Wenger defends Halliche

"I wonder why he does not play at Fulham"

According to the bureau chief of Aljazeera Sport in Spain, the Algerian Lakhdar Berriche, the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger the French, who worried about Rafik Halliche not playing at Fulham.

The friendly Berriche has informed us that the interest of Wenger for Fulham defender did not start today, as the Gunners' manager was impressed by the qualities of the Algerian international in the last World Cup in South Africa . Consultant on behalf of several satellite channels, including Al Jazeera Sports, Wenger has followed all the matches of the Algerian team at the 2010 World Cup. But the game that is undoubtedly marked the confrontation that pitted the Greens with the Americans on behalf of the last first round match of World Cup 2010. Wenger has made no secret, that day, his admiration for the Algerian defender. Besides, he told Lakhdar Berriche.

Wenger has discovered during the match Rafik Algeria-USA

"But who is this player who is number 5? Frankly, it is a classy defender, he made an excellent performance, "Wenger had started to address Berriche who was at his side. Our compatriot was immediately instructed to give details on the course of Halliche, emphasizing the fact that he is a player trained in Algeria and is considered a pure local product. Wenger then took a lot of information on former player NAHD. The English press has referred to, thereafter, the interest of Arsenal for the Algerian player, but the information was quickly denied by the Arsenal manager. But as we know Wenger is known to always act with discretion in the transfer.

The Gunners coach always acts in the discretion

Lakhdar Berriche remembers the time when he covered the Euro 2008 with Arsene Wenger. He had already been built on secrecy cultivated by the French when he is interested in a player. At the time, Wenger has been subjugated by the Russian Arshavin. Berriche When asked if he were to enroll, Wenger had immediately responded in the negative.

A few weeks later, the Russian international found himself at Arsenal and he wears the jersey of the London club since the 2008-2009 season. "I talked with him at Euro 2008 Arshavin and about the possibility of recruitment at Arsenal. Wenger did not hide his admiration for the former Zenit striker, but he would not spread too much on this subject. He simply said he would not bring him to Arsenal. The rest is history.

This is to say how Wenger prefers discretion when it comes to recruiting players, "said Berriche.

The French soon on Aljazeera Sport

Moreover, Lakhdar Berriche made us a secret crispy. He showed us that he recently met with Wenger to prepare him a show that will air soon on Aljazeera Sport. Besides this issue, Wenger was asked about the fate of Algerian international at Fulham where he played almost ever. "I wonder why Halliche not playing at Fulham, it worries me and I find no explanation. I think this player has the means to aspire to more Fulham, "suggested to the coach of Arsenal Lakhdar Berriche.

We see, the Algerians are not the only ones who think Halliche deserves a chance to play at Fulham, a technician dimension Wenger also believes. Does this mean that Halliche to rethink next summer? That's all the evil that wishes to our brave defender who could probably blow up under the thumb of a coach Arsene Wenger also stalled.

Sheeeeet, Wenger would bite his hand off for a chance to name either Hughes or Hangman in his first XI....Halliche, I don't think so much.

We should sell Halliche to Wenger, but charge a Hangeland sized price.

lamby

Same issue Smalling had. Hughes and Hangeland are 2 of the best CB's in the Premier League, almost never make a mistake, and with Mark Schwarzer, make a back 3 that you can build a Premier League team around. It is like Stockdale - he might be a great player, but the guy currently in the job is not doing anything wrong.

Wenger, if you like him so much, then buy him!

hmm.  I'll usually defend any player, and I must remember that it's his first season in England, but not very impressed with what I've seen so far.   Looks big and clumsy, good in the air but not on the deck.   We'll see.

It's a weird one isn't it, our current pairing are so good, nobody's going to ever get much of a look-in. I can't abide Whinger when he goes into his 'I didn't see it' routine, or defends his own players for indefensible actions, but he knows his onions when it comes to players. So this tells me we've got a better-than-decent player in back-up, who will either do very well if he gets a starting berth, or will fetch a Samllingesque fee from one of the big boys.

Or Whinger has ulterior motives...

There are lots of articles from last year saying Wenger wanted to sign Halliche and it apparently got as close as his agents being in North London for discussions with Arsenal last summer -

I personally think the French Whiner is deliberately talking up Halliche so he can bid for Hangers in the summer  :028:

I think this just confirms what we all have been worried about - he cannot be any good because Wenger is interested!

Chopper

Has anyone seen him play for more than the 20 minutes he managed against Peterborough?

That's all I've seen and whilst he was poor I wouldn't write him off based soley on that game. The problem is always going to be how many opportunities is he going to get (not many whilst Hughes & Hangeland are fit) and how quickly can he get up to speed given the opportunity.

Well I saw him three or four times on television during the World Cup, including the game against England.  He looked like a very good player indeed - but then so did Salcido!

Same here, during the World Cup I was like "Man, this Salcido looks class" and now I'm like  :tom:

I don't think that is too fair on Halliche. We have barely seen him yet. He didn't look all that against Peterborough, but Sacido hasn't looked all that either since his first few games when he looked awesome.

Besides, I don't even know if they compete for the same spot. Halliche seems to be the back up to H&H and only God knows what will be the pecking order when Senderos comes back

Tom, I don't agree on that man, Halliche needs to play more games and then we can say he is good or he is crap. Plus, Halliche is younger, 24, Salcido is 30.

I think there is a reason Halliche doesn't even make the bench for games. I hope you are right.
