Unfortunately the legend's played his last game for Northern Ireland... Ruled out of their next two Euro 2012 qualifiers through injury, and has therefore played his last game for his country.

:Haynes The Maestro:

Defender Aaron Hughes is out of Northern Ireland's squad for their final two Euro 2012 qualifiers against Estonia and Italy.

The 31-year-old Fulham defender has not recovered from a groin injury.

It means Hughes has played his last match for his country after announcing he was quitting international games at the end of the Euro campaign.

Striker Josh McQuoid is out with a virus while Jamie Ward has withdrawn because of a hamstring problem.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has an ankle injury and is doubtful for the games.

Preston North End full-back Conor McLaughlin has been called up to the squad.

Hughes, from Cookstown, won 79 caps for Northern Ireland, making his debut in 1998 and playing his last match in the 4-1 Euro 2012 defeat by Estonia on 7 September.

What a crying shame the NI crowd won't be able to show their appreciation of a wonderful servant and smashing bloke

Hopefully there'll be a high-profile side playing a friendly there in the near future and he can be paraded on the pitch to get the applause he deserves. What a brilliant player he is and has been.

BTW, that is more than twice as many caps as George Best (37) got for Norn Iron. Aaron, be proud, be very proud.  :Haynes The Maestro:
