Quote from: General on July 30, 2026, 04:09:47 PMFabrizio Romano has give the Garcia and Palacios deals the 'Here we go' treatment:

BREAKING: Gonzalo García to Fulham, here we go! Deal completed with Real Madrid.

If that's true, 30% sell on is astonishing good business for RM

They have mastered the art of sell ons tbh. And they have the prood of academy players succeeding to justify their strong position.

That said it's a decent deal all round imo. We take less risk up front allowing us to spread expenditure across other targets whilst not accepting the 50% sell ons they've managed to achieve with other players before.

And Gonzalo has a very famous great auntie

You are a little bit scary. I think amongst all the 'in the know' stuff and best guesses and gate watching at Motspur Park nobody has ever followed a plane👊

Where have you been? ha
Farnborough Airport is a common running half joke every summer - cos it's where Fulham fly the vast majority of their chartered flights for players to and from.

So whilst its a bit of a giggle people have - being on plane watch being part of the silliness of the summer...it is legit where most of our signings will fly into

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Sgt Fulham

Anyone else thinking thats a hell of a lot of money and a hell of a sell on clause. Big gamble on this guy performing to an elite level.

Not really, no. It seems reasonable to me in the current market. Of course what we don't have any idea of is the contract terms - wages etc. and this is at least as important now.

Wouldn't it be a private jet?

No, would have been a bigger gamble to pay the higher fee with no sell on clause - fair deal in my opinion for a top young striker that Arbeloa knows he can trust

There's a website called Flight Radar (https://www.flightradar24.com/) & you can essentially work out which flights are going where based on the fact that FFC always use the same charter (NetJets) and fly players into Farnborough. From there you can look at the chartered inbound flights and do some logical deductions!

Real Madrid sign Carlos Espi from Levante, a 21 yr old striker from Levante for 25m euros - seems like Garcia's replacement and quite like for like, though Carlos played and scored 11 league goals last season, so perhaps more proven and for less, most of those 11 goals came in his last 13 games last season.

Funny old world

Interesting infographic here on top U23 players in the top 5 leagues in europe with Espi coming in top and Garcia coming in eighth, just behind Benjamin Sesko (22 yrs old) and Hugo Ekitike. Garcia comes in with what equates to a goal every other game

Quote from: General on July 30, 2026, 11:11:56 AMHigh fees, long-term relationship with manager and someone Fulham seem very keen on signing..

Who is the player and what are his merits? to discuss further..

Initial headlines

Gonzalo Garcia - 22yr old striker, Real Madrid

According to transfermarkt, Garcia 'played' in 30 La Liga games last season, scoring six goals and getting one assist. On closer look he got those G/A figures by largely playing in minutes terms 10.5 games, which perhaps puts more sense to the reason Real value him so highly - though three of those came in a Hat-trick performance vs Real Betis, averaging 25 minutes per game over the 38 games in La Liga.

He also got two goals and two assists in cup competitions, most notably scoring and assisting goals against Barcelona as Real lost 3-2 in the Supercopa Final.

https://www.transfermarkt.us/gonzalo-garcia/leistungsdaten/spieler/935230/saison/2025

On the international side he has represented Spain through the age groups U18, U19, U21 and has represented the senior side and recent world cup winners once, securing his cap earlier this year in June against Iraq.

Randomly is the grandnephew of Spanish American actree Rita Hayworth, who some may remember here.

His record for Real across the two seasons he's slowly started to get embedded to their first team reads

24-25 season - 10 games and 5 goals
25-26 season - 39 games and 8 goals

Throughout the 24-25 season he also played for Real Madrid Castilla where he scored 25 goals in 36 games, which perhaps shows more his goal scoring nature, though at a much lower level.

This is the most viewed compilation of his skills and goals on youtube with 110k views

If Mourinho decides he can leave, let's hope he doesn't play like Rita Heyworth....lol

Exciting signing.  Will be some growing pains for sure.  But potentially a star player for us.   Fingers crossed!  And we probably will need to be a little patient with him.

Woolly Mammoth

Well he's not six years old, and for that money I expect new players to hit the ground running.
Fulham are not running a holiday camp.
There getting paid a fortune to entertain not be molly coddled, that just produces wimps and players made of glass. If a player has reached that level you expect them to possess a strong mentality to adapt immediately. So no need to be patient as that creates bad habits.

Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

bencher

He looks a potential superstar to me and might be the true successor to Mitro. Mitro came as a high potential player that hadn't quite done it yet and really hit the ground running. Very excited to see what he can do for us, but it's really important that we figure out our patterns of play and get the ball into dangerous areas more quickly than we did over the last part of MS's time.

Deuce

No doubt its a lot of money, just as ESR and Kevin was.

You could make the argument that Balogun would have been a safer, albeit expensive, option. Garcia has however a higher ceiling and Im glad we are looking more towards those types of recruitment rather than paying a lot for some players who are good but wont developed much more and we'll just end up losing for free because we wont or cant extend their contracts.

What speaks in favour of Garcia becoming a good signing is his physicality and pressing. We arent getting a Bryan Ruiz.

Only concern is that he now goes from being a utility/rotational player for a big club to becoming a key man in a smaller club. How he handles that will be key.

I also hope that we havent spent the majority of our budget on these two just because AA wants them, and then we just spend whatever we have left on 2-3 other positions.
Because god knows we need at least two more cms
