My God it's just a tattoo. I guess since I have one it doesn't bother me but it never has bothered me that much. Like I said I just don't like "bad" tattoo's as we have had examples of on this post....

"You don't want to be trapped inside with me sunshine. Inside, I'm somebody nobody wants to love with do you understand?

MJG

I don't have any and don't mind them but what gets me is these total arm ones that seem to have crept in over the last ten years, Becks has a lot to answer for.

Berserker

I think a small one in a not prominent place can look OK, e.g. a butterfly or flower on the ankle, or as my female hairdressers has, a small treble clef behind her ear as she is into music.  I once saw a women walking down the street with a low cut top on and her complete boob area (well the parts that were showing) was covered in tattoos, looked horrible.

I personnally have never found anything that I would want etched on me until i die, and really tattoos are for ever aren't they, well unless you have them lasered and then you are likely to get a ugly scare. Just imagine how awful a women would look when she gets old with lots of tattoos  :001:

I used to play football with an African guy who said that girls were delighted with his tattooed todger which read DEMGO. When I asked why, he said that it sometimes read Democratic Republic of Congo.

Personally, I have none and don't ever think I will get one. I have no issues with them per se but some of the photos on this thread are way over the top but that is just down to personal taste.

My reason is my father had tatoo's.  He got them in a tatoo parlor in San Francisco when he was 17 and admitted later he was very drunk. On one arm he has a martini glass and the other was an "A" in some stylistic font. When I was young I asked him what the "A" stood for, he replied: "son, it stands for 'A--h--e' for ever having had it put on in the first place" (sorry fellow Mods as I have to tell the story verbatim for effect). I guess it made an impression.  :dft002:

The Bronsons

The horror show posted earlier in the thread is just silly - the equivalent of posting a picture of a 1980s Chelsea fan as if it [sic] stood for us. Most tattoos (like most tattooed people) are much more sensible.

Lighthouse

If people want to mark their bodies then why not? Some women have pointless little tattoos that nobody sees but they like. While others have big angel wings on their back and are the in thing in the porn movie industry. On the other hand, I don't understand piercings. Why would people do that? But tatts are fine.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Go to a Walmart in middle America, and within five minutes you will see a fat middle aged woman with a tattoo that would be heinous if it was on the forearm of a sailor from WWII. Ugly is a word that doesn't begin to do it justice.

When I look at Megan Fox I think "No thanks. Those tattoos are going to look gross when you are 40."

The Bronsons

 :004: I'm 51. They'd look good, believe me.

I have a few, and I dont mind them on girls. But its a different story for each girl, haha. I think that obnoxious tattoos are stupid. Anything you cant comfortably cover is probably a bit over the top (and this is coming from someone who is heavily involved in the music scene over here)

If I didnt REALLY like the girl a whole lot, I'd probably find it attractive.

If I DID really like the girl a lot, it'd better be tasteful and somewhat modest. I just think, if you have tattoos in overly visible places, it gives off a very "look at me" vibe, and some people dont find that attractive, some do. Hidden, tasteful and meaningful? To me that spells a deep, intelligent person, and that, i like.

In saying that, I cant wear a tee shirt without my left arm tattoos being revealed to some extent (they go to about 1 inch above the elbow)

I've considered getting a tattoo on more than one occassion, I've always thought to myself, hows that gonna look when I'm 70 and the skins not so elastic... I hope these women with the full arm numbers are going for 5 year ones...

CULTUREVULTURE

When you are 70 will you or anyone else really care?

The Equalizer

I quite like a tattooed woman. My new-found appreciation of all things punk means that I get to meet quite a few of them at gigs. I'm currently considering getting one done myself, but I'm not going to bother if I can't find something that would suit me exactly.
