Supports my claim that AP was one of the most underrated players in recent memory and slagged off by many improperly.

We are in desperate need of someone who takes the chance to go forward instead of kicking is sideways or backwards. AP could almost always be counted on doing that, it's why his pass comp % was always in the bottom half for his position, but lord knows we need more attack minded players in the midfield. If it not for Lukic who has shown some decent drives forward in recent games it's like we are playing without any attacking midfield at all.

We are 15th in goals per match and 17th in shots per match, but 5th in total passes completed. That doesn't pass the smell test.

Agreed as annoying as AP was, at least he had balls and tried to make things happen,
We could definitely use another high energy signing like him, Bobb and ESR and King just play  tippy tappy, short pass football

I'm perplexed that ESR still has his defenders on here but I respect your opinion.

He has been consistently either poor or underwhelming. There's been brief glimpses of him trying hard and lifting the team up "a bit" when he came on. However I could count those games on one hand.

I think we need to admit defeat on this one. Perhaps a lower Prem team might take a punt at £15m?

Definitely worth a try with new manager. There is a player in there but perhaps needs a higher level of players around him. On our current form, I doubt Messi could look good in this team. Think ESR needs to get himself fit first.

I think he's sharper in terms of what he's capable of then some of the players around him. If you look he's often quite aware of what's going on, but others aren't moving in the ways he's thinking of. Yes, there's a responsibility for that he can take, but I do think another manager could get more out of him perhaps.

I believe theres a player in there somewhere but he needs to rethink his approach to the game and probably a new coach to fire him up!

I feel for him, he has some really nice moments of play as a connecting part in games but he's not threatening the opposition really.

But, we're not exactly a team that creates real goalscoring opportunities; whilst he's maybe a part of that, our creativity doesn't get better if we play King instead and in the past few months it doesn't seem to matter what combination of players we play anywhere.

The entire team has been out of form down this stretch so I feel harsh to pick one out in particular. I did expect much more from him in this second season though.

I'd be very interested in seeing how he does under a new ideology. I think he's far from a lost cause but as others have mentioned, I'm not sure we complement him (or anyone honestly). He'd flourish under an Iraola, I'm sure of that.

The problem isn't a particular player, its the system they're being asked to play in that negates any open play opportunities because of Silva's insistence on slow build up before spamming a cross into the striker. ESR isn't getting the chance to utilise any good movement ahead of him because we don't have any

He gets the ball often enough but chooses to lay it off straight away. I'm sure Silva wouldn't object if he kept hold of it and took on the defence more often.
 However, when he does he frequently appears to be off balance, and consequently loses the ball.
The system of play shouldn't stifle initiative in a player of such assumed quality.

I'm on the fence with this. He does always seem to be lethargic and he is not the quickest. Doesn't seem to have the stamina for 90 minutes either.

Steve Marlet and Kostas Mitroglou are two that immediately come to mind.

And anyway "Pound for Pound", Emile Smith Rowe has represented pretty good value IMO. He's always been a tad on the weighty side.

I was playing FIFA 23 the other day (released nearly 4 years ago now), World Cup Mode, Smith Rowe was in the England Squad as a reserve with a rating of 78 just behind the likes of young Bellingham at the time on 80.

Sad to see that the guy has never pushed on, I have never taken to him at all, and he has never looked fit to me.

Half the problem I believe is ego,still thinks he should be at his beloved Gunners,and also thinks he's too good for us.
