quality, although Andersen is the exception who seems to be picking up a pension rather than a wage. A promoted team might be prepared to be robbed of £20m for Berge in the belief that Granit Xhaka supposedly shows how an experienced DM can keep you in the division (a much better player, of course). Unfortunately, no one will buy Andersen or ESR because of their wages so we're stuck with them. Kevin needs a fair trial but looking a bit short of the necessary ability at this level. Muniz has been totally ineffectual since his return and we should have flogged him when we had the chance.

I think theres a basis of a team there as good as BHA, B'mouth & Brentford but we lack quality in 4 or 5 positions.
Most importantly a positive attacking mindset when we have the ball, unless I'm mistaken worse teams than us are more dangerous and achieve more simply by being more adventurous in attack.

Today's game is an example of that.

A different manager may well get the best out of these players, I think the squad is ok but a different approach from a new Manager will bring different outcomes.

We have decent players in many positions, the set up is wrong, to defensive, to slow and ponderous when we transition to attack. Needs an overhaul of the system. Silva has no fresh ideas and we need a fresh approach

Nope, keep every single player, change the manager, watch the squad blossom. A few additions, always needed, but we have more than enough to comfortably make Europe, what we don't have is a manager capable of getting us there.
