Feeling like my mindset doesn't really fit in to todays world and way of thinking!

Trying to get my feet onto a ladder with people who are "wiser" downgrading my ambitions which I find demoralizing.

Anyone else ever been in this mindset?

More the mindset i'm in doesn't really fit in to todays was of thinking more than "wiser" people downgrading ambitions.

I would go and lie down  :016:

Just make sure you don't hold a heavy box in that ladder whilst wearing slippers...

Your ambitions are your ambitions, nobody else's. Keep the faith and good things will happen to you :045:.

Not sure if this is entirely relevant but my son (age 27) has been aiming high since he returned to America. However, he finds that the interviews he has had, which he does extremely well in, just drop into a black hole. (Even after comments like, "let's get this wrapped up in the next week").
He has over 2 years experience in the city (London) in foreign exchange banking and is now getting a bit despondent.
I suggested he goes back to London but he interpreted that as though I was putting down his ambition and a backward step.
I think I know how you feel. Keep going. :045:

You and those dodgy mags...

Sound advice Mr Finnster sir.

Keep the ambitions Mr Tktd sir, don't let anyone try and put you off them or tell you that you have no hope of achieving them. A positive spirit and a never-say-die spirit will see you through.

Oh come now you're not so different ... alot of men want to become women, it's all very commonplace now a days... go get 'em sweetie.  :005: oi, when you get the tits done take a pic and share with the rest of us.  :004: lol, just teasin don't get all angry...

I have to agree with Finnister. Your dreams are yours.

Just as a possible aside , by chance are you telegraphing to the "wiser" that your ideas are better? They may be, but that's not a good way to get listened to. You may find that some old gits are fearful of the young studs because they see their replacements. I for one run around and leave porn on the desks of the young ones just to protect my wiser location.  :014:
Its not that I could and others couldn't.
Its that I did and others didn't.

Rich coming from a couch hypocrite.... the thing i'm bewildered by is that you relate ambition with having no life... some may call it a workaholic but considering you don't know where my ambitions lie you'd be wise to not jump to such inane assumptions. Unfortunately with you premature statement you've already proven yourself to be more an ass then wise.

For all of you who took the post seriously thank you very much for your kind words and words of support - greatly appreciated. Trying to start things up which can be quite big is definately testing but it's good to have people you can get feedback from. As I said, greatly appreciated.

Starting anything up is very difficult and it takes a lot of hard work and belief to succeed. When you are successful everyone wants your advice and time and input and when you are not successful people dismiss you as a dreamer who is thinking too big or too wild. People are very fickle and no-one knows you like you do. If you are trying something big it will take a lot to get it where you want and even small steps of success can be difficult to discern at first. There may be merit in scaling back your ambitions initially but never stop wanting to do what you want to do. Also, sometimes, your idea just won't be deliverable and it is important to know when to cut your losses and walk away from the table. No experience is wasted and you just make sure you come back harder the next time.
