Mr Fulham

According to several polish sources, we are interested in Lech Poznan striker Artjoms Rudnevs (23). The papers claim that we're prepared to fork out about 6.4m for him.

Rudnevs scored 5 goals in 7 Europa League matches this season.

Asked a polish mate about him:

  • Able to play RF and CF
  • had fantastic matches in the EL
  • many clubs interested (Juventus, Borussia Dortmund - who beat us to the signing of fellow Poznan striker Robert Lewandowski - Arsenal, Udinese, Galatasaray)
  • good headers

5 foot 10 and 23 years of age. He looks a bit different to the sort of strikers we have been linked with in recent times. More of a gamble than someone like Lacina Traore but probably a lot cheaper.

I thought that was this weeks conundrum on Countdown.

I am just about to buy a vowel.  :58:

He has an air of the Eric Nevland about him from that video, pure finishes but little else.

Fulham Lead The Chase For €5M Goal Machine

Fulham's lack of goals this season will be Mark Hughes first priority to address when the transfer window opens again in the summer. Fulham are one of the lowest teams in terms of goals scored with 28 only above Wigan, Wolves and Birmingham respectively.

The search for a new striker has led Mark Hughes to Latvian international Artjoms Rudnevs. Rudnevs plays in the Polish league for Lech Poznań who currently sit 10th after 15 games. The 23 year old has featured prominently this season and is joint second in the goal scorers chart with 7 just 1 behind 1st.

The Latvian can also play right wing but favours a role down the middle. Rudnevs only singed for Lech Poznań last August but has already had some memorable moments, scoring a hat-trick in a game against Juventus in the Europa League, the first goal a cooly slotted penalty, the second a scissor kick from 3 yards and the third an equalizing amazing long range shot deep into injury time.

After this match he gained big attention from football fans and specialists in his homeland Latvia as well as all over Europe. Rudnevs himself stated that this had been "the best match of his career so far".

That interest has reached the English Premier League with the likes Birmingham, Wigan and Everton in recent times but it is now Fulham who are in the driving seat. The striker could be available from anything between £2-5 million in today's market.

Just found this beauty on youtube:

16-09-2010 Juventus 3-3 Lech Poznan: Artjoms Rudnevs (LATVIA) HatTrick

That goal was to complete his hattrick against Juventus, and it raises a few points:

1) Watch your back Clint Dempsey
2) Could be Fulham material with his propensity to score against Juve!

No forum is complete without a silly Belgian participating!

No thanks. Whilst our strikers are a problem I think that we aren't creating enough from midfield so would invest there instead.
