This Club is an absolute grade A joke

In 4 of the last 5 summers, Bar Palhinha which was much earlier, our first signing has been made somewhere between 24th-26th of July. Officially, the record will say JKA was signed way earlier this summer but in terms of new players we're approaching that now.

Seems plausible that'll be close to the case again between all the different RM players, Nwaiwu and Charles. Seems likely one will be over the line in July

ESR went on Arsenal's summer tour before being signed with us so whats the big deal about that with Nwaiwu?

Not that I'm on the alarmist bus here, but I do think we shouldn't really be comparing windows to this one considering we only just got a new manager with relative zero experience of running and the running of our club, the league, and having some experienced (with key statistics) heads leave.

I do feel like the club should be feeling the pinch (and hopefully they are and react to it) so a tad more urgency than any of the other windows would be very much welcomed, and required. 

Fair enough, I don't really think having a new manager means we should have made our first signing other than JKA quicker but it would be nice to get some quality numbers in the door sooner than last window that's for sure.

I'd like to see us get the first 1 or 2 in the door in the coming week or 2 ideally and does seem we're trying to make that happen. Hopefully Tranbonzospor find a replacement so they feel they can release Nwaiwu sooner rather than later. I'd like him at least to have a good amount of time getting used to our defense prior to the first game. Worst case there it's Luc DF first game up who had a good world cup but I think we all naturally aren't certain is ready for a full prem season (happy to be proven wrong)

We're definitely short on depth currently but not like we don't have a very capable starting side to field as it stands. Just needs more quality and depth which will come.

yeh agreed, and actually getting say, 2 in by next week would go a long way I think. On your last point, if this was a like for like managerial replacement who play same styles etc, I'd agree with you but I'd guess that's not really how Arbeloa sets his sides up so I'd imagine quicker signings could be more urgent to fit to that.....or he's already working on current players who are better designed to play how he wnats compared to Silva and gets more out of them.....like Berge maybe?

Perhaps, his system is fairly similar to ours from what I could ascertain, a few alterations and variations, but not a million miles apart. Seems a little more fluid in positioning, and more focus on high press (of which I think Nwaiwu is key with is recovery pace - hence I would like him in the door soon ideally, hopefully they let him depart soon)

Interested to see if any of the young academy lads step up too. Main key areas for now are areas we allegedly have bids in at least:

Striker (Garcia)
CB (Nwaiwu)
RW (Franco)
CM (Shea Charles)

No idea if all or any will work out but at least the areas I look at the squad and think need prioritising are the ones we've supposedly signficiant deals submitted. Who knows the truth of where they are at. Hopefully if only for peoples sanity on here we'll start seeing some here we go's over the next couple weeks.

I think the Kahn's hearts and wallets are in the right place but not their heads. Tony needs to stop juggling wrestling, American football and us. We deserve someone working on Fulham whole heartedly 100% of the time and I hope the next time he's in front of an interviewer they push him on that.

signing players at the end of August can mean they've missed 15% of the season.

. Whilst it can mean that, this season it's just two of thirty eight league games, 5.26% for the mathematically inclined.

Though looking at it another way, with the second round of the Carabao Cup in August, if we get knocked out that would be one of three completion involvements over, 33% of the season done.  But I don't think it's necessarily the Carabao Cup that's driving frustrations expressed on here.

If the clubs are negotiating on the fine details, it's logical for the Turkish team to take Nwaiwu on the preseason tour, he might still be their player if we switch to other targets, so training with the team is sensible.  How much they choose to play him in preseason fixtures of any intensity, that's a slightly different matter.

Perhaps the Silly Season thread needs a rebrand to become the Stoic Season thread.

I appreciate that there are still 5 weeks of the window left, but, if the window closed tonight we would get relegated this season, no ifs no buts that's the predicament we are in,
Our squad needed strengthening before any one left,
Silva left an unbalanced squad that lacked goals from all over the pitch, then Wilson and Jimenez left, which Silva would have been fully aware of,
We need defenders that know how to score and we need midfielders that can contribute as well, and a prolific front three, we currently have none of that
Arbeloa must have been close to tears when he realised what Silva had left him,
By Friday of next week we need at least two in that are a huge upgrade on what we've already got,
I'd suggest we don't hold our breath.

This pre-season isn't like the last few seasons under Silva. We have a new manager and have lost three first team regulars, two of them scored a high percentage of our goals last season.  With a new manager comes uncertainty for the players and probably a change in playing style and tactics so a lot more information to get over to the existing squad as well as integrating the (hopefully) new arrivals. To be in the position we are now with four weeks to the start of the league season is very Fulhamish but still totally unacceptable IMO.

We may yet see new arrivals in the next week or so and feel a bit less anxious about the coming season but it's already looking like our first choice striker target Garcia isn't likely to come.

I feel certain that a full time DOF based at Motspur Park would make a difference and must be better than having a part time DOF that is rarely in the UK and is busy with other projects.

To dance the tango, you need a partner. Fulham is working hard to improve the squad, but competition and prices are steep. What I feel many people overlook is that Fulham isn't as appealing as the top clubs. Regardless of relegations, let's support boys and make the most of the summer! Life is too short.

I am most certainly not a Khans out person, I think they have brought stability and investment in equal measure. However I am seriously worried about the state of our current squad; it has no goal threat whatsoever (sorry Muniz but no way are you up to the job), midfield cover is full of holes and our back four is an injury away from crisis. This is not good enough. If we see several transfers come flooding in during the next couple of weeks, then fine I will cheer from the rooftops. If not I also see a relegation fight looming.

I don't see why signing players late every year is now treated as a mitigant. All it shows that this is a recurring problem at this club. The arguments have been done to death in previous years but I think this point it's generally agreed it has an adverse effect. And no it hasn't sent us down but we also haven't had a "good" season for three years now.
