Pretty shocked by the news really, very sad, I think Kevin is one of the very best personalities in football of all time, loved his positive attitude.
He did great things at Fulham of course.

A Fulham fan is on Talksport right now talking about his time here, he was a young kid aged 9 and wrote a letter to Fulham asking for a signed photo, he got a a personal letter back from Kevin inviting him down for a day to meet the team, and said that Kevin was just great. He still has a photo of himself sitting on Kevin's shoulders, waving a Fulham scarf from that day.

Talksport is good at times like this, lots of people calling in with stories and tributes.

Legend is a word banded around for a lot of people, some undeserving.

However, for King Kevin, the use of the word legend is insufficient in my eyes.

He was an outstanding footballer, a great character and I was absolutely behind him when he challenged Fergie in his title run in with Newcastle.

He will be sorely missed.

As a kid in the 70s, Keegan was the real Roy of the Rovers Superstar.

Liverpool had to ban him from the TV series of the same name because he was so competitive he injured himself falling off in the cycle race.

Sent off fighting with Bremner in the Charity Shield preseason 'friendly'. Always appeared totally committed in whatever he did.

European footballer of the year twice when playing for Hamburg when most English players would not have considered playing overseas.

When I first met him at Fulham right from the off he was a genuinely friendly fella, had a few meetings and lunches with him.

Broke many moulds, eg playing in Germany and I believe the first British player to win the Ballon d'Or (twice at that).
His competitive and fearless spirit was evident on Superstars, yet a real 'man of the people.'

What a guy

A hero of mine given he was one of the first managers I really remember watching us play under when I first started supporting Fulham. Really fell in love with fulham during that time and it laid the stage for what came after massively.

Such a passionate character and I still quote "I will love it if we beat them" to this day.

Very sad news. He may have only been at our club for a short period unfortunately but what a great time it was. Super Micky Adams started things off then King Kev took it up another couple of levels.

Geoff Horsfield said Kevin Keegan would make you feel 10 feet tall. A very inspiring guy.

...actually that last one is not entirely true. I went to Anfield for the match on the morning of the Grand National (1977 v Leeds I think). I was amazed that Keegan, although by far the best player on view, was getting dog's abuse from the Kop every time he went near the ball. This, it was explained to me, was because he had decided to go to Hamburg (for 4 times the money) at the end of the season. This treatment, despite what he had achieved for Liverpool, struck me as being distictly lacking in class.

One of the proper real deal legends and a wonderful character. Feel privileged to have had him at our club. Division Two Fulham manager and England manager as a side hustle - what a wonderfully surreal memory! Very sad this one. RIP.
